It was going so well until the stroke of half–time, a clipped heel took Drogba down,
Chelsea ahead and The Wanderers down to 10 men.

Yes Kevin dear, you are number 1.
Hello again, it seems as though I've been posting a lot lately, to match the Trotter's busy
schedule. Chelsea will be paying us a visit this Saturday, a mere 72 hours after we saw them last.
And trust me, I haven't missed them. Here's a link to the BBC's preview of the match.

First, and most importantly, there is some sad news for the Wanderers World. Our dear Jussi is
retiring from his international career. His Finnish team failed to make South Africa 2010, and
Jaaskelainen announced his retirement earlier today. He was first capped in 1998, and has earned 55
since. Jussi, pure class as ever, came out with this statement:
"I have considered this decision long and hard, and I believe that it is now the right time to
give younger Finnish goalkeepers the chance to play on the international stage.

I haven't been able to find highlights but I did find a video of all four goals. The emotionally
unstable amongst us may not want to watch it as it's pretty depressing. As my father said the only
positive thing to take away from that match is the fact that we can't do any worse on Saturday. Now
I must say I didn't really expect a win, I don't think any Wanderer did, but 4-0?

I was unable to watch the game today because I had to write a history essay (though the game
probably would have been just as painful). I've just been reading some reports (as of now no video
is out) and things don't look good do they? Even Gary Megson called us crap and he barely ever does
that (even though we quite often are crap).

An unfortunate start for Bolton's trip to Old Trafford saw The Wanderers chasing for the

Jonny Evans had a great opportunity to score for Manchester United at the weekend but Jussi
Jaaskelainen did well to keep it out. This isn't the first time Evans has come close though, with
him rattling the woodwork following a diving header against Villarreal early last season.
The 21-year-old defender regrets his miss and feels he's doomed to never scoring.

Following a 2-2 draw last week against Sunderland and a loss for Chelsea earlier in the day, the
pressure was on Manchester United to perform well. And this is what they exactly did with a
clinical performance against Bolton Wanderers at the Old Trafford. Even though the 2-1 score line
had an own goal from Zak [.

Man United took on
Bolton at Old Trafford, minutes after Chelsea lost 2-1 to
Aston Villa at Villa Park.
United were without Nemanja Vidic and Wayne Rooney who were both out injured. Edwin Van Der Sar
returned but Ben Foster wasn't even on the bench.
Man United got off to an early start after scoring with their first chance of the game.

A brief summary of each Bolton Wanderers player who has been on international duty this
weekend.
England U21 6 – 3 Macedonia U21
Fabrice Muamba came on for Peterborough United's Danny Rose with 20 minutes to
go. Unfortunately Muamba's most notable contribution seems to be that he may have injured Micah
Richards when he collided with the Manchester City defender.

So Saturday was a bit of a surprise wasn't it? Bolton played the best they have in a long while,
and arguably outplayed Spurs, who have been a quality side so far this season. If you read my match
preview, I wasn't very optimistic for this match, I said we might sneak away with a draw. However
it was Tottenham who were lucky to get a point.

Yesterday's trip to Saint Andrew's Stadium was to be a veritable walk in the park
compared with the fixures The Wanderers have lined up next month.

Well you've got to hand it to him, Gary Megson must have the thickest skin in professional
football. I've seen him barracked by his own fans at 4 different clubs over the years and that's
some going, even in the fickle world of the football supporter. At a Nottingham Forest game, I saw
fans come to blows trying to get to him, at Leicester I saw a fan throw his season ticket at him in
his 3rd game in charge.

It's difficult to know where to start on this one. There were some encouraging things in
Saturday's match, but the depressing things definitely outweighed them. You can view limited
highlights (I use the term loosely) here, I'm trying to find the full ones and I'll update the post
when I do.
One of the best chances for the Wanderers was scuffed by Gary Cahill, he headed a cross from
Matty Taylor right over the bar.

Bolton's newcomer Ivan Klasnic was interviewed for today's match programme and Megson or
Gartside made sure he used the word 'positive' in relation to the club's mentality.
"I was impressed with everything that I saw. The stadium is excellent and everyone at the club
has a positive mentality.

Obviously the news has been a little slow this weekend due to the international break.
First off lets catch up with our Wanderers who were playing for their country:
Gretar Steinsson featured for Iceland in a 1 all draw with Norway in a Qualifier. Steinsson made
the cross which resulted in Iceland's goal.

One of my favorite Wanderers has traveled to the England training base. Today it was announced that
Gary Cahill will be in Fabio Capello's squad for the third and fourth time respectively. England
face Slovenia in a friendly match at Wembley on Saturday, then on Wednesday take on Croatia in a
World Cup Qualifier also at Wembley, which would assure their place in the tournament if they took
away all three points.

Steven Gerrard responded perfectly to having his early season form questioned by boss Rafael
Benitez when he belted in Liverpool's winner at the Reebok Stadium.
But the visitors were made to fight desperately hard by a Bolton side who were reduced to 10 men
for much of the second period.

This coming Saturday is set to be best pre-season friendly (and fun day) ever, in my opinion.
Not only do Bolton Wanderers take on Scottish Premier League side Hibernian Football Club at The
Reebok Stadium but there is a 'Legends Match' too.
Bolton Wanderers verses Hibernian is being billed as Jussi Jaaskelainen's testimonial.

Gary Megson has recently praised keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen before the start of new season,
saying that he wouldn't swap him for any other goalie. When things come from Gary Megson, you've
got to take them with a pinch of salt, but he's been spot on in his praise for the
Fin.
Jussi Jaaskelainen has spent 12 years at Bolton and he is definitely
one of the best ever Premiership keepers.

Lookalikes are ten-a-penny - anyone can make Dirk Kuyt look like Sloth from the Goonies, or Peter
Reid look like a monkey. It takes more to put two people together stylistically and functionally;
players who remind you of one another, players with similar styles - players that could be clones
of one another.

1. Manuel Almunia is smarter than he looks (maybe) Have a look about 1:20 into this video: When
Mikael Silvestre played him a dreadful backpass, Manuel Almunia handled the ball. You can't do
that, so indirect free-kick. Either Almunia is an idiot who doesn't understand the backpass rule,
or... he's very shrewd and decided that conceding an [.

Bolton keeper Jussi Jasskelainen is apparently attracting the interests of Premier League giants
Man United and Arsenal as well as Turkish side Fenerbache and Italian Champions Inter Milan. The
rumours come after Jaaskelainen's agent, Peter Harrison said that he expects the Finn to leave the
Reebok at the end of the season.
Jaaskelainen has been at Bolton for 10 years now but Bolton have had a poor start this season and
after summer speculation about his future at the club, it now seems as though he is finally ready
to leave.
