Arjen Robben has been ruled out of Netherlands' first match of World Cup 2010 against Denmark
after sustaining a hamstring injury.
Coach Bert van Marwijk said that it was too risky to play Robben on Monday, but is looking for
the winger to take on Japan on June 19th five days after their first match.
They didn't shock the world, but the manner in which Denmark made the World Cup turned a few
heads, beating Portugal in Portugal, Sweden twice and pretty much controlling their own destiny
throughout. A second spot may have been likely, but to win the group in such emphatic fashion
wasn't expected.
UPDATE: According to Liverpool's official website, Liverpool

There's something awfully intriguing about Cameroon. Each and every tournament the world waits
for them to break out of their shells and begin to fulfill that potential. One on African soil
would seem to be as good as any, but then the last two African Cup of Nations didn't go so
brilliantly.
And while this one is on their home continent and they'll want to do well, it may be a bit about
growth.
It's awfully hard to tell which way this will go, but today, Monday May 10th, Japan became one
of two teams to release their full World Cup squad of 23, along with New Zealand. It could mean
that they'll be well and gelled by the time the tournament commences. Or it could mean that their
campaign, like their squad, is destined for prematurity, which obviously isn't good.
Sampdoria's Antonio Cassano never looked likely to play for Italy at the World Cup this summer.
Though Cassano made the squad for Euro 2008, and has been in decent form for Sampdoria, the 27 year
old's international career has been on hiatus ever since World Cup winner Marcello Lippi was
reinstated as Azzurri boss.
His name is Antony Ananins, known to many as Tony New Mexico, a frequent poster on various
Liverpool and soccer related message boards (including the World Soccer Daily boards) and the
founder of a Facebook group called "Putting Steven Cohen Straight". Thanks to Tony's efforts and
the efforts of many others, people have been able to express their disagreement with Steven Cohen's
much publicized comments concerning the events surrounding the Hillsborough tragedy, comments that
led to the LFCNY's sponsorship boycott.
With it looking increasingly likely that Michael Owen will be a Manchester United player by the

Premiership from Real Madrid.

January 4th 2001: "There is no doubt Wes is an outstanding young centre half,"
said Jaap Stam. "He has pace, is good in the air and is a fantastic tackler. He is as good as any
English centre-half in the Premiership, certainly alongside Jon Woodgate and Rio Ferdinand. The way
he is playing at the minute, he obviously has a fantastic future ahead of him.
