Osorio Ready For Chicago Return

0
This weekend's game between the New York Red Bulls and Chicago Fire will be a key clash between two clubs that have their sights set on the playoffs. But more than that, it will mark the return of head coach Juan Carlos Osorio from the Big Apple to the city that he abruptly left last December - which more than likely will see the Chicago fans giving him an earful. Remaking the Red Bulls

2

Put a pair of Vulcan ears on New York sporting director Jeff Agoos. He uses relentless Spock-like logic to describe the Red Bulls' approach toward shaping up the roster this season.

When Jozy (Altidore) left, we knew we had a big hole up front, but we knew we needed to get someone to get Juan (Pablo Angel) the ball.

Juan Carlos Osorio will be making his first trip back to Toyota Park since leaving the Chicago Fire to take over as coach of the New York Red Bulls and the reception for him isn't likely to be a warm one.

MLS Ends Red Bulls' Kandji Adventure

0
The New York Red Bulls will have to look somewhere else in their search for a strike partner for Juan Pablo Angel, after Major League Soccer blocked a deal for Macoumba Kandji of the USL's Atlanta Silverbacks. The deal was quashed by MLS because of a $200,000 transfer fee that Atlanta had insisted upon, an unusually high amount for a USL player. Click to continue reading...

Week 21 spotlight

4
In the 21st week of the MLS season, there were some several outstanding performances this week but unfortunately the week was one in which many star players were missing due to international duty, something that could easily have been prevented.

Osorio Still Striker Shopping

3
After the sale of Jozy Altidore to Spain, New York Red Bulls coach Juan Carlos Osorio has been shopping around the world for a replacement striker. Right now he is mainly targeting three here in the States as the international transfer window closed for MLS clubs last Friday. The three Osorio is looking at right now, [. Red Bulls Preview: Game #21 vs. Orangina

3
Jeff Parke is injured. Gabriel Chicero is suspended. Just how will the New York Red Bulls continue their five-match unbeaten streak against Western Division leaders Houston on Sunday (3p, TF)? Adding benched Norway-bound D Hunter Freeman may be the answer. On August 13th, Freeman signed with IK Start of Norway, though he won't join the club until January. Click to continue reading...

Red Bull NY targets Kandji, Oduro, and Cummings

6
The New York posts Brian Lewis is reporting that the Red Bulls have narrowed down the search for a strike partner for Juan Pablo Angel. They include the Atlanta Silverbacks Senegalese striker Macoumba Kandji (who will probably be purchased from Atlanta if the club can pay the $200,000 transfer fee), Dominic Oduro of Dallas, and Colorado's Omar Cummings. WVH Watch List: Coaching Hot Seat

3
There really is no need to brag about getting something as right as saying a coach should be fired at anytime in the year. I know other sites will say they called it and what not but I like everyone else knew Fernando Clavijo's time in Colorado was about two years too long. So with that [...] Click to continue reading...

Red Bulls Going French Again?

2
First there was Youri Djorkaeff, now there may be Sylvain Wiltord to take a stab in the Big Apple with the New York Red Bulls. The former Arsenal and Lyon striker is said to be the "mystery striker" for Juan Carlos Osorio's trio of the summer striker hunt. Wiltord was suspended by his current club Rennes [. And the Red Bull's Mystery Striker is....

1
A few days ago Metrofanatic mentioned that in addition to a Panamanian prospect and USL bad ass Macoumba Kandji, Juan Carlos Osorio was also looking at a mystery striker. Could the former Arsenal man with some of the worst taste in eyewear and 92 caps for France be headed to The Swamp? Perhaps. Click to continue reading...

Red Bulls Going After Strikers

8
I guess we can't count this New York club out just yet here this season. Juan Carlos Osorio didn't make many moves before the season but he sure is making up for it this summer. With a slew of new players already on board, Osorio has recently put in offers for three different strikers. New York [...] Click to continue reading...

Looking Back : Coaching Hotseat

1
Back before the season began, WV Hooligan put out Fernando Clavijo, Sigi Schmid and Juan Carlos Osario as his top 3 for being in the coaching hot seat in the MLS. Sigi Schmid doesn't appear to be close with the Crew, along with head coaching rookie Dennis Hamlett's Chicago Fire, still in contention with New England for the Supporters Shield. WVH Coaching Hot Seat Update

COMMENTARY:Will new Bulls help Osorio turn it around?

0
The Red Bulls summer shopping spree is in full effect as Juan Carlos Osorio has brought into the fold an experienced defensive midfielder (Juan Pietravallo, 26) an attacking mid/left winger (Jorge Rojas, 31) and a talented left back (Diego Jimenez, 22). The clubs deficiencies have been glaringly exposed in the last few weeks and Osorio and company will hope that these 3 newcomers will arrive in time to change the clubs fortunes. MLS Halfway Point Offense & Defense Stats

MLS has now conducted 106 of its 210 regular season games, making this the perfect time to take a look at how the teams rank on offense and defense, as well as how they have changed since last season in both of those categories.

I'll also be posting a few quotes from my season preview article which I wrote back in March. Click to continue reading...

Fire in the hole

The Chicago Fire are a good soccer team.

I can say this, with full confidence, in reference to both the club's general state of success in recent seasons and their present form as of July 2008. I have seen them efficiently dispatch favored DC United sides in two of the last three MLS Cup playoffs and on several regular-season occasions in recent years as well. Click to continue reading...

MLS Sunday Review

1

Major League Soccer has provided us with little relief to the usual summer doldrums. As happens most MLS seasons the combination of high temperatures, half full stadiums and international call ups hurt the quality of football and make MLS in many ways a laughingstock of world football.

MLS' midweek performances against USL sides have sent off alarm bells in the halls of football support in this nation.

The Red Bulls makeover is under way

1

It is taking place a few months later than most fans would have liked, but the New York Red Bulls appear ready for their makeover now.

The team unveiled new signings Jorge Rojas and Juan Pietravallo on Wednesday in what should be the first of several steps toward remaking the roster that head coach Juan Carlos Osorio inherited when he took over as head coach last winter.

An Ugly Loss, but Hope for the Future

2
The Red Bulls crashed out of this year's U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday in ignominious fashion, bowing to a USL-2 club, Crystal Palace Baltimore, by a 2-0 score in Annapolis, MD. New York coach Juan Carlos Osorio sent out a group of mostly reserve-team players to take on the Charm City side, and the amped-up, lower-division boys proved that heart and desire have a decided advantage over a roster of substitutes.
