So, thanks to my man Dan Loney, I am reminded that Soccer Hall of Fame ballots
are due tonight. Last year, I apparently had until early December. Caught me off guard.
Anyway, last year I voted for Jeff Agoos, Mauricio Cienfuegos, Raul Diaz Arce, Marco
Etcheverry, Joy Fawcett, Robin Fraser, Pato Margetic, Victor Nogueira, Preki Radosavljevic
and Carlos Valderrama.

The ultimate soccer mom reached the pinnacle of her sport Sunday.
"In my life, I've had two dreams: To play soccer at the highest level and to be a mother,"
former United States Women's National Team standout defender Joy Fawcett said midway through her
induction speech at the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

US National Soccer Team alumni and five-time MLS Cup winner Jeff Agoos was inducted into the
National Soccer Hall of Fame on Sunday alongside two-time Women's World Cup winner Joy Fawcett. "I
am proud to be wearing this jacket," Agoos said. "While my name and picture may be memorialized

We have until July 30 to pick our All-Stars, which is a tad off-kilter, because August is going to
be the soul-crushing, agonizing final furlongs that grinds pretenders into the unforgiving dust.
And I don't wanna vote for someone who costs their team a playoff spot on the last weekend.
Ideally, we'd have it after the championship game, because the story of WPS Year One is very

It was billed as a party to celebrate the WNT's accomplishments ten years ago, when the United
States defeated China in a penalty kick shootout at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The game, played in
front of a crowd of 90,185, remains the best-attended women's sporting event in history and raised
the profile of women's soccer globally for years to come.

The year was 1999. A team of inspired women and a tournament of historic proportions captured
the hearts and minds of an entire nation. I was just a young girl (well not that young) and one
of 90,000 fans at the Rose Bowl watching the epic final and witnessing history.
The 1999 Women's World Cup ran from June 19-July 10, 1999, in packed stadiums across the United
States, raising the profile of women's soccer globally, creating new heroes in the sport and
setting the bar for future FIFA Women's World Cup™ tournaments
Now, 10 years later, U.

Her Story: It's tough not to put Joy Fawcett higher up on this list, but I
like her here at #5. She grew up in California and was a three time All-American at UC Berkeley.
She would join the Nats in 1987 and would serve the squad well until 2004. For almost two decades,
she would be a constant fixture on the backline for the powerhouse WNT.

First off ... has anyone noticed that it's cold? Damn cold. (Just needed to say
that.) Imagine crash landing in the Hudson River on a day like yesterday and living to tell
the tale. Miraculous indeed! I listened to a bit of Eric Holder's confirmation hearing
yesterday and was annoyed to hear the old hypothetical question [.

Today was the last day to vote for the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame class of 2009 and when I sat
down to fill out my electronic ballot I fully expected it to be an easy process.
