Fabio Capello has stunned English football by quitting as England manager having fallen out with
the FA after defender John Terry was stripped of the captaincy. The news rocked football
journalists across the land as head coach Fabio Capello turned his back on the English national
team and resigned with immediate effect.
54 years ago in Munich, 8 of Manchester United's brightest stars were killed when the aircraft
that was bringing them back home crashed. Along with them, 3 of the backroom staff, 8 journalists
and 2 other passengers also perished bringing the total casualty count to 21. Nothing could have
prepared the city of Manchester and indeed the whole footballing world for a tragedy of that
scale.
Arsene Wenger faced the press yesterday ahead of Arsenal's crucial home game against Blackburn,
where he is trying to arrest a run of four League games without a win, and he took the assembled
journalists to task for always being so pessimistic, even when Arsenal are doing well. "Look, at
the moment we are in [.
With Arsenal currently sitting 7th in the Premier League Table, it's now truly inevitable that
Robin van Persie will choose a new club come summertime, barring some miracle. Because it seems so
predestined, the notion doesn't trigger anxiety levels of Fabregas proportions in summers past,
where you just really didn't know what was going to happen.
"Changing the manager does not affect the way the players play on the pitch" ... I begin
fittingly with that quote from Wolves captain and £7million summer signing Roger Johnson. This was
a quote given to journalists after the ...

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that going four games without a win is frustrating but
believes that a top-four finish remains achievable as long as the Gunners make an early impact on
their matches.
Last night's goalless draw at Bolton left Wenger's side in seventh place, five points behind
fourth-place Chelsea and another seven behind bitter cross-town rivals Tottenham Hotspur in
third.
Early in the 1990′s, when we were deprived of being able to watch a lot of live Premier League
matches on television in the United States, many of us (myself included) would look up to the
journalists, football supporters and ...

On the weekend just past the Spanish daily newspaper, Marca, released what they claimed to be an
exclusive. The newspapers football journalists had found out that Jose Mourinho, the Real Madrid
coach, was dissatisfied with the level of hostility targeted in his direction and believing that
his work was not recieving the plaudits he felt it welcomed he was going to leave his position at
the end of the current season.
Rumours are circulating of a serious training ground dispute between coach Jose Mourinho and
vice-captain Sergio Ramos on Friday.
According to Madrid-based sports paper Marca, Mourinho accused his playing staff of betrayal
following their post-match press reaction on Wednesday night.
There have been many ridiculous articles saying that Arsenal are trying to sign Robin Van Persie's
son, but they are all from desperate journalists trying to make a story because there are no
imaginary transfer rumours to report! In fact, looking back at the original story, Robin made it
quite clear that his son doesn't [.
Now we've all established the fact that Bavarian giants Bayern Munich
absolutely love their basketball games..."natürlich!!" So they turned up at full
force to watch last weekend's showdown between Bayern Munich and EWE Baskets Oldenburg at the Audi
Dome with their families.

SINGAPORE, 15 JANUARY 2012 – The Courts Young Lions emerged victorious over the H-TWO-O
Ultimate Dream Team after a nerve-wrecking penalty shoot-out in a match that was played at Jalan

Ex-Premier League referee and Rangers supporter Jeff Winter has had his personal website
suspended after several of his blogs (posted during a Christmas trip to Australia and New Zealand)
containing incredibly offensive anti-Catholic jibes were circulated by journalists including Gab
Marcotti on Twitter yesterday.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has rejected reports that Andy Carroll could be set to leave
Anfield during the January transfer window.
Reports suggested the £35million club record signing's former club Newcastle were preparing a
cut-price bid to take the England international back to his native north east.
Neil Warnock's sacking at QPR could have some implications for Spurs' winter transfer plans if
the new Loftus Road manager is given a transfer kitty worth up to £20m. Last week, Rangers are
reported to have offered £5m for Christopher Samba while Warnock was still at the club and it's
thought that the Congolese centre half remains a priority.
Forget Roy Keane, among the weapons the now former Bristol Rovers manager Paul Buckle had in his
armoury was an icy stare that could single-handedly re-freeze the polar ice caps. I've seen it used
on misbehaving players in training, at fans who've had a differing opinion, and at journalists
(including myself) who've asked questions that he doesn't think are worth answering (which, on some
occasions, has been a fair response).
Kenny Dalglish is hoping the New Year will bring Liverpool the fortune he believes their impressive
display so far this season deserve.
While delighted with the manner in which his side has performed in 2011-12, the boss feels the Reds
haven't enjoyed much luck - a point highlighted by the 17 efforts they have seen come back off the
woodwork already this term.
This is our last installment in a series of post setting out the top business stories in
American soccer from 2011. We have looked at Portland and Kansas City while also discussing NBC's
entry as a soccer broadcaster and FOX's big play for World Cup television rights. We will set up
a vote to select the top story early next week.
Liverpool FC has today banned journalists from the Daily Mirror from Anfield after it ran a
negative story on Luis Suarez using the headline 'RACIST'.As I argued earlier today, the FA did NOT
convict Suarez of being racist; they did not even argue that he used a word relating to Patrice
Evra's race.
Carl Markham has written an article for The Independent in response to Luis Suarez
being found guilty of making racist remarks to Patrice Evra.
The FA report: "The two witnesses who say they heard those words directed by Mr Bethell at
Mr Evra are the Manchester United first team coach Mr Mike Phelan and the goalkeeping coach Mr
Richard Hartis.
Kenny Dalglish today confirmed Liverpool 'have the option' to add to their squad in January - but
insisted they don't necessarily need to bolster the ranks.
With the transfer window set to re-open in 16 days' time, journalists at Melwood were eager to quiz
the boss on any potential plans to bring in new faces to the Reds squad.
Yesterday in the Friday Free Kicks, I essentially lambasted Brad Friedel for his comments regarding
Landon Donovan. Along with other journalists, I was under the impression that Brad Friedel was
stating that Donovan took the easy road and my quarrel with this was large. Apparently though, he
was misquoted and I misunderstood.

A brand new publication brought to the general public courtesy of Football Friends Media.
This is a book full of football tales provided by real life fans who have a love for the game
rather than seasoned journalists.
There is a refreshing level of raw talent throughout the publication, names of aspiring writers
who will be seen in print a lot more in coming years.
There are lots of things which are either rigged, not taken seriously or both in football. FIFA
qualifies in general. So too does the electoral process in Bulgaria. (The footballing variety,
obviously.)
The Bulgarian Player of the Year is something of a travshamockery, given that it's Berba's year
after year, and justifiably so.
Our hero Mungo McCrackas is finding it hard settling into his new club, Primrose Hill Ramblers.
Not least because their gimlet-eyed chairman has realised he has a number of unfortunate
shortcomings as a footballer. This is a new experience for Mungo, as it's normally only supporters,
journalists and teammates who pick up on his weaknesses.

Ronaldinho having some 'me time' whilst training with the Brazilian national team
One of football's more colourful characters, Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, must be feeling rather
embarrassed right now, after an x-rated webcam video of the star erm, giving himself a 'helping
hand', was leaked on the internet, in true Dirty Den/Leslie Grantham style.
Joga Bonito A video showing Brazilian star Ronaldinho, erm, working on his solo skills has been
leaked. The footage of the ex-Barcelona star and his laptop enjoying some alone time in the
bathroom were posted on YouTube and, although the original video has since been removed, has now
spread around the internet.
After a day spent eating food with enough butter to kill Lil' Sebastian, my Thanksgiving
celebration has finally ended. On the plus side it means my late afternoon hangover's gone, but on
the downside it means dealing with the repercussions of a meal I spent ridiculing my wife's aunt.
Overall it was a push, at least until I realized Liverpool players need have a good attitude and
that means you, Andy Carroll.
American McCarver is a moderately terrible sports blog run by tech journalists and bloggers. And
yet this post just seems to have so much zeitgeist in it:
The point — you were totally expecting a plural there, weren't you? — came an hour
and a quarter into the game, when someone apparently kicked the ball into a net or
something.
By Clemente Lisi – Carson, CA (Nov 20, 2011) US Soccer Players – The joke in the press box at
the Home Depot Center on Sunday night was that it had been the fault of the large contingent of
English journalists credentialed for MLS Cup (there to see David Beckham) who brought the rain with
them to Southern California.

In a week when FIFA president Sepp Blatter was embroiled in yet another
scandal: this time about race, we report on four of the many controversies that FIFA's leader has
been involved in.
Reminders of my essential crapness as an organiser are never far away.
It appears I've organised a blogathon for the day after the nation has been subjected to a
Wogan-athon. That big, ruddy, irresistible cuddly bear. And don't even get me started on
Pudsey.
Anyway, if you've got anything left to give or even just want to spread some kindness by shouting
encouragement or abuse from the Twitter and Facebook sidelines please keep an eye out from tomorrow
morning.
This is a travel day for most journalists, MLS officials, the Houston Dynamo and others involved
in Sunday's MLS Cup, so there isn't much news to impart.
But there's nothing to get the anticipatory juices flowing for Galaxy fans than a stirring
music/video montage.
There are just five days left until MLS Cup 2011: Are you ready?
CHICHARITO MANIA
It's the weekend of some key international matches! Por supesto, how could we forget
our friends in Mexico?! They're playing Serbia in a friendly today, and as usual, the current 'IT'
boy of Mexican football Chicharito received all the media attention.
Commissioner Don Garber gave his annual State of the League address via teleconference Thursday
afternoon. Several of his comments are receiving media attention, like an imbalanced schedule and
potential changes to the playoff format for 2012. Such alterations can easily be modified, though,
year-to-year, if and as fans and critics voice their disapproval.
Edwin Van der Sar, one of the greatest Manchester United goalkeepers in the club's history, has
said that if his old club are going to be able to defeat Barcelona then they need to change their
style of play in midfield. Van der Sar has said his old team need 'to have more touches, be a
little less direct, and more intricate in their play' if they are to challenge, get closer and
eventually beat Barcelona.
There was a time where the entire world relied on Journalists for the news. World news, local
new, fashion updates, entertainment and sports, if you needed to know something about anything that
interested you, you went to the media in its various forms to get the latest. The radio would give
you the most up to date news in brief fashion, and the newspaper would give you the in-depth
version on your kitchen table with your breakfast before work.
For the second straight year, the Chicago Fire are not participating in the MLS Playoffs.
Despite a valiant turn around in the final games on the season, most notably the stunning comeback
against DC United, the Fire came up just short. As we enter the long and dark off-season the Fire
have many questions to answer before kicking a ball in 2012.
Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique made his Liverpool debut just 24 hours after signing for the club,
and Kenny Dalglish believes that this may have been a positive for the player, who he admits was
'thrown in at the deep end'.
Dalglish is often needlessly antagonistic in press conferences, but today, despite being asked the
same question about Enrique for the umpteenth time this season, he kept his cool, but still made
his point:
"It's difficult for us to come up with a different answer every week.
People will tell you that when someone of power and prominence walks into a room, before you
have even seen them, you feel their presence. It's an absurd notion really. The idea that anyone
has an invisible aura of authority or influence is at best descriptive indulgence, more accurately
it's physically not possible.
