The President of Rwanda wants his buddy Arsene to step down? Robin van Persie is furious with
Arsene...Or is he? And, does Real Madrid really want Arsene?
It's been quite an interesting week for the Arsenal so far. If you haven't been following the
news as much as I have, allow me to illuminate you.
The name of West Ham keeper Rob Green has been mentioned once again in connection with a move to
Spurs and there will be a large section of Tottenham fans who are hoping to pin this one down to
lazy journalism.
Green, who is now 32, is out of contract at the end of the season and reports that the Hammers
have postponed contract talks until the summer seem to have sparked off these rumours.
I was not optimistic going into Sunday's game, we have massive injury problems, our squad is down
to the barest of bones, our form is poor and consequently confidence is low, and then I heard that
the hapless and compliant Mike Dean is to referee the game, I no longer have much room for
optimism. This ACLF article talking about shoddy Mirror journalism and low quality refereeing is
well worth a
Carl Markham has written an article for The Independent in response to Luis Suarez
being found guilty of making racist remarks to Patrice Evra.
The FA report: "The two witnesses who say they heard those words directed by Mr Bethell at
Mr Evra are the Manchester United first team coach Mr Mike Phelan and the goalkeeping coach Mr
Richard Hartis.
It was probably inevitable that Kyle Walker's breakthrough season should have been greeted with
a host of rumours linking him with a transfer abroad.
As most Spurs fans expected, Kyle returned home after his loan spell at Aston Villa to make the
right back slot his own and after being called up to numerous full England squads, he finally made
his international debut last month.
Xabi Alonso has revealed that Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo has still not returned to
training ahead of Saturday's crucial La Liga clash with Sporting Gijon.
Ronaldo picked up an ankle injury following a strong challenge by Luis Perea during last
weekend's ill-tempered derby win over city rivals Atletico Madrid.
FBM looking all "journalism-y".Wondo: "You're so funny." FBM: "I know." (

There's a rumour circulating this afternoon that Spurs are looking at making an approach for
QPR's Argentine midfielder Alejandro Faurlin when the transfer window opens in January.
The rumour, idle or otherwise, is gathering a bit of momentum so if there is a vacancy across
the White Hart Lane middle, it's worth looking at the player's credentials to see if he can fill
it.
Let's start with the obvious... soccer bloggers, including (maybe especially) those that track
the New England Revolution, love a controversy.
Better yet, a conspiracy.
I do what I can not to jump on most of the conspiracy theory bandwagons. Really, I try.
I'll admit it though, some are hard to avoid.
To mark the 25th anniversary of Sir Alex Ferguson being Manchester United manager, Daniel Taylor
has re-released his book This Is The One. This book saw Danny banned from Ferguson's
Friday press conferences four years ago and apparently news of the re-release didn't go down too
well either.

When Tom Huddlestone first began to experience injury problems around 12 months ago, he was
first choice at the Lane for defensive midfield duties. However, as he continues the rehabilitation
from his latest setback, he suddenly faces a battle to take the field when he finally regains
fitness.
Pinch, punch, first of the month and all that.
And pinching is something we've been doing a lot of since Saturday. Did we really go to Stamford
Bridge and become the first side in the Premiership era (the twentieth year of it, no less) to
score five times? Did we really come from behind twice at a ground that has caused us so much grief
over the past five years?
Firstly one cannot ignore the rather low quality story in the Mirror that confidently predicts Jack
Wilshere is going to be out of action for three months. Interestingly other sources are already
watering down the Mirror's dubious take on events by saying Wilshere 'could' be out for up to three
months.
I've realized from a few emails that some readers may not know that I no longer work for Goal.com.
I quit over a month ago. I wish my friends there the best of luck, but I didn't want to be there
any more. Unfortunately, I didn't really didn't have another soccer writing job lined up, so I've
gone back to teaching.
I don't often highlight particularly low quality pieces of journalism but today's Dail Mail has
some of Martin Samuel's excrement within, and it deserves a closer inspection and ridicule. It
starts off badly by falsely assuming that Arsenal have made a habit of buying in ready made
superstars, in fact nothing could be further from the truth and by starting off from this false
premise, Samuel's

You do know this is the same guy most of you have been in awe of all year, right?
It's hard to find many cases more explicitly capturing the fickle nature of the neutral football
fan (and journalist) than the double-standard that is placed upon Lionel Messi when he's wearing
blue and red in Barcelona and when he's wearing blue and white in Buenos Aires.
...and go buy Issue #1 of The Blizzard. It's a pay-what-you-like model, and I was suspicious of the
£3 (~$5) suggested price for the ePub. But I'm a big fan of Jonathan Wilson, so I took the plunge
and feel richly rewarded for doing so, both in the quantity and the quality of the work included. A
nice stack of non-time-sensitive soccer/football journalism now sits on my phone, just waiting for
those little gaps in the day to appear.
After Martin Jol's appointment as Fuham manager, it didn't take the rumour mills long to start a
transfer story between the two clubs. Was it just lazy journalism or was there really an enquiry
and maybe even a £10m bid for Moussa Dembele?
While Spurs' search for a striker continues, suggestions have come about that an initial bid
failed, but that Tottenham may return with an improved deal that sees Robbie Keane go the other
way.

Huge disappointment this morning as Robin van Persie has 'clarified' the comments he made about
Chelsea and Spain.
Crossing his fingers and trying not to break his hole laughing, he said:
I respect my colleagues of Spain and Chelsea and look forward to playing against them for many
years to come.
Football blogging is perhaps the best job ever the problem is that it is not a job!
James Robert Shaw laments...
At the time of writing this piece I am sitting at a desk in London undertaking a rather meagre
marketing internship. The time is 8.32am and on seven hours sleep I feel rather lethargic and
devoid of the enthusiasm needed to get me through an arduous day of spreadsheet's, conference
calls, and low-level marketing.
In the words of Ja Rule, 'Pimpin aint easy...oh I mean blogging aint easy, trust me I
know. By James Robert Shaw....

DOHA, Qatar Qatar has welcomed an investigation into alleged corruption in its victorious 2022
World Cup bid. The 2022 host nation said the evidence put forward so far was false, unsubstantiated
and coming from a whisteblower who is probably a former employee "with a significant axe to grind."
Qatar has been on the defensive [.
Drawing from an AP story, the FFF "inquiry" is underway.
There have been "claims" that France National Team Manager Laurent Blanc secretly agreed on a
quota restricting the number of black and Arab players in national training programs.
The website Mediapart printed a strange, obviously sensationalized account of rampant racism
within the FFF, which was immediately followed by an FFF statement that the FFF had been concerned
about dual nationals making themselves unavailable for selection for the national team by choosing
to play for another country.
After giving everyone a few weeks to settle into the regular stride of the season, we've decided

Greetings from sunny Las Vegas...
I may not be in the best mental or physical shape, so please don't complain about typos or

low-rent gonzo journalism). Having said that...
The big piece of news, for me, is that Barca President Sandro Rosell has come out and said that
Barca will not increase their bid for Cesc Fabregas this summer.
Football results are one thing. How they were achieved another. Scoreboard journalism is not my
thing. I won't say to you that Preud'Homme is a great coach because he won and De Boer is crap
because he lost. (Are you paying attention, Hoeness, Rummenigge, Kahn, Beckenbauer?).
Anyway.... PSV couldn't get past [read more]

One of constant complaints among football managers is that the media takes their words and
twists them. The latest example of this comes from The Daily Telegraph whose headline
today screams "Arsene Wenger: Arsenal can win quadruple." Except he never said that.
PARIS, France Former France coach Raymond Domenech has broken his silence over the World Cup
debacle, labeling the players "stupid brats" for going on strike at a training session to make "a
laughing stock" of their country. Domenech's bitter six-year tenure as France coach ended after
last year's World Cup in South Africa and [.
The last we saw of Raymond Domenech, he was immersed in a witness protection program
masquerading as some sort of poker crash course. Now that the money's dried up from that little
venture, he's back for more cash with his very first exclusive post-World Cup meltdown interview to
be released amidst pomp and several forms of circumstance tomorrow.
If you scour the Arsenal blogosphere on a daily basis the name Critic will
need no introduction. He's a passionate Desi Gooner like yours truly and has contributed the
following piece. I hope you will find it a nice change from my usual analytical ramblings.
It has been a crazy transfer month, with even crazier rumors.
One thought that Wednesday was going to be a big day for the Tractor Boys because they were
supposed to meet Arsenal in the Carling Cup semi-finals.
They'll be disappointed to know in their place it's going to be Liverpool as per The Sun.
Stellar journalism as usual. When it comes to disinformation it does not get better than a Murdoch
run operation.
