After scoring a highlight-reel goal in a friendly this week, Terrence Boyd will be looking to do
something he has yet to do in his budding career -- make a top-flight, first-team appearance in a
game that counts.
Despite already having four caps with the U.S. national team and following a season with
Borussia Dortmund's reserves in which he scored 20 goals, the 21-year-old Boyd eyes his pro debut
with Rapid Vienna this weekend as the Austrian Bundesliga season gets underway.
Luis), Alonso Zamora(Atlas).
Jonathan Bornstein's search for playing time will see him stay in Mexico. Just not with Tigres UANL.
Tigres announced late on Wednesday that it has loaned Bornstein to Atlante in a deal that could lead to the veteran left back earning consistent minutes for the first time in years. Bornstein has seen just 368 minutes in league play since transferring to Tigres back in January 2011 and did not make a single appearance for the club during the recently-concluded Apertura campaign.
There is no stopping Aron Johannsson these days. Just ask Sparta Rotterdam.
Johannsson enjoyed quite the day at the office on Thursday, scoring a hat-trick in AZ Alkmaar's 4-1 extra-time win over Sparta Rotterdam in KNVB Cup action. Johannsson netted a fifth-minute opener and also came up big after the match ended, 1-1, in regulation, scoring the next two goals in the added 30 minutes to assure that AZ would move on in the tournament.
Currently the Portland Timbers have 30 players on their roster, including Kris Boyd who has not yet been confirmed as leaving the team. This presents a unique challenge for any General Manager or Head Coach because the MLS roster limits are 30 for each team. So, if the Portland Timbers want to add more players, get more depth, or generally improve the squad beyond what they have now, they'll need to free up more space.
Here's something that you might have missed if you don't pay regular attention to MLS's Extra Time Radio podcast. This last Monday, Gavin Wilkinson took the stage and spoke with the guys over there. While much of the conversation was pretty basic stuff, most of which we've known about for weeks if not months, they did bring up a couple players that we've all been very interested in since the 2010 Expansion Draft: Jonathan Bornstein and Robbie Findley.
According to MLS' website Bornstein has once again been transfer listed after not seeing much time with the first team and Monterrey not making the playoffs. The Portland Timbers currently have Bornstein's MLS rights when they acquired them during the Expansion Draft and according to the MLS roster rules site Portland looks to have rights of first refusal.
Tauro 0 - Real Salt Lake 1 RSL got the result they needed in Panama, staying in contention in Group 2. Alvaro Saborio's stoppage time penalty was the difference, setting up another must win in their final group stage game at home against Herediano. Saborio will be suspended for that game due to yellow card accumulation.
Mexico's Liga MX played over the international break. Michael Orozco subbed on in the 89th minute for San Luis in their 2-2 draw with Atlante. Luis Mendoza opened the scoring for San Luis in the 2nd minute with Noe Maya doubling that lead in the 61st. Atlante scored in the 81st and equalized three minutes into stoppage time.

a minute in, Carlos Quintero equalized in the 4th minute. Gomez scored in the 72nd. Jonathan

incluyen 13 jugadores:
Honduras stunned Mexico last night with a 2-1 victory in the legendary Azteca stadium. It was only the second time Mexico lost a qualifying game at home, and placed Mexico 4th in the current CONCACAF rankings. If they remain there, they will have to compete for a slot in the World Cup in a game against New Zealand, the top-ranked team in the Oceania Federation.
There may not have been a more memorable draw in U.S. Soccer history. Coming off the heels of a 3-2 win against Honduras that saw the USA through to the World Cup, the team needed only a point to finish first place in the group. For Costa Rica, a victory would mean a trip to South Africa. Going down two after a pair of goals from Bryan Ruiz, the U.
