Mario Balotelli's Scott Parker head stamp in all its gory
City as it did in Vincent Kompany's case is also unlikely to contest Mario Balotelli's violent
conduct charge which also suspends him for 4 matches. The image shows Balotelli really putting some
extra mustard in that head rake.
THFC1882 presents Adam Nathan's report of Tottenham Hotspur's visit to
Manchester City.
They are two time-old clichés, but not only is it a funny old game, it's also one heck of a
rollercoaster following Tottenham Hotspur. After a drab first half, the second period against
Manchester City yesterday afternoon pretty much had it all.
By JOHN BOSCHINI
Those who woke up early on Sunday morning were treated to one of the best Premier League games
of the season.
Manchester City used a last-minute penalty from Mario Balotelli to beat Tottenham 3-2 and go six
points clear at the top of the table.
By Chris Wright
In which, shortly before scoring the winning penalty in Man City's at-the-buzzer victory over
Tottenham yesterday afternoon, Mario Balotelli for reasons unknown quite obviously rakes his studs
down Scott Parker's Tibetan Fox face...
Not our Mario's finest moment.

The first half was as dull and dragging as the Utd vs Arsenal match. The second half was just
the opposite - a high voltage pulsating encounter between 1st placed City and 3rd placed Spurs.
Roberto Mancini's squad went ahead in the second half through Samir Nasri and Joleon Lescott, both
goals within minutes of each other.
In the big two Sunday games in the Premier League, both Manchester City and Manchester United
dealt big blows to North London rivals Spurs and Arsenal.
In the first game, Man City won a thrilling controversial 3-2 match thanks to Mario Balotelli's
injury-time penalty.
The controversy is whether Balotelli should have been on the field to score the penalty as he
appeared to stamp on Scott Parker's head.

Manchester City went six points clear at the Barclays Premier League summit after a late penalty
conversion from Mario Balotelli ensured a thrilling 3-2 win over a resilient Tottenham Hotspur at
the Etihad Stadium.
After a slow first half, the hosts came alive at the beginning of the second, with goals from
Samir Nasri and Joleon Lescott creating a comfortable two-goal cushion.
On Sunday, January 22, 2012, Manchester United will take the pitch against Arsenal at the
Emirates. Cognizant of the simple fact that Manchester United handed Arsenal an 8-2 loss that is
counted amongst the very worst in a period of 100 years, no one is giving much reason to believe
that the Gunners have a chance against the Red Devils.
Manchester city headed 3 points clear as they recorded a win over Wigan although the match
certainly won't go down as one of the greatest City performances of all time. I got a rather uneasy
feeling just before kick-off and it proved to be quite a nervy game all round as, I think it's fair
to say, City scrapped away to get a 1-0 victory in a half empty DW Stadium.
By the standards used to judge recent red-carded tackles like Vincent Kompany's against
Manchester United and Jay Spearing's against Fulham, on Wednesday night Glen Johnson at the very
least put himself in a position where seeing red was a very real possibility. Maybe even the most
likely possibility.
Glen Johnson's two-footed lunge near the end last night's victory again Manchester City has
provoked the ire of Roberto Mancini, and I can totally understand why. I agree with Mancini - it
was arguably worse than Vincent Kompany's tackle against Man United but, as per usual, Liverpool
fans, players and management will never admit it.

Just a quickie to let y'all good people know that Vincent Kompany will indeed have to serve a
four-match ban after the FA threw out Manchester City's appeal this afternoon because Wayne Rooney
wafted an imaginary gavel at them* during the hearing.
The Carling Cup semi-final legs between Liverpool and Manchester City look set to be mouth-watering
contests but who will be walking out onto the Wembley turf on February 26?
City have certainly been impressive to watch this season, as they have managed to cut out many of
the mistakes against lesser side that made them slip up in the Premier League title race last term.
Chelsea breathed life into their faint title hopes, while also helping open up the English
Premier League title race after handing Manchester City their first loss of the season in a 2-1
victory at Stamford Bridge on Monday.
Frank Lampard came off the bench to convert the game-winning penalty as a Joleon Lescott
handball doomed City to their first defeat, which leaves the Premier League leaders just two points
ahead of Manchester United.
Manchester City will face Liverpool in the League Cup semi-finals, as Cardiff City take on fellow
Championship outfit Crystal Palace.
Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night to secure their path through to the
final four, while Roberto Mancini's side was 1-0 victors against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
1. [A one conclusion silence for Gary Speed. His sad passing and its effect on many of the players
on display yesterday put things into perspective.] 2. Rio Ferdinand's defending has been so below
par this season in between his injuries that the linesman just assumed he must have mistimed what
was actually a fantastic [.

Why neither JT or Rio will start Euro 2012... and one may not go at all
The biggest mismanager at Chelsea isn't AVB... it's Roman Why gloating at City could come back
to haunt Napoli Has there ever been a better time for an English centre-back with an eye on
breaking into the national side?
Having just defeated the World Cup holders, Spain, and then Sweden, their bete noire (Sweden
were undefeated against England for almost half a century, until Tuesday evening), England have
gone nine matches without defeat. Fortunes are good, expectations are up, possibilities are
endless. England beat Spain without Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Steven Gerrard and
then they beat Sweden with Bobby Zamora, Stewart Downing and Theo Walcott in attack and Jack
Rodwell and Phil Jones in midfield.
Without their trusted larger-swigging trouble makers, England managed to pull off an emphatic
victory against the World Champions, writes Nicholas Spiller The stereotype of the English
footballer has become that of the pub brawler, a man who can out-drink anyone and can rough you up
on the pitch too.
England 1:0 Spain
Wembley Stadium, London
Wembley was full, sold on the dream of the king's touch, as the world's No.1
soccer nation Spain dropped by for an evening.
A strange pre-match atmosphere, as the usual patriotic fantasy rang increasingly hollow: No-one
expected England to win and most were hoping for a defeat short of embarrassing.
Having just returned to the playing field again with Manchester City after serving his
six-months suspension due to failing a drug test, Kolo Toure apparently has picked up an interest
to play with another team instead.
In an interview with RMC Sport recently, Toure stated that he is tempted to play for Paris
St.
I'm not entirely sure where to start with this article, but I can safely say that
yesterday represented, for me at least, the culmination of almost 12 months of agony whilst
following the fortunes of England and it's now hapless manager, Fabio Capello. A good place to
begin would be to think back to the Group qualifying game against Algeria in South Africa last
year at the 2010 World Cup.
Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott and star goalkeeper Joe Hart have both offered their
backing to the club's reported pursuit of Owen Hargreaves, whose injury-prone background and past
affiliation with bitter rivals Manchester United will make this a shock transfer.
City boss Roberto Mancini has openly expressed his need for another midfielder before the close
of the transfer window and having been linked without success with the likes of Mark Van Bommel,
Wesley Sneijder, Daniele De Rossi, and Fernando Gago, it now appears that the Eastlands outfit will
take a gamble on Hargreaves.
The next step for Financial Fair Play - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
It is fact that the gap between the "haves" and "have nots" in European football grows evermore
larger. Last season in the English Premier League proved this adroitly when Manchester City
midfielder Yaya Toure reportedly earned more per week than the entire Blackpool squad.
Manchester United defeated Manchester City 3-2 in a thrilling match to win the 2011 English FA
Community Shield on Sunday. United found themselves down 2-0 at halftime despite having the better
of possession on Joleon Lescott's header in the 38th and Edin Dzeko's long range driver in the
46th. The defending English Premier League champions got well-deserved [.

There we go. For what little it's actually worth, the 'first blood' bragging rights are United's
as far as 2011/12 is concerned with a slickly-taken brace from Luis Nani ensuring United got their
clammy hands on the Community Shield at Wembley earlier today.
Manchester United came from behind to erase a two-goal deficit and defeat bitter rivals
Manchester City 3-2 to lift the Community Shield in front of over 77,000 at Wembley.
In a game that easily matched the intensity of a Premier League fixture, both teams played
extremely physical from the very beginning.
Fabio Capello's latest England squad is notable from a Spurs point of view for the absentees
this time round. While Kyle Walker, Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe retained their places, Michael
Dawson and Aaron Lennon missed out.
Considering the case of Dawson, it seemed worth checking as to whether he had picked up injury
considering the positive comments he drew after the Wales qualifier.
