Halloween begins my Four-fecta of favorite holidays, as well as the beginning of my favorite
season of the year. For those that would like to know, yes, I am getting dressed up for Halloween
this year. My costume? Popeye. The biggest Popeye ever, but Popeye nonetheless.
Now, here is The Offside MVP John Wolyniec doing "THRILLER!

Though the rain may have followed it's way over from Giants Stadium to Red Bull Arena, and the
sky was as gray as ever, it could not dampen nor cast a shadow on today's accomplishment. Ladies
and Gentlemen, say goodbye to plastic turf; the final piece of sod is in place, and the Red Bulls
Kentucky Blue Grass pitch is finally complete.

Alrighty ladies and gents, while some may be writing about postseason plans with passionate
pride, I will be doing my darndest to keep things interesting around here till March of 2010. And
when a team isn't in the playoffs (holla TFC, and San Jose!), the front office has to do the
same.
It is in that vane that the Red Bulls announced their awards for team MVP, Defender of the Year,
Newcomer of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Fan of the Year.

The 2009 New York Red Bulls season, and the team's 14-year stay at Giants Stadium, will end just
after 9:30pm ET tomorrow night. It's fitting that tomorrow's match, versus playoff hopeful Toronto
FC, will be played on a wet, slick, artificial surface covered with football lines.
While Giants Stadium has hosted plenty of meaningful soccer matches in its day, the third-class
treatment that the NJ Stadium and Entertainment Authority has shown the MetroStars/Red Bulls since
1996 will be encapsulated in Saturday's 90 minutes.

How many times have you heard a sports journo or commentator use the phrase "That kid's got
heart!" It is one of those cliches that stands the test of time, much like the classic "he gives
one hundred and ten percent every play," and the ever so popular "he never takes a play off. He is
always competing!

So long, farewell &Â good bye. This coming Saturday, October 24th will officially be the very
last time that this club (MetroStars & Red Bull NY) in the NYC metropolitan area & US Soccer will
call home. This famed stadium named after the NFL team that plays their pointy ball seasons also
shares it with the other football league in the American first division.

Richard Dunne made his old club pay, but in the end neither Dunne's Aston Villa or opponent
Manchester City could take all three points on Monday.
Craig Bellamy's second-half equalizer made the final score 1-1 in an entertaining Monday fixture
at Villa Park. Dunne gave Aston Villa a first-half lead on a header scored over former Villa
midfielder Gareth Barry, but Bellamy continued his recent run of hot form by netting an equalizer
off an Emmanuel Adebayor pass.

Another action-packed weekend of Major League Soccer action saw a few draws which helped neither
side in their attempts to reach the all-important post-season playoffs.
New England Revolution headed to New Jersey on Friday evening hoping to pick up
three valuable points against
New York Red Bulls, and it looked for a while like
they might succeed.

A funny thing happened to the "We need relegation so that late season games involving teams who are
out of the playoffs won't be so meaningless and dull" theory:
It got blown all to hell.
Already-eliminated New York and might-as-well-be-eliminated San Jose*, both of them dead last in
their respective divisons would, under a single table/relegation format, currently be working out
their transfers to USL1 even as we speak.

As surprising as it might sound, New York returned to their recent form by not losing, drawing 1-1
with the New England Revolution at Giants Stadium. New England took the lead in the 13th minute
through Sainey Nyassi, with the Red Bulls coming back to equalize in the 69th when John Wolyniec
scored. New York had a chance to take three points late, but Macoumba Kandji couldn't keep his shot
on frame.

The man you see down on the field turf is a hard nose player that gives his all to the club and
tries his best to be a strong and needed player for this squad. No he doesn't have the greatest of
abilities like Juan Pablo Angel, or Landon Donovan, not even the power shot from long distance like
Dwayne DeRosario, but the one thing you can always count on from this man is the size of his heart
and the willingness to perform on the field and working hard in practice to make sure he can bury
those chances when his number is called upon.

Like an episode of Law and Order, Richie Williams is building a case for head
coach, 2010. And if he keeps this up, he won't have to press too much to get it done.

absolutely beautiful 70 yard run by Dane Richards (yes, that Dane

of the results.

Such a silly picture for a club that just can't pull their act together, but right now it
looks good on them at the moment. This was suppose to be their tournament to save this pathetic
season that they are apart of. Eliminated in US Open Cup Qualifying, an early elimination of the
MLS playoffs & the only thing they had left was the Qualifying Round of the CONCACAF Champions
League.

Wolyniec scored in the 19th minute, but they faltered just before halftime.

The New York Red Bulls take on David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy tonight at Giants
Stadium. The English superstar is set to play his first game for the Galaxy this season, which
might explain the larger than usual crowd tonight (though not the usual crowd for a Beckham
game).
The Red Bulls will be looking to end their own miserable winless streak and has the strongest
lineup they've fielded in months.

One point down, 39 to go, and 14 games to do it. Toronto FC represents the next "road block" for
the Red Bulls, who are scrambling to find points to keep this season alive. But points won't come
easy.
TFC boasts one of the strongest midfields in the league. Lead by the surprisingly cohabitable
tandem of Guevara and DeRosario, the Maple Leafs have been a terror to all
visitors this season.

- Man, 2001 was really pathetic wasn't it? Moreso if you look at the full leaderboard. Wynalda
was the only American in the top ten.
- Jeff Cunningham was counted from 2002 on, as he received his citizenship after the 2001
season.

Ah, the elusive 90 minute performance. Now I remember what a true victory feels like! It was
easy to expect United to let up a late goal after clearly being the better team for the entire
game, but instead they added another, thanks to our two veteran super subs.
All that glitters might not be gold here.
