The idea of John Gregory singing at all, let alone a Bruce Springsteen song, should sound like a very special story indeed. And it certainly is for all the right reasons surprisingly enough. The former Aston Villa manager who is still remembered fondly by the Villa faithful chose a charity fundraising gig [.
OTP revisits some of the transfers that the country's largest clubs would rather forget... 10.
Najwan Ghrayib The Israeli defender was being chased by Spurs until John Gregory snapped up the
player for Villa, following the recommendation of his scout that Ghrayib was the "best left back he
had ever seen".
Alex McLeish is a big gamble for Aston Villa - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Looking beyond the city rivalry, there's plenty of ammunition for Villa fans to suggest that
'Big Eck' is not the right man for the job.
Alex McLeish has won just 26% of his games as a Premier League manager, so far no Aston Villa
manager with more than five games in charge has posted such a low percentage.

As the end of the 2011/12 league campaign draws near, Bristol City have improved their ranks –
and their chances of surviving relegation – by bringing in some fresh blood.
The Robins have signed QPR's Hogan Ephraim and Andre Amougou, of Burnley fame, on loan until the

One of the bigger talking points has been the return of Ashley Young. James Milner showed class
by not celebrating at Eastlands recently, expect Ashley Young to do exactly the same today, but
preferably because he hasn't scored.
Either way, it's a tough game ahead and I suspect there will be a bigger interest in the manner
we McLeish approaches the game than any real expectation in getting much from it.
Darren Bent's first return to Wearside since his switch to Aston Villa has dominated the
headlines, but Steve Bruce will more concerned with trying to find what would only be his third
home win of 2011.
Alex McLeish is coming off the back of two losses; one far from unexpected, the other extremely
disappointing.
To the people who emailed me yesterday asking why there was no Arshavin content in the blog
despite the title, well, I just meant it was a little short. As you might imagine there is a
similar dearth of material today, just like yesterday, and today's blog could be Time Bandit
sized.
What are the odds Martin Jol pips Fergie to Manager of the Month? Derek McGovern's Bets
of the Day
Alex Ferguson won the title last season but Roberto Di Matteo, then at West Brom, won as many
manager-of-the-month awards as him. I can't believe he managed that with the players he had at his
disposal but he keeps delivering the goods, that Fergie.

You may or may not have an interest in cricket, but I highly recommend a BBC radio show from
this week for a listen to anyone interested in learning more about a taboo subject in the sporting
world: depression, something that afflicts men and women in every sport but is too rarely talked
about in a mature fashion.
