To all the guys reading this, here's our advice on shirt buttons: one open, you're fine, two open,
you're cutting it close, three or more and you look like you belong on Tool Academy. Peter Crouch's
party ensemble is Kickette (and probably Abbey) approved.
In order of preference, the Club Christmas party season ranks pretty high for us, right behind
'Ballers on Breaks (1) and the End of Season 'Ballers & Bubbas parades (2).

John Carew has never been one to loll on the sidelines of snappy and stylish clothing choices.
Not when cutoff denim and Fendi murses exist.
So while it's hard for us to guesstimate when Carew ditched this maven of mismatchiness for yet
another round of lust/love with socialite Hofit Golan, we realise it's unequivocally impossible
for this footballer (and others out there like him) to be out of our league.
Emma Davies on Twitter: "For all the ill-informed haters ... Kevin spoke to Tom Cleverly [sic] on

Name football's dirty players. Paul Scholes, perhaps. Midfield hardmen like Lee Bowyer and Joey

A Time for Tactics — How Liverpool Will Deploy Against Stoke
Before playing Stoke at Anfield last season, people were just starting to get a hint of how
silly it was to question Kenny Dalglish's tactical ability. After Liverpool's 2-0 victory , the
critics and cynics were left kowtowing to the King.

In many ways, this goal is quintessential Manchester United. The youth of the scorer, the
lateness of the hour and the nature of the comeback all emblematic of United under Ferguson's
stewardship. Aspects of a period of success, tied neatly together in one moment of startling
poignancy.

It's a little over 10 hours to go before the rumour mongers and speculation, erm, spasmos take
themselves a much needed break. At least for a fortnight or so, then they'll be back with a
vengeance, leading all the way up to the perennially underwhelming January window.
Until then, I thought I'd summarise this summer's movements to date, borrowing from the transfers
page, and throw in anything that happens during the course of this afternoon and evening.

In which every Liverpudlian's favourite Portuguese hipster midfielder, Raul Meireles, takes the

Long time Premiership striker John Carew is back in England after spending a summer back in
Norway. The giant striker found himself unattached after seeing his contract with Aston Villa
expire, and will now ply his trade at Upton Park with recently relegated West Ham United.
"The manager (Sam Allardyce) was very good," Carew told West Ham's official website.

Football transfer rumours: Gary Cahill to Liverpool
All today's Rumours are feeling sick Summer's gone. You can tell because it's raining outside,
and football's coming back. Oh summer! Cycling, cricket, golf, even the odd shaft of sun finding
its way through the cracks in the curtains every now and then.
It's official then, Charles N'Zogbia is a Villan. I'd assumed that it wouldn't be completed, or
at least officially announced, until after the weekend since just about everyone is in Hong Kong at
the moment, but I guess it really was just a formality in the end.
It looks like N'Zogbia is going to have the number 10 shirt, the same number he had at Wigan,
left behind by John Carew.
Aston Villa are taking 24 players to Hong Kong to compete in the Barclays Asia Trophy and the
travelling party are en route right now. As the strength and depth of the squad is a hot topic at
the moment, I thought it might be interesting to compare this pre-season tournament squad with the
squads from the last couple of seasons.
I've covered the Premier League 25-man rules several times since it first cropped up so I won't
dwell on the details in this post. If you recall, last summer we named 22 players within our
maximum of 25 players 21 years old or over on January 1st 2010 without any problems with the quota
of "home grown" players.
Owen Hargeaves' bizarre online self-advertisement acts a reminder of the talent that is available
to Premier League clubs in the form of free agents. The former Manchester United man has tongue
firmly in cheek in proving his fitness in gym-based YouTube videos, but is nonetheless a
come-and-get-me plea.
The summer transfer market window is now open as teams look at adjust their squads ahead of the
new summer. The summer transfer window will end on 31 August. Here is a list of all the confirmed
Premier League deals during this transfer window.

After a generally well received first press conference, it looks like life at Villa Park is
getting off to a predictably busy start for Alex McLeish. During his time in front of the cameras
on Monday, he mentioned being inundated with calls from agents offering their players, but it's the
futures of Carlos Cuellar and Michael Bradley that are capturing
the headlines first.
A host of Premier League clubs have released up to 123 players this summer with Patrick
Vieira, Jonathan Woodgate and Matthew Upson amongst the most high-profile stars let go this
summer.
The official list of ‘free agents' released on Thursday night features former World Cup
winners, former England internationals and Premier League champions.

It's the quote that debunked a thousand rumours. For this week anyway. I'll wager it won't be
too long before some tabloid nurk hauls the corpse out of the ground again, slaps a dress
and a bit of lippy on it and tries to pass it off as breaking news.

It's been a long ass while since the mighty Blues of London have taken the field in an official,

Nicklas Bendtner is likely to play in his favored central striker role on Saturday, when Denmark
make a short trip to Oslo, Norway to play a decisive qualifier for the European Championships in

missing for the Norwegian's and his own form.
Is that the worst title for a post ever? Alliteration aside (Oops... I did it again), there's just
no excuse for it. So let's forgo the usual long preamble (sorry, Neal) and just get into it, shall
we? The "Seven Premier League matches then your price jumps" theory was born out last night as

West Brom sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth has revealed that the Premier League

sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth said,
"It's not particularly nice and probably a new experience for me this week to come under public
