Joevin Jones and Nicolas Lodeiro have big games tonight.

While a pair of Seattle Sounders will be facing off in the United States-Panama game, two other Sounders have big games elsewhere. Joevin Jones' Trinidad & Tabago probably need at least a point at home against Mexico to keep their hopes of a World Cup berth alive, while Nicolas Lodeiro's Uruguay need to take advantage of a weak Peru.

Trinidad & Tobago punched ticket for Hex.

Although he's usually deployed as a left back, Joevin Jones has shown quite a bit of offensive flair in his limited opportunities farther up the field with the Seattle Sounders. But his display in Trinidad & Tabago's World Cup qualifier against Guatemala was quite unlike anything we'd seen before.

Nouhou Tolo is good—but he wants to be even better.

Even though Seattle Sounders general manager Garth Lagerwey noted offhand this week that S2's Nouhou Tolo would be on the first team roster this season, the club made Tolo's signing official today. The 19-year-old Cameroonian defender impressed the coaching staff enough in his 24 matches with S2 that they decided to promote him to the squad in order to back up Joevin Jones at left-back.

Facing a talented but struggling Columbus Crew and having already dropped six points at home, the Seattle Sounders faced what was pretty close to a must-win game on Saturday. The first half was a bit of a struggle, as the Crew missed a couple great chances to take the lead. But the Sounders absolutely dominated the second half, bossing possession and putting the Crew on their back foot.

The rest of the midfield and defense is as expected with Joevin Jones again starting after getting a bit of rest in the win.

Joevin Jones' starring performance and Clint Dempsey playing 90 minutes two huge positives.

Of all the ways the Seattle Sounders hoped to begin their title defense, I think it can safely be said that the first half of Saturday's game was not one of them. The Sounders were roundly outplayed, looked sluggish and frankly like a team that wasn't quite ready to play meaningful matches.
