As expected, confirmation that Richard Dunne has signed for Aston Villa:
CITY today said farewell to one of the club's most resolute and enduring defenders in Republic of Ireland star Richard Dunne, who has signed for Aston Villa.

The player's departure, confirmed this lunchtime after the Football Association checked the paperwork, signals the end of an era and Richard goes to the Midlands with the best wishes and gratitude of everyone at Manchester City.

The last dance of the season, of every season, the FA Cup Final is the jewel in the English Football Crown. Last year's final between Cardiff and Portsmouth was arguably the exception, but this year's certainly isn't:

Underdogs Everton come into the final for the first time in 14 years, since Joe Royle's infamous 'dogs of war' - led by the terrifying Duncan Ferguson - beat Manchester United in a final that was described by many as "rubbish".

Ten years ago

It's ten years tomorrow since one of the biggest games in City's history, even if it sometimes seems like just the other day to the heroes of that remarkable play-off final against Gillingham at Wembley.

Joe Royle's Blues, relegated the previous May to football's third tier for the first time in the club's proud history, were 2-0 down with 89 minutes on the clock and seemingly doomed to miss promotion.

A couple of months ago they were riding high in League One, then there was the fracas on a night out, then John Sheridan was sacked and now interim manager and Oldham Athletic legend Joe Royle has announced he WILL be leaving at the end of the season and the REAL LATICS will still be in League One next season.
