According to Paul Hirst at the PA, Totteham made a bid of around £35million
for Villarreal striker Guiseppe Rossi during the transfer window.
Manager Harry Redknapp said,
"Daniel [Levy] always said that if we found the right player then we would have gone for him but
it was difficult .
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that Spurs made a club-record bid of £35m for
Giuseppe Rossi on Monday. That bid was turned down, but Spurs expects to be back in the summer to
try again.
Redknapp said:
"Daniel (Spurs club chairman Daniel Levy) always said that if we found the right player then we
would have gone for him but it was difficult.
Harry Redknapp has been quick to confirm that Spurs did make a £35m bid for Villareal's
Giusseppe Rossi before the transfer deadline. In addition, it seems that we did also offer £38.5m
for Sergio Aguero and we were also chasing Fernando Llorente and Diego Forlan.
"The chairman would have bought someone for £30million for sure.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has continued with his customary post-deadline day 'the
chairman nearly did a deal for x,y and z' palava, claiming that the club lodged a late £35 million
bid for Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi.
Redknapp told the PA:
"(Spurs chairman) Daniel Levy always said that if we found the right player then we would have
gone for him but it was difficult.
