Following the conclusion of a loan deal to send full-back Vedran Corluka to Bayer Leverkusen for the remainder of the season, Tottenham Hotspur are set to live up to their expectations of making significant moves at the eleventh hour.

The 25-year old Corluka's work ethic has been consistently praised by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp but the Croatia international's playing time was limited this season by the emergence of youngster Kyle Walker.

There have been no further updates on Rafael van der Vaart's injury problem since last Friday when Joe Jordan stated that the player was 75% fit at the time.

It may be safe to assume therefore that VDV has continued his recover and is in line to take his usual place in the starting XI tonight.

As D.C. United continues its quest to find a new stadium location, MLS continues its exploration into whether Baltimore is a viable market for league expansion.

The league sent out a survey to fans in the Baltimore area in an effort to gauge interest in an MLS franchise in the city.

Old hat it may be for everyone else, but here at AANP Towers we bounce around the walls like toddlers on a strict diet of fizzy drinks and E-numbers as we await the start of our Premiership season. There may have been a tiny chance of a miracle comeback, mainly because we're Spurs and it's what we do. But there can only have been a handful of Spurs fans who could have genuinely said that they thought we'd drag it back at the Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur's first-team coach, Joe Jordan, has also been handed a one-match suspension for incidents in the match at Milan. Jordan clashed with Gennaro Gattuso, who was given a four-match ban for head-butting him.

Arsene Wenger and Samir Nasri have both been banned for one match by UEFA for remarks made to the referee after Arsenal's defeat by Barcelona.

UEFA said in a statement:

"Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and midfield player Samir Nasri have both been suspended for one UEFA club competition match following charges of improper conduct.

No I am not talking about any sulking Gooners either because we have every right to have the hump!

As you may be aware, UEFA handed Gennaro Gattuso a four-match ban for his little tete-a-tete with Tottenham assistant Joe Jordan last week which, in addition to the original one-match suspension he incurred by picking up a booking earlier in the evening , means that the Milan scrapper will now be unavailable for the next five of the Italian club's upcoming fixtures.

AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso received a four match suspension from UEFA on Monday for headbutting Spurs coach Joe Jordan in last week's Champions League Last 16 first leg clash.

He was already suspended for the second leg after being booked.

AC Milan told AFP that the player would not be making any reaction to the punishment and that they were not going to appeal.
