Soccer By Ives 27 October @ 08:50 AM EST

We are less than a month away from a pair of U.S. men's national team friendlies against fellow World Cup participants Slovakia and Denmark and it is growing increasingly difficult to project just who will be playing in central defense for the United States when those matches take place.

Tomorrow night the Wizards will end what's been a lackluster 2009 season when they take on DC United at Community America Ballpark. While this game means nothing for KC, it means everything for DC. The Wizards are back home to close out the MLS season with 2 home games against Seattle and DC. They start tomorrow against Seattle. While they are extremely slim, the Wizards are still barely in the playoff picture. By the time they take the field, though, KC could be eliminated if either Toronto or Salt Lake win. I'm sure most of you saw the United States' dramatic come-from-behind tie last night against Costa Rica in Washington, D.C. Ives Galarcep broke down the performance at ESPN Soccernet. Soccer By Ives 14 October @ 10:32 PM EST

Onyewu was challenging for a corner kick in the 83rd minute when his left knee gave after he tried to plant it.

Now What?

The Offside - Kansas City Wizards 14 October @ 04:05 PM EST

I decided not to comment on our 2-0 loss against Chivas since my arguments are the same as the Houston tie except for the Zoltan goal. This week we didn't even score and it would seem that playing those players in a slump (Wolff, Arnaud, Jewsbury) has brought nothing good.

The game did have a horrible offside non-call on the first Chivas goal, but in all honesty should be blamed on the assistant and not the ref (Mike Kuhn has all the evidence, and the video is clear also).

With the 2010 World Cup berth already secured, the U.S. national team will head into its final qualifier on Wednesday playing for a chance to top the CONCACAF qualifying group, and a chance to improve its place in the FIFA world rankings (as well as score a measure of revenge for the 3-1 thumping delivered by Costa Rica in June).

Wizards Fall/USA Clinches WC Berth

Hillcrest Road 11 October @ 12:20 AM EST
The Wizards fell to Chivas USA 2-0 tonight, limiting our faint chances for the MLS Cup Playoffs. With Columbus beating NE earlier in the day, we had a chance to pull within three points of the final playoff spot but could not get three points at The Home Depot Center, something that is never easy for the road team. Saturday Chivas USA Gameday

100 Percent Soccer 10 October @ 03:59 PM EST

Between the U.S.-Honduras WCQ and fighting female soccer players I haven't been paying a whole lot of attention to this game.

That's unfair because it's a big game for Chivas USA and their playoff aspirations, while a win would also likely kill off the Wizards' post-season hopes for good. But I'm also assuming that's exactly what will happen.
