Yes, Brucio is still away. Sources say he's exploring restaurant franchise opportunities in
Newfoundland. Please be patient with me. I am an amateur.
So how did everybody fare in Thursday's MLS SuperDraft?
Over at No Short Corners, Will Parchman is apoplectic that Enzo Martinez fell all the way to 17th,
where Salt Lake scooped him up.
After Twitter's recent compilation of Twitter Stories, the good folks at MLSsoccer.com took a
moment to reflect on the tremendous impact this social medium has had on Major League Soccer and
the American soccer experience. We posted a few of our favorites to the site in December, which you
can see here.
Continuing the stat updating for you tonight, it's time to update the 10,000 minute club.
In league play one new player joined the 10,000 minute club, as Michael Harrington became the 12th
player for Kansas City, Davy Arnaud also jumped up 1 spot on the list moving ahead of Jimmy Conrad.
Since it'd been a few days without a post I figured I'd give you a second post today as well on
stats. This time it's all competition goal scorers for Sporting KC in their history. First here are
some previous years for you.
1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010
On the list this year we add two new players to the list this season, other than that we see no
movement on the list this year.
More stats to update for you. This time it's the leading scorers in MLS play now through the 2011
season. First here are links back to the previous years.
1996 - 1997 - 1998 - 1999 - 2000 - 2001 - 2002 - 2003 - 2004 - 2005 - 2006 - 2007 - 2008 - 2009 -

Fans expecting their team to nab that missing piece of the MLS Cup puzzle in the Re-entry Draft
on Monday shouldn't get their hopes up.
Last year, clubs used the mechanism to bolster their rosters with the likes of Juan Pablo Angel,
Josh Wolff, Jimmy Conrad and Cory Gibbs.

Don't expect to be wowed by the second edition of the MLS Re-Entry Draft now that most of the
big names initially available are off the table.
Between Bobby Convey being traded to Sporting Kansas City, Bobby Boswell re-signing with the
Houston Dynamo, Ante Jazic re-signing with Chivas USA and Santino Quaranta retiring, the quality of
the draft pool has dropped immensely.

Sporting KC was busy today, making one trade, another player announcement, and talk of a second
trade taking place. It started during the weekend with a Tweet by Robb Heineman stating that there
would be an announcement today. At 1:30 we got the first of the announcements, a surprising trade.
Brian Bilello's announced seven-day window from the time of his conference call until the naming
of a new head coach is winding to a close, and so far we've learned a few things about the
Revolution's quest:
- There were around a dozen candidates identified and interviewed
- Jimmy Conrad announced, to no one in particular, that he was not interested in the job because
he hated football lines and had too much respect for Steve Nicol
- Paul Mariner, Steve Ralston, Jay Heaps, and Brian Bliss are definitely among the
candidates
- Paul Mariner ruled himself out immediately after interviewing, accepting a 2-year extension
with Toronto
- The candidates were gleaned from a diverse array of backgrounds, with MLS and non-MLS
experience throughout
It's probably a little late, but I'd like to take this opportunity to put forward my number-one,
most prized candidate for the job.
Lots of good stats from the game last night, including a landmark goal by Teal Bunbury.
In 6 games at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, this is KC's first win there. It was KC's first win in
Colorado since 6/9/2004 when Josh Wolff scored a 90th minute penalty kick.
Teal Bunbury's two goals were only the 3rd time in team history a KC player has scored multiple
goals in the playoffs, the other two times, Miklos Molnar in 2000 and Davy Arnaud in 2004.
Michael Lahoud has turned heads this year in more than one way. Apart from his steady play, he's
shown that one of the most notable factors about him is his motivation to give back to the
community. Born in Sierra Leone and now plying his trade for Chivas USA, the former WakeForest
midfielder is an integral part of the "Date a Chiva" fundraiser.

If Graham Zusi has taken one lesson away from the first three years of his
MLS career, it's been understanding the value of patience.
After being selected by the Kansas City Wizards in the second round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft,
the attacking midfielder made just nine starts and scored one goal in his first two seasons.
Their Words When I signed the pre-contract I thought things would speed up a bit but they kind of
slowed down instead. So it's been a lengthy process but I'm finally here and ready to join in. The
pre-contract was for January but part of the goal was to speed things up. Rangers midfielder
Alejandro Bedoya.
Graham Zusi has received quite a bit of attention recently. He was just named MLS Player of the
Week and has been touted as the next potential national team call up. I spoke to him recently as
was impressed by how humble and realistic he is about himself and his situation. Graham shared with
us his thoughts on Sporting KC, his future and how he spends his free time.

farewell to MLS last Thursday (Photo courtesy Chivas USA).
Read about the reasons for Jimmy Conrad's retirement in today's column.
Incidentally, MLS sent me a few more details of the enhanced protocols they implemented to deal
with concussions, which include:
*Outside consultation - Every team has an independent neuropsychologist who works with the team
doctor and head trainer to administer tests and interpret the results.

Very Kei Kamara centric for this week's after stats entries, each one retains to the man from
Sierra Leone.
Kei Kamara scored the 800th competitive goal in all competitions for KC.
Kamara also made his 100th MLS league start of his career.
STARTERSBrazil won the U20 World Cup over Portugal on Saturday. Mexico won the third place game. And
American Marc Geiger was the referee for the final. See details below in U20 World Cup section.

Yahoo reports that the Mexican Primera match on Saturday between Santos Laguna and Morelia was
stopped and suspended on Saturday after suspected drug gangs and police had a shootout on the
streets right outside the stadium.
Happy Monday everybody! Today's link round up includes one article which I, personally, found to
be very informative and interesting. it's about the Portland Timbers owner, Merritt Paulson (hence
the title). According to the article one very interesting thing is that the money Merritt borrowed
from his father to pay for the team and its MLS expansion has to be repaid.
Yesterday as a bit of a joke on retiring former Kansas City Wizards defender, Jimmy Conrad, there
was a roast done on Twitter using the hash tag, #JimmyConradRoast. Plenty of people got in on the
roasting, including current and former players like Kei Kamara and Alecko Eskandarian (see some of
the highlights here).

A couple things floating around my head on this Friday. The CCL, Charlie Davies and Jimmy Conrad
all warrant comment. Got anything you want to say, let us know below or on Twitter.
MLS and the CONCACAF Champions League- 2011 is looking very good for Major League Soccer.
Perhaps in no place more than the opening of the Champions League where MLS teams went 5 for 5 with
wins.

Another former SKC Wizards update a day late due to the game last night. Some big news involving
former Wizards this week. First, the big announcement that one of the greatest Wizards of all time,
Jimmy Conrad is hanging them up and taking a job with the Chivas USA staff. A smart move for Conrad
who hasn't played since early this season due to a concussion.

Like fans, journalists like to watch great players; players capable of fantastic quotes, we love
even more.
STARTERSThe curse is over! Dallas has done it! It's the first MLS team to ever win a game in Mexico! Oh
yeah oh yeah! It only took 25 tries! But its over!

Clint Dempsey scored twice for Fulham as they won in the Europa League today. Nice.

9 Americans played in the Europa League today.
United States National Team and Chivas USA defender Jimmy Conrad announced his retirement on
Thursday. The 34-year-old had been attempting to return to the club after recovering from multiple
concussions. "I spoke to people that are close to me, like my family, but mainly it was the doctors
and coaches who helped me come to this conclusion," Conrad said in a press statement.
Well, it took a number of years, and a couple dozen tries, but an MLS team has finally scored a
victory south of the border in CONCACAF Champions League group play as FC Dallas defeated Pumas
UNAM 1-0 in Mexico City. It shouldn't have taken this long, but sincere congratulations to Schellas
Hyndman's side for finally breaking the ice.
After 13 seasons, Jimmy Conrad is hanging up his cleats.
Conrad is scheduled to announce his retirement at a press conference at the Home Depot Center on
Thursday, signaling the end to a standout career.
Known mostly for his play in San Jose, Kansas City and with the U.
STARTERS
We received word late this afternoon that long time MLS star Jimmy Conrad will announce his
retirement on Thursday. He is currently at Chivas USA, but had his hay-day in San Jose and Kansas
City. Not to mention that he is one of the most entertaining of all players to ever grace the
league.
Jimmy Conrad retires: The Chivas USA defender, seen here in 2009 when he sustained a
concussion playing for the U.S., is calling it quits after suffering another concussion earlier
this season. (AP Photo).
Jimmy Conrad was supposed to be a recognizable and prominent face of Chivas USA after the
veteran central defender joined the club as captain on a two-year deal from Kansas City in the
offseason.
In amongst all the transfer chatter and trades around the league is a solid weekend of MLS
action where the Seattle Sounders will need to get a home win over Chivas USAif Sigi's club is to
remain in the hunt for the Supporters Shield. This midday match looks to have ideal footballing
weather with the Rave Green remaining in their own beds for a full week of preparation.
This week's former SKC Wizards update is here. Nick Cardenas is back on the radar, having played
for Sporting KC in their reserve game on Monday, and is apparently still in training now. May have
a shot at at least a short term contract with Daneil Cyrus now out. Here's the rest of this week's
update.
What lineup will Jurgen Klinsmann use tonight in his USMNT debut against Mexico?
We'll all have to wait and see of course, and another thing we'll have to wait and see about is
what players Klinsmann will rely heavily on during his time as US coach.
Might those players be on the field tonight against Mexico?

Here are this week's Sunday after stats. Some nice milestones for a few players.
Kei Kamara's goal was his 17th league goal for Sporting KC, that ties him with Eddie Johnson and
Jimmy Conrad for 9th place on that list.
The goal was Kamara's 18th in all competitions, breaking his tie with Johnson, Conrad, and Miklos
Molnar, and moved him into a tie with Matt McKeon for 11th place on that list.

You're all familiar with the 'Old Spice guy' advert, right? Well here's Chivas USA's frankly
brilliant parody in which stacked midfielder Michael Lahoud takes on the role of 'Chivas Guy' to
help flog tickets...
'I'm on...a Jimmy Conrad' has just become our catchphrase of the day!
STARTERS - BOB BRADLEY IS OUTBob Bradley was fired today as head coach of the USA national team. The federation has stated that
they will have another announcement tomorrow. Don't know if that will be about a new coach, or an
interim, or etc etc etc.
We here at du Nord are big fans of coach Bradley and want to thank him for all his hard work, and
wish him all the best in his next endeavor.
Omar Bravo's and Kei Kamara's 2 goals tie them with Eddie Johnson and Davy Arnaud for the most
goals against TFC. Funny note, only Johnson has scored in multiple games against them, the other 3
got their 2 goals in single games.
Kamara's goal was also his 30th in MLS play of his career.
Kamara's two goals moves him past Jack Jewsbury and Chris Brown into 11th place for the most league
goals for KC.
Today during half of today's Colorado vs Seattle, commissioner, Don Garber announced the two
commissioner's picks for this year's all star game against Manchester United. The two players
selected by Garber were New York Red Bulls' Juan Agudelo and Sporting KC's designated player, Omar
Bravo. Bravo joins teammate Matt Besler on the All Star team that will play Manchester United on
July 27th at Red Bull Arena.
