This used to be everyday at BMO Field. Sigh.We love us a transfer deadline day. The
MLS one is kind of fun for trades but with the multiple windows it can get a bit muddled. On the
flipside, when UEFA shuts its window twice a year - it is quite the spectacle. Teams scrapping it
out for the title trying to bring in a useful mercenary while minnows try to avoid relegation with
a timely loan signing or keep the club alive by selling an asset for big money.
szólj hozzá: Man City v Tottenham 3:2 MOTD
The first half was as dull and dragging as the Utd vs Arsenal match. The second half was just
the opposite - a high voltage pulsating encounter between 1st placed City and 3rd placed Spurs.
Roberto Mancini's squad went ahead in the second half through Samir Nasri and Joleon Lescott, both
goals within minutes of each other.
Tottenham Hotspurs ability to stay close with the two Manchester teams, especially with the
Lilywhites' latest victory over West Bromwhich Albiom, which continue to lift Spurs confidence in
challenging for the title.
The London club's winning goal scorer against West Brom, Jermaine Defoe, revealed that his team
will continue to provide pressure towards Man City along with Man United, who are currently ahead
of Harry Redknapp teams in the table.
What Now For Fernando Torres? - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Fernando Torres, once renowned as one of the most feared strikers in world football now finds
himself in a disastrous situation. Almost one year since his record breaking £50 million move to
Chelsea, Torres has scored mere 5 goals i.
Almost every team looks over their shoulder this time of year, and not at the teams around them
in the league, but at the clubs who are coming to try and sign their prize assets.
The harsh realities are that most clubs are defenceless against the big boys and that an offer
will get tabled that the smaller clubs are forced to accept.

Here we go folks. Pies' pick of the top ten Premier League players who are in desperate need of,
or who could simply benefit tremendously from, a loan move come January time...
10. Carlos Tevez, Man City
Let's get the obvious one out of the way up top.
Following the news last week that Jack Wilshere was so sick of Spurs fans tweeting him about us
being above Arsenal in the league, he put three grand of his own (pocket) money on a bet with Spurs
fans that Arsenal would finish ahead of Spurs. If they did, Spurs fans would have to send £1 to a
charity he supports.
Tottenham Hotspurs fine run brought their position high up in the league table as Harry
Redknapp's squad are not hanging at third behind the Manchester duo and with a game in hand as
well.
This situation pretty brought the optimism board around their players, such as Jermaine Defoe,
who believes that his team are on a verge to achieve something great by the end of season.
Having already acquired the service of Emmanuele Adebayor in the summer transfer window
apparently still doesn't pleased Tottenham Hotspurs hunger for another forward as reports from
Italy suggested that the London outfit are close in signing Carvalho Amauri from Juventus.
Revealed by renown agent, Ernesto Bronzetti, Amauri's chance in landing at Spurs is pretty big,
compared to other options.
Emmanuel Adebayor helped himself to a first half brace, but should have had at least a hat-trick
during a game that Tottenham barely had to break a sweat to dominate. In fairness, such was the
gulf in quality, we should consider ourselves fortunate to have left with the score only 2-0.
There were rumours before kick off that Alex McLeish intended to field Alan Hutton as a right
midfielder and Carlos Cuellar behind him at right back to deal with the threat of Gareth Bale and
that's what he did.

Jermaine Defoe scuttled backstage at the London O2 to meet Rihanna after her gig last night,
only there was one small problem and I don't mean that he was so nervous that a small bit of wee
came out...
Nope. Indeed the ricket was actually dropped by the semi-sexy nasal Bajan whingebag, who greeted
our Jermain thusly:
"Oh, Jermain, you play for Arsenal, yeah?

Another game, another three points for Tottenham and Harry Redknapp. The old adage of winning
while not playing well but picking up three points has been a distant stranger to Spurs in the past
yet has held true for a handful of their recent encounters; so often have they been accused of
being flat track bullies that it must almost be just as pleasing to edge past the likes of
Blackburn while under-performing than it was to blast past Liverpool for Redknapp.
Rafael van der Vaart has been dominating the headlines after his double strike on Sunday made it
five goals in four games for the Dutchman.
After complaining of being played out of position against Arsenal, Harry Redknapp claimed it was
a straight choice between VDV and Jermaine Defoe and while many thought that JD's partnership with
Adebayor shouldn't be broken, it's hard to argue with the manager's choice.
Car trouble for Rio, Ashley, Hammers and Bent
With the commercially-minded Karren Brady aboard, West Ham have a wider range of merchandise
than most Championship clubs. But could this be the first sign that things might just have gone a
little too far? ** Ashley Cole is taking no chances over the police crackdown on overtinted car
windows.
After recently voicing out his irritation about being placed in a new position at Tottenham
Hotspurs, Rafael Van Der Vaart's future at the club could very well be in jeopardize.
This possibility occurred after Spurs' manager, Harry Redknapp, answered back to Van Der Vaart's
statement by stating that if the Dutchman is insisting to play on his preferred role than the
ex-Real Madrid player must compete with Jermaine Defoe for one position in the starting eleven.
Some time ago, a friend and I were discussing youth power in football and how an academy brings
out talent time and again. I thought this would be an interesting topic to write on though it has
been thrown around quite a bit in the blogosphere already. But, given that it's international
weekend, Phil Jones has been prompted as a future England captain, and Jack Wilshere is causing
people the age of his Dad sweat over him, it sounds appropriate to devote something to the Next
Gen.

victory over a Liverpool side who saw both Charlie Adam and Martin Skrtel sent off on a

Tottenham 4-0 Liverpool: Nine-man Liverpool embarrassed by Spurs
Charlie Adam and Martin Skrtel were sent off as Liverpool went down to an embarrassing 4-0
defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon . A stunning goal from Luka Modric in the sixth
minute got the hosts off to an ideal start, before the Scotland international was dismissed for a
second bookable offence inside the opening half an hour.
Transfer Window Helps Tottenham to Mature - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
The transfer window closed with Tottenham Hotspur making only two significant deals, but
perhaps the North London club has finally grown up.
The signings of Emmanuel Adebayor and Scott Parker, address issues within the Spurs line up, but
left the fans with a deep sense of anti climax.
Former Miss England 2004 and Miss Great Britain 2006 Danielle Lloyd (27) has
always been destined to be a WAG having dated strikers Teddy Sheringham, Jermaine Defoe and Darren
Bent before finally settling down and having two boy's Archie (2) and Harry James 1 month with
Wolves midfielder Jamie O'Hara.
A young Manchester United side defeated Tottenham Monday night in what was the North London
sides first run out in the EPL this season. After having their opening game called off at home
against Everton, Spurs fans had to wait until the last day of week two to see their team
involved.
And it wasn't an enjoyable start for the Lilywhites as Manchester United were as ruthless as
they were clinical.
Numerous blogs, football news sites and tweets claim that Gervinho has agreed a 4 year deal and
Arsenal have agreed a £10.5M fee with Lille. Let's hope Gervinho brings something different to
our attack.
GoonerBlog is reporting that Samba has also agreed a deal with Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers have
agreed to sell Samba for £9M.
Huge disappointment this morning as Robin van Persie has 'clarified' the comments he made about
Chelsea and Spain.
Crossing his fingers and trying not to break his hole laughing, he said:
I respect my colleagues of Spain and Chelsea and look forward to playing against them for many
years to come.
Swansea's Sinclair deserving of England call? - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Anointing a youngster "future England regular" is an exercise both in optimism and presumption.
There have been several recent nominees for the position future England star from Jermaine Defoe,
through Jack Wilshere, Andy Carroll and even Adam Johnson.
It must have been a frustrating season for Jermaine Defoe. Anticipated to lead the line in
Tottenham's maiden Champions League campaign while expected to score the goals that would keep
Manchester City at bay long enough for the club to secure their place in European football's
premier competition once more; for one reason or another it never really happened for our lad.
Jermaine Defoe told everybody yesterday, that while he was loyal to Spurs, he wouldn't want to
spend another season on the bench at While Hart Lane. Jermaine Defoe Newcastle interested? Defoe
has had a surprisingly large number of games on the bench this season, and he's one of those
players who just wants to [.
Harry Rednapp's faltering Spurs side dropped more points again this evening, at home to
Blackpool.
Charlie Adam put the Tangerines in front with a successful penalty kick, having had one saved
minutes earlier by Gomez.
Blackpool were looking good for all 3 points until a great strike by Jermaine Defoe on 89mins saved
Harry's and Tottenham's blushes.
As Spurs face up to the reality that the 2011/12 season will not include a return to the UEFA
Champions League, supporters are left to rue the failure of Harry Redknapp to lure a top striker to
the club in the January transfer window. It certainly wasn't for lack of trying as Fernando
Llorente, Diego Forlan, Kun Aguero and Guiseppe Rossi were all targeted for a switch to White Hart
Lane to beef up Spurs assault on both the domestic and European front.
The Daily Express have linked both Newcastle and Sunderland with Spurs striker Jermaine Defoe.
Jermaine Defoe Newcastle interested? Like many of the good players at Tottenham this season,
Jermaine Defoe hasn't seen many starts, and he may decide in the summer his best option is to play
his football elsewhere.
By Darshan Joshi, writing from Kuala Lumpur
It was a game of fine margins. It started off according to script... or not. Sandro's glorious
half-volley, from well out of the penalty area after some good work by Rafael van der Vaart, rifled
itself past Petr Cech, who did well to get a few fingers on the ball.
Jermaine Defoe has revealed a confidence amongst the Spurs camp ahead of our crunch game this
weekend. Being quoted across the media today, Defoe has spoken of the belief at Spurs that despite
some big games coming up, they can get that fourth place again this season.
He said:
"It's a massive game.
This week was the release of Fabio Cappello's England squad who over the next two weeks are set
to face both Wales and Ghana, two sides who the English support as well as the British press will
assume can be surpassed with a degree of ease and aplomb (but with the height of England's
expectations who aren't they allowed to surpass with ease and aplomb?
Spurs' trio of players were largely interested onlookers during last night's England friendly
with Denmark.
Michael Dawson played for 60 minutes and although he seems to be sharing the blame with John
Terry for Denmark's goal, he will have been hoping to have staked a claim for a place in future
starting line-ups.
Like students remembering about their coursework, Prem clubs left everything to the last minute
and then rushed around doing all that they could, wise or not.
Liverpool were short on time and in the money with Torres' impending move, hence the swollen fee
for Andy Carroll. Any regulars to these reports (there probably aren't any) will know how much I
love Carroll, but even I baulked.
Harry Redknapp states that Spurs deserved at least a point from Saturday's game at Newcastle. An
injury time strike from Aaron Lennon secured a point for Spurs after trailing to Coloccini's goal
after sixty minutes.
"We absolutely deserved a point and it would have been an injustice if we hadn't got something
out of the game.
While Harry Kewell is in Qatar representing his home-land Australia, his wife Sheree
Murphy is at home, well, looking good...
Sheree Murphy is an actress and has known for her roles as Tricia Dingle on Emmerdale
(1998 to 2004). But quit the show to concentrate on bringing up a family, her character was
duly killed off.
Tottenham Hotspur showed today why they are not real title contenders by failing to beat 10 man
Manchester United at White Hart Lane this afternoon.
There has always been something missing from Harry Redknapp's side and in the last few seasons
and it has been that metaphorical x factor.
