The US hosts Costa Rica in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier tonight at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, tonight (ESPN, WatchESPN and UniMas from 7 p.m. CT.). Inpreparation for the matchUS Soccer has posted some classic video's of the two sides. So I'm putting them up here for your enjoyment.
It was one of the stunning, exciting and enjoyable moments in American soccer history, the U.S.
Men's national team's stunning 3-2 World Cup upset victory against Portugal on June 5th, 2002. That
day in Suwon, South Korea marked a turnaround for the sport in the USA, and helped spark the best
World Cup run by the USMNT in half a century.
Today is the 10th Anniversary of Brian McBride and the Goal, and Game that Changed Everything For
US Soccer. Here is a piece we wrote about that goal in October 2010. Nearly a decade before there
was Landon Donovan, Ian Darke and "Goal, Goal USA!", the United States Men's National Team took the
field at [.
After three games in the 'five-game tournament', several of the U.S. players have turned the
corner on some statistical benchmarks in their National Team careers. Here's the list, and
something you might not know.
Kyle Beckerman reached 20 caps
Beckerman has appeared in eight of the 12 games that Klinsmann has coached since taking over
last August.
Welcome to tonight's In-Game Blog for the match between the U.S. Men's National Team and Brazil.
We'll have all the information on this international friendly for the USA, including lineups,
pre-game facts and in-game notes from Landover.
We are hours away from USA-Brazil, and ussoccer.com has posted all the news and notes to get you
prepped. Here's some highlights:
With the 5-1 win against Scotland, the U.S. has collected five consecutive victories dating
back to last year, including three straight shutout wins against Venezuela, Panama and Italy to
open the 2012 campaign.
Sorry this took so long. This week had a lot of unexpected turns, and, as always, I could really
use some help here. Still, let's begin.
Winning the Cup last week did a number of things for the Galaxy, including topping off a
magnificent season and giving David Beckham serious reason to consider staying.
As people across the United States get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, we give you some extra food
for thought as we look at the year by the numbers. Here's 11 from '11:
A total of 46 players earned at least one cap for the full team; under Klinsmann, 28 players
got at least one game.
Carlos Bocanegra has enjoyed a distinguished career as a U.S. national team defender, and he
joined exclusive company on Tuesday, becoming the 12th player in U.S. Soccer history to reach 100
caps.
The steady U.S. captain marked the 3-2 victory over Slovenia by joining Cobi Jones, Jeff Agoos,
Landon Donovan, Marcelo Balboa, Claudio Reyna, Paul Caligiuri, Eric Wynalda, Kasey Keller, Earnie
Stewart, Tony Meola and Joe-Max Moore in the century club at the start of his 90-minute shift.
What lineup will Jurgen Klinsmann use tonight in his USMNT debut against Mexico?
We'll all have to wait and see of course, and another thing we'll have to wait and see about is
what players Klinsmann will rely heavily on during his time as US coach.
Might those players be on the field tonight against Mexico?

Scott French writes of how Chivas USA defender Jimmy Conrad sees similarities between
first year head coach Robin Fraser and San Jose manager Frank Yallop.
Jimmy Conrad's first day on the field with his new team reminded him of 2001.
That's a good thing.
San Jose's come-from-behind win this week was pretty exciting, but it does not compare to the
greatest comeback in MLS playoff history. It, too, was produced by San Jose as the team ran
toward the 2003 championship. Like this year the 03 playoffs started with a two-game series that
counted total goals.
Nearly a decade before there was Landon Donovan, Ian Darke and "Goal, Goal USA!", the United States
Men's National Team took the field at the Jeonju Castle in South Korea for the Round of Sixteen at
the World Cup Finals. In a host of personal reflections on that day, I've often wondered if the
members of Bruce Arena's 2002 United States side understood at all, or had given much thought to
the notion at least, that this was a day where they were playing.
A nice article by Steve Goff this morning tells us that the league is adding some new rules to help crack down onplayers or coaches disrupting a match. Theleague's board of governors has approved a rule that would penalize teams and coaches when three or more individuals confront a referee or opponent.
Academy players are not only competing for their chance to become the national champions at the
2011 Finals Week, but are also gaining valuable knowledge and training on how to achieve the
ultimate goal of many players here: to become a professional soccer player.
This morning, the U-17/18 age group piled in to Weasler Auditorium at Marquette University to hear
Jeff Agoos, a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame and one of the all-time appearance leaders
for the U.
Richie Williams is set to join some exclusive company at RFK Stadium.
The former D.C. United player will be inducted into the club's Hall of Tradition at halftime of
the team's match against the Portland Timbers on Aug. 27. Williams joins John Harkes, Marco
Etcheverry, Jeff Agoos, Raul Diaz Arce and Eddie Pope as players to earn the honor.
Jeff Agoos is making his way back to a front office in New York.
Agoos, a former standout in his playing days and one-time sporting director for the New York Red
Bulls, has been hired by Major League Soccer to be the league's technical director of
competition.
By Clemente Lisi - NEW YORK, NY (Sep 7, 2010) US Soccer Players -- For years, DC United was one of
the best teams in Major League Soccer. In their prime, they had foreign stars like Marco Etcheverry
and Jaime Moreno alongside US National Team regulars like Eddie Pope, Tony Sanneh, John Harkes and
Jeff Agoos.
While the match between the MLS All-Stars and Manchester United on Wednesday July 28, 2010 at
Reliant Stadium is the focus of the MLS All-Star festivities, there are other events leading up to
that match worth checking out if you're in Houston.
One such event is the MLS All-Star Celebrity Soccer Match, which will take place on Tuesday July
27th at 5:00 pm at Discovery Green in downtown Houston.

Ever since Amado Guevara was shown the door, I've been clamoring for an actual #10 Creative
Midfielder for our team - to absolutely no avail. That genius Bruce Arena (besides destroying our
pretty good backline in 2007) saddled us with the perenially injured Claudio Reyna, who (as a
defensive midfielder) was absolutely not the creative player we needed.
The Galaxy have signed Robbie Keane, making their current Designated Player striker, Juan Pablo
Angel, a disposable asset.
Of course, the move didn't come from out of the blue. The Galaxy need a forward who can be
effective, or the club probably won't survive the playoffs. Angel wasn't much of a force for the
Galaxy at all.

There's good reason for why Los Angeles Galaxy striker Chad Barrett did not accompany the club
for its current trip to the Pacific Northwest.
Barrett is on trial with Norwegian club Valerenga this week, a club reportedly looking to fill
a hole at striker, and he will miss Wednesday's match against the Vancouver Whitecaps and
Saturday's battle with rival Chivas USA as he tries to make his case for a move to Europe.
Hall of Famer Jeff Agoos, one of only two players to have won five MLS titles, has left the New
York Red Bulls, where he served as technical director and then sporting director, to join MLS's
league office as technical director for competition matters.

American defender Jeff Agoos has come out of retirement and will play for the San Jose Earthquakes
this season. Public Relations Director Shirley Jo King has issued a press release stating that
Agoos will wear uniform number 14. Realistically, Agoos will probably not start or even contribute
seriously to the Earthquakes this season, but may appear off the bench.
A Spanish court has ordered the Primera Division to play their games this weekend. The teams had
been prepared to walk out over a dispute of TV revenue.

The Guardian reports that the Chinese government paid for the rebuilding of the national stadium in

Our friends over at The Yanks Are Coming did such a good job coming up with annual awards that
we wanted to....steal them and make them our own. Maybe a little....we just wanted a ballot...and
we got one.
