What's a derby if it doesn't involve putting out a fire by the time the whistle is blown?! Well,
Portugal experienced their own 'clássico' on Saturday, when
Benfica defeated Sporting 1-0, thanks to a goal from Javi Garcia. Benfica are now
in top spot (yes, we hear a couple of you rejoicing!
Lots of Arsenal news filtering through this morning, not least of which is the report alerting
us that Peter Hill-Wood does not expect to open contract talks with Robin van Persie until the end
of the season.
RVP's current deal is due to expire in 2013 and, obv, AW and the like are keen to get him to
sign a new but apparently he does not want to do that until the summer.

match with SL Benfica of Portugal on Wednesday.
The first leg of the Trabzonspor v SL Benfica UEFA Champions League third qualifying round will
begin at 9:45 p.
Benfica get set to kick off their European campaign at home tomorrow as the face Turkish side
Trabzonspor in the first leg of Champions League play. Jorge Jesus has announced a roster of 19

Benfica have defeated Pacos Ferreira 2-1 to win their thrid straight League Cup today in Coimbra.
Benfica got first half goals from Jara and Javi Garcia before an own goal by Luisao in the second
half cut the lead to one. This made things a bit more interesting at the end but Benfica hung on
for the victory.
Benfica not only lost their 18 game win streak with the loss to Braga yesterday they also lost
three players for their upcoming encounter against Portimonense in Week 23 of the Portuguese
League.Benfica will be without the services of Javi Garcia who picked up a red card in the game
against Braga as well as Maxi Pereira and Luisao due to yellow cards.
Benfica went into the Dragao today and took the first leg victory over FC Porto in the fight for
the Taca de Portugal Championship, Benfica got two early goals twenty five minutes into the game
from Fabio Coentrao and Javi Garcia and held off the league leaders the rest of the way and with
one man short after Coentrao was sent off in the 59th minute for the 2-0 victory.
