Will San Jose lose one of their players in the expansion draft? (Getty Images)
Today is the final day in our expansion draft coverage/speculation/etc. as we look at three
clubs. First up this morning is the San Jose Earthquakes. Later on today I will have Seattle
Sounders FC and Toronto FC to round out the lists.
There are just two weeks left in the MLS regular season and the jockeying for the final four
playoff spots will be extra intense this weekend as a handful of vital match-ups look to clear up
the playoff picture.
The Chicago Fire, Seattle Sounders and Colorado Rapids can lock up playoff spots with wins
this weekend while the New England Revolution attempt to halt a late-season slide that has several
contenders dreaming of grabbing the final playoff berth.
The Columbus Crew once again came away empty handed in a Group C match against Cruz Azul. Two first
half goals from the visitors were enough as Columbus fell 2-0. Click to continue reading...

You've got to be kidding. For the second time in less than a week, Conor Casey scored on a
penalty kick deep into extra time as the Colorado Rapids tied the San Jose Earthquakes 1-1.
Eric Avila has made 16 subs without a start. Needs four more in the final five games to break
the record, or three to tie.
The worst Supporters Shield winners in MLS history were the 2004 Columbus Crew at 1.633 PPG.
Somebody will need to finish with 50 points to surpass them.
Due to time constraints, I'm only going to have time for a quick look at tonight's match up. I
haven't carved out enough time to get through seven (quality) previews in time for kickoff between
San Jose and New York. Part two will be up late Friday night/Saturday. Here goes with tonight's
game:
New York v San Jose Desperation reeks from this one as a disappointing Red Bull squad take on a weakened San Jose
side.
The U.S. men's national team added a pair of defenders on Tuesday to cover for the absences of
Clarence Goodson and Cory Gibbs, and it was a pair of defenders you might not have expected to
see.
San Jose fullback Jason Hernandez and Colorado central defender Ugo Ihemelu were called in by
U.

Five changes for Chivas USA tonight with a Tuesday CONCACAF preliminary round game looming
Tuesday in Panama as Coach Preki tries to rest some starters, while defender Cary Talley is the
latest to join a long injury list with a thigh strain. Six players are still out including striker
Maykel Galindo
Zach Thornton is in goal, while Jim Curtin replaces Claudio Suarez as the long defensive
change.
Last week, the New York Red Bulls let two points slip away in injury time vs. LA at home. Sunday
afternoon, New York will have a golden opportunity to escape last place in the East when they play
the West's bottom-feeder, San Jose (3-9-5), at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara (3p, MSG+). The last time out, the New York offense was invigorated by the addition of midfielder Jorge Rojas,
who assisted on both Red Bull goals in 2-2 draw with the Galaxy. Click to continue reading...
San Jose Earthquakes 1 Colorado Rapids 1. San Jose was robbed as far as I'm concerned.
How the linesman or Hilario Grajeda did not spot Conor Casey's push of Jason Hernandez in the 69th
minute is beyond me. It was also the moment Grajeda lost control of this game. The game was already
physical to begin with.
I'm watching the San Jose-Colorado match and I saw two things that I you don't see every day: - San Jose scored a goal - Frank Yallop got sent off First, the goal. Ryan Johnson smashed a diving header past Bouna Coundoul with about 30 minutes
left in the game. Unfortunately for the 'Quakes, Conor Casey equalized about five minutes after. Click to continue reading...
For the first 35 minutes or so this was a frenetic, yet largely directionless game, punctuated
only by a 16th minute Jonathan Bornstein shot that Earthquakes goalkeeper Joe Cannon did well to
hold onto with one hand.
Then, while the half ended 0-0, the scoring chances started coming fast and furious beginning in
the 37th minute.
Chivas USA (5-6-3) can jump from sixth to tied for first in the Western Conference with the
Galaxy if they manage to beat the worst team in MLS, the San Jose Earthquakes (3-8-3), who have one
goal in the last four games while going 0-2-2.
Coach Preki makes three changes to the team that drew 1-1 last week with the Red Bulls.

so. ~and~ Germany are the first team to advance to the Semifinals of Euro 2008. See details in the Euro

Part one can be found here. One small note, the second leg of Guatemala vs St. Lucia will be played in Los Angeles. That's St. Lucia's home game, so they've also decided to cash in ala Belize. Thanks to "lovingthegreen" on Bigsoccer for the info, as well as compiling the dates and times.
I've been out of town and away from the computer for the holiday weekend so I missed the
expansion draft. San Jose was able to draft 10 players while I was gone. I don't have much else
to say (or the energy) so I'll leave you with the list:
Ryan Cochrane (Houston Dynamo)
Clarence Goodson (FC Dallas)
Ned Gravaboy (Columbus Crew)
James Riley (New England Revolution)
Joe Vide (New York Red Bulls)
Ivan Guerrero (Chicago Fire)
Brain Carroll (DC United)
Jason Hernandez (Chivas USA)
Gavin Glinton (LA Galaxy)
Chris Pozniak (Toronto FC)
No one picked up from Kansas City Wizards, Real Salt Lake or Colorado Rapids.
