Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing's bid to establish himself as a viable replacement for Lucas
Leiva was disrupted recently with a red card and an injury in quick succession recently, but the
homegrown midfielder returned to great effect against Manchester City and Wolves, and according to
Liverpool legend Jan Molby, Spearing is becoming one of the most important players in Kenny
Dalglish's team,
Midfield legend Jan Molby is convinced that Liverpool can beat Manchester United tomorrow in the
hotly anticipated FA Cup tie at Anfield. The Dane has also dismissed the threat of self-confessed
cheat Wayne Rooney, and highlighted Antonio Valencia as United's only danger man.Speaking to the
Liverpool Echo, Molby argued that United 'are there to be got at', and insisted that Alex

Liverpool face Bolton on Saturday in what is surely a must-win game, and with 10 straight victories
against the Trotters, Anfield legend Jan Molby believes that Kenny Dalglish's team will capitalise
on the 'reckless' style of Owen Coyle's team, and emerge victorious. In his column for the Liverpool
Echo, Molby conceded that Liverpool's performance against Stoke was 'very disappointing', but he
Jan Molby believes Liverpool will face a different type of challenge to the one they overcame
midweek against Manchester City when they meet Stoke at Anfield on Saturday.
The Dane, who made 292 appearances for the club, also believes Andy Carroll has an important part
to play, both in attack and defensively, if the Reds are to take all three points.
A few weeks ago, this site exclusively revealed the close links between Denis Smith - a member the
Suarez-Evra 'Independent' Regulatory Commission (IRC) - and Manchester United, specifically his
ties to Darren Ferguson. Despite the obvious potential for subconscious bias, Liverpool's Solicitor
did not request Smith's removal from the panel.
Hot on the heels of Liverpool legend Jan Molby claiming Andy Carrol would never make it Anfield,
former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has argued that the former Newcastle man is a 'waste of
money'. In his weekly column for The People, Collymore - who formed a lethal partnership with
Robbie Fowler between 1995 and 1997 - expressed some sympathy for the struggling striker, but

Former Liverpool midfield maestro Jan Molby has admitted that he isn't sure how Andy Carroll fits
in at Anfield, and he's suggested that the ex-Newcastle striker might be best served by leaving
Anfield for a club that's more suited to the way he plays. When asked by Dutch website Onside.dk
whether he thought Carroll would ever fit in at Liverpool, Molby was brutally honest in his

IT'S that time of year again: the Christmas tree is up or at least threatening to be, the snow
is falling or at least threatening to, and the streets are packed with frantic shoppers threatening
to do things to the next person to get in their way as they search frantically for the ideal
pressie for their loved ones, never quite sure if the loved one in question already has that
particular one anyway.
Jamie Carragher is struggling to get into the Liverpool team at the moment, and if Daniel Agger and
Martin Skrtel continue to perform well, the club's vice-captain could be warming the bench for a
while yet. Is Carra's time up? Former defensive stalwart Mark Lawrenson gives his view on the
issue.

Despite being the club's second-highest shot-creator, Liverpool left-winger Stewart Downing has
failed create or score goal in over 15 hours of football this season. It's a concern, especially
for an an International player in the prime of his career, but the former-Aston Villa midfielder is

I'm a big fan of Charlie Adam; the Scot is a modern day Jan Molby, and he shares many of the Great
Dane's footballing characteristics, such as exquisite passing ability; great close control; a
venomous shot, and of course, a distinct lack of pace (!). As we've seen this season, Adam seems to
tire early in games, which allows the opposition to exploit the gaps he leaves in midfield.
Jan Molby believes Jordan Henderson's strike for England U21s has given him a lift that could see

The Reds will be without the suspended Lucas Leiva for the visit of Paul Lambert's men and Molby is

Part 1...Fat FootballersIf I was to ask you to name the fattest footballer currently plying their trade in the Premiership
then what would your answer be? A difficult question to answer isn't it. Perhaps Yakubu? And even
then he is hardly a Rik Waller lookalike. Fat Frank? Lets be honest here, this is really just a
moniker and probably arose because over 10 yards he is slower than most people's grannies, rather
then anything to do with his actual physique.
Liverpool legend Jan Molby says today's merseyside derby result will be 'hard to predict' but

Liverpool legend Jan Molby believes that box-to-box midfielders like Steven Gerrard are a 'dying
breed', and that Liverpool's captain may have to adapt his game if he's to be successful for the

**This week's guest post comes courtesy of Tony, who's been commenting

It's normally Sesame Street "that is brought to you by numbers..." but today its the turn of
Liverpool FC to introduce their 14, 26, 11 and 20 for the forthcoming 2011/12 season.
It wasn't that long ago that Liverpool's summer purchases were sadly under the control of two
muppets, neither as funny as Statler & Waldorf although their promises were certainly
laughable.
Jordan Henderson may be the new owner of the Number 14 shirt at Liverpool but who it has also
been held by two previous technical masters of the game in the form of Jan Molby and Xabi
Alonso.
Who do you think was the better though?
