After months of stagnating, the U.S. men's national team is back on the rise in the FIFA rankings, although barely.

The United States improved one spot to No. 33 in the latest rankings after having spent the last three months at the No.

The United States moved up one place to 33rd in the January 2012 FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. Mexico stays 21st, remaining first overall in CONCACAF. Spain remains the World #1, with Holland, Germany, Uruguay, and England rounding out the top five. Elsewhere in CONCACAF, Panama moves up to 47th and Honduras is 51st.

In one of the biggest surprises in all of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying, the tiny island nation of Antigua and Barbuda have reached the semifinal round for the first time in history after defeating Haiti and capturing the top spot in Group H. They won each of their first five matches in the second round by a combined margin of 25-3.

The U.S. could learn its final opponent tonight for the semifinal round of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup when Antigua and Barbuda hosts Haiti. With the results not going the United States national team's way, it's no surprise that Jurgen Klinsmann's side continues its slide down the FIFA rankings.

The United States fell three spots to No. 34 -- sandwiched in between 2010 World Cup foes Ghana and Algeria -- following its win over Honduras and loss to Ecuador.

The United States is 34th in the October 2011 FIFA Rankings released on Wednesday. Mexico dropped to 22nd, first overall in CONCACAF. Spain remains the World #1, with Holland, Germany, Uruguay, and Brazil rounding out the top five. Elsewhere in CONCACAF, Jamaica drops five spots to 50th, Honduras is down four spots at 57th, and Costa Rica drops five places to 62nd.

Another day of international duty for Sporting KC players today. Four players had national team duty today, three of them started. The one to not start, didn't even appear for his country, as Teal Bunbury didn't make the bench again for the United States in their 1-0 loss to Ecuador tonight in New York.

Roger Espinoza put in another solid performance for Honduras going 74 minutes, but Honduras fell to the US 1-0 tonight down in Miami on a nice finish by Clint Dempsey. Sporting KC's other player involved in this game, Teal Bunbury, did not make the 18 man US roster for the game tonight. Espinoza played the role that he's made his own for Honduras as of late.
