After a disappointing draw against Stoke at Anfield, the Reds will be looking to put that behind them and take all three points from a struggling Bolton side.

For a few hours on Saturday, Tottenham were second in the Premier League, until Phil Jones scored the only goal of a turgid affair between Manchester United and Aston Villa.

But if Spurs continue to turn in the sort of sumptuous performance that secured a 3-0 win against Bolton at White Hart Lane on Saturday and a sixth successive Premier League win, what's to say Harry Redknapp's side can't flirt with the highest reaches of the top flight for at least a little while longer?

Well, I am sitting here in a cabin at the smoky mountains and everyone with me is keen to move out into the forest so I will keep this short.

I thought both teams started brightly. Bolton came with a plan to press Arsenal all over the pitch, a plan that has worked for many teams, and a high-ball strategy (let me not call it long ball) that almost reaped instant dividends.

After our last league fart, that awful rainy day against Blackburn, everyone, from Wenger to the average fan, saw this match as the true must-win. Robin van Persie said our season started today. The poisonous pundits smelled blood had we lost this one, and for the first time I was inclined to agree- losing at home to a sinking Bolton, with the second-worst EPL defense this season (try to guess who had the first), would have been just too much for us to bear.

Everton's troubles continue as they were only able to name 18 players, seven short of the maximum, in their official squad submitted to the Premier League.

However, that 18 does not include Under-21 players, so the likes of Ross Barkley do not feature but are still eligible to play as clubs can use an unlimited number of younger-age players.

And it should have been more. Potential in action. The frightening thing is that there's still plenty of room for improvement.
Liverpool's formation looked more like the 4-2-2-2 that faced Sunderland at Anfield rather than the 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 at Arsenal.

Perhaps the only highlight of former Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson's painful reign last season came when his side did the double over Bolton Wanderers. But even those slim pickings, secured on New Year's Day with a late Joe Cole goal at Anfield, not long before Roy was told to do one, can be put into context: it was Liverpool's fourth double in a row over the Trotters.

I will not pretend to know the complications of football contracts. There is a lot of pleasing to be done for multiple parties, and striking that balance must be difficult. That said, the whispers that Jussi's contract talks are not going well are worrying. I think it will be time for him to move on (or retire) quite soon, but the fact is that right now we don't have reliable back up for him.

The relegation battle took another turn today as both Bolton and Wolves got impressive wins.

Wolves went to the Stadium of Light and beat Sunderland 3-1, a win that lifts them into 16th place, on 40 points.

Sunderland, who were playing without a recognised striker on the pitch, fell behind when former Sunderland player Jody Craddock volleyed home Stephen Hunt's deep cross eluded.

Usually I'm not all that enthused about the extended international breaks that occur during the season, because it means that there's a two-week gap between Manchester United matches.

But for once, I say thank goodness for the international break, because at the rate that we're losing defenders this way or that, I'd rather us not have a match this week or weekend.

Having the same injury issues especially at the back, the two top leaders got a different results on Saturday as Man United ran away with the three point, while Arsene Wenger's team goes home with only one.

What a match! Even from a neutral's perspective, this was an exciting one. While neither team showed much on the defending side of things, the fast paced attacks coming from both ends made it difficult to blink. To me matches like this are better than watching Barcelona completely outclass some poor team.

We're going streaking! Well, not really. Damn. This match at Newcastle is full of streaks, however. After that awful mid-season slump, Bolton have won 4 of 5 in all competitions and are unbeaten in 5 of 6. All of those matches without a loss were accompanied by a clean sheet courtesy of Jussi Jaaskelainen in the Premier League and Adam Bogdan in the FA Cup.

After 92 minutes at the Reebok Stadium, Wolves were looking set to earn themselves a creditable draw. After 93 minutes Bolton had nicked a goal and had escaped with all three points, condemning Wolves to their 15th defeat in 24 games.

The point earned from the 0-0 draw was beginning to look like a necessity on a night when all around them were picking up points.
