Spain remain on the top spot, England moves up to third place, and Brazil drops down to 13th place in the latest FIFA Men's World Rankings. The team making the biggest jump in the top 30 are Ecuador who are up seven spots to number 20. The United States, who have usually been in the top 30, are at 36 and three points by Serbia.

The latest FIFA World Rankings are out and Spain continues to be on the top spot. There is a bit of change in the top 5 as the Netherlands move up to 2nd and Germany moves down to 3rd. Brazil rounds out the top five by moving up two spots while fellow South American side Argentina jumps three spots to eighth place.

Argentina boss, Diego Maradona, commented on recent controversies with UEFA President, Michel Platini and his long-time nemesis, Pele'. Both had questioned Maradona's management credentials although apparently, Platini was misquoted. Maradona also provided intriguing insights on Luis Fabiano's controversial hand ball against Cote d'Ivoire and some thoughts about his team during during a press conference published by Buenos Aires newspaper, Clarin, ahead of Argentina's last group round match against Greece.

Today's pick of the world's front pages takes us to Brazil this morning, as the country prepares for their game against Côte d'Ivoire today.

Africa Cup of Nations 2012 Team of the Round, Matchday 1 is a post from: Just Football

We have seen 15 goals in 8 opening games of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, with some fascinating fixtures and a few hints as to how the tournament might unfold. Only one game was separated by more than one goal, co-hosts Gabon beating Niger 2-0, while there have been no heavy defeats for any of the less-fancied teams, with the likes of Sudan and Botswana, and even Niger to an extent, more than holding their own against continental powerhouses like Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana.

Undoubtedly one of the favourites for the African Cup of Nations 2012 in a few months time considering the absence of other big names such as Nigeria, Cameroon and Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire will be hoping this will be the kit that sees the Elephants finally cement their as yet unsecured position as one of Africa's best international sides of the last decade.

The stage is set for next year's Africa Cup of Nations which will be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea after the final round of fixtures played this weekend confirmed the 16 nations that will grace the 28th edition of the continent's ultimate footballing tournament.

The 16 nations are: Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Morocco, Libya, Ghana, Angola, Botswana, Tunisia, Sudan, Zambia and Niger.

After having the long list leaked and the short list announced, the final list of nominees for CAF's 2010 African Footballer of the Year have finally been announced.

And the nominations for Africa's 2010 Footballer of the Year go to...

Didier Drogba (Côte D'Ivoire/Chelsea)
Asamoah Gyan (Ghana/Sunderland)
Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon/Inter)

If you read my earlier post on the nominations, you probably aren't surprised by the names appearing on the final list.

Ivory Coast international striker Gervinho has expressed his desire to continue his club career in France despite attracting offers from top European sides including Liverpool.

Of course the Elephants of� Cote D'Ivoire are known because of their most famous export Didier Drogba. However, Double D is now 32 years old and closer to retirement.

Dijon, who will compete in France's top flight for the first time in the club's history this season, announced the signing of Freddy Drogba on Wednesday. Freddy is, of course, the younger brother of The Mighty One.
