Spain remain on the top spot, England moves up to third place, and Brazil drops down to 13th
place in the latest FIFA Men's World Rankings. The team making the biggest jump in the top 30 are
Ecuador who are up seven spots to number 20. The United States, who have usually been in the top
30, are at 36 and three points by Serbia.
The latest FIFA World Rankings are out and Spain continues to be on the top spot. There is a bit
of change in the top 5 as the Netherlands move up to 2nd and Germany moves down to 3rd. Brazil
rounds out the top five by moving up two spots while fellow South American side Argentina jumps
three spots to eighth place.
We continue our visual assault on Chelsea youth prospects with a look at Lucas Piazon's day for
A Seleção against a highly talented Côte d'Ivoire side at the Under-17 World Cup in Mexico. The
so-called new Kaka looks a player, it must said.
Piazon scored the opener a real cool finish then set up the leveler with what was the last kick
of the match.
Argentina boss, Diego Maradona, commented on recent controversies with UEFA
President, Michel Platini and his long-time nemesis, Pele'. Both
had questioned Maradona's management credentials although apparently, Platini was misquoted.
Maradona also provided intriguing insights on Luis Fabiano's controversial hand
ball against Cote d'Ivoire and some thoughts about his team during during a press conference
published by Buenos Aires newspaper, Clarin, ahead of Argentina's last group round match against
Greece.
The World Cup is NOT upside down. It is merely the classic European powers that aren't doing
well. The two South American powers are doing just fine.
Well, ok, Brazil's only played once so far, but will be playing Côte d'Ivoire on ABC at 11AM
Pacific on ABC.
Yes, the Group Stage isn't yet done, but if the current performances hold true we may need to
start wondering if too many UEFA teams are going to the tournament?
Cote d'Ivoire and Portugal made up the marquee match-up on Tuesday, but it was the efforts of
New Zealand (against Slovakia) and North Korea (against Brazil) that wrote the stories. In this
edition of the World Cup Buzz podcast, I'm joined by special guest The Gaffer to wrap-up Tuesday's
action from South Africa 2010.

Africa Cup of Nations 2012 Team of the Round, Matchday 1 is a post from: Just Football
We have seen 15 goals in 8 opening games of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, with some
fascinating fixtures and a few hints as to how the tournament might unfold. Only one game was
separated by more than one goal, co-hosts Gabon beating Niger 2-0, while there have been no heavy
defeats for any of the less-fancied teams, with the likes of Sudan and Botswana, and even Niger to
an extent, more than holding their own against continental powerhouses like Cote d'Ivoire and
Ghana.
As the group stage of the 2011 UEFA U-17 Championship wrapped up in Serbia, the top six teams have
clinched a place in the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico.
Eight European teams were competing in two groups of four in a round-robin format, and while the
top two teams in each group moved onto the continental semifinals, the top three teams advanced to
Mexico.
The four berths to the FIFA U-17 World Cup from South America have been decided - Brazil, Uruguay,
Argentina and Ecuador will travel north to Mexico this summer.
The six-team round robin tournament was held in Ecuador and the four teams were decided with one
round of games still to be played.
Zambia's sensational African Cup of Nations has just ended with emotional glory when they defeated
the huge favourites Côte d'Ivoire in an intense final in Libreville! Like everyone in the stadium
(except the Ivorians), I also got carried away by the glorious spirit, fight, and the memory of the
1994 team that died in Gabon.

Some good and some bad news for Salomon Kalou today at the Africa Cup of Nations.
We'll start with the good, the real good. Kalou opened the scoring for Côte d'Ivoire in their
2-0 win against Burkina Faso tonight. Peep Sal's excellent volley in visual form below.
The volley was the cherry on the top of what was another fine performance from the rarely used
Chelsea vet.

African Cup of Nations 2012: New Cote d'Ivoire Home Kit is a post from: Just Football
More from PUMA's African football 2012 kit launch now on Just Football, with a
look at the new Côte d'Ivoire home kit. Undoubtedly one of the favourites for the
African Cup of Nations 2012 in a few months time considering the absence of other big names such as
Nigeria, Cameroon and Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire will be hoping this will be the kit that sees the
Elephants finally cement their as yet unsecured position as one of Africa's best international
sides of the last decade.

The stage is set for next year's Africa Cup of Nations which will be co-hosted by Gabon and
Equatorial Guinea after the final round of fixtures played this weekend confirmed the 16 nations
that will grace the 28th edition of the continent's ultimate footballing tournament.
After having the long list leaked and the short list announced, the final list of nominees for
CAF's 2010 African Footballer of the Year have finally been announced.
And the nominations for Africa's 2010 Footballer of the Year go to...
Didier Drogba (Côte D'Ivoire/Chelsea)
Asamoah Gyan (Ghana/Sunderland)
Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon/Inter)
If you read my earlier post on the nominations, you probably aren't surprised by the names
appearing on the final list.
Ivory Coast international striker Gervinho has expressed his desire to continue his club career
in France despite attracting offers from top European sides including Liverpool.
Of course the Elephants of Cote D'Ivoire are known because of their most famous export Didier
Drogba. However, Double D is now 32 years old and closer to retirement.
EXCLUSIVE: Ivory Coast star Gervinho talks to Just Football is a post from: Just Football
Gervais Yao Kouassi. Amidst the Drogbas and Kalous and Toures of the Côte d'Ivoire setup, the
pacy, skilful 23-year-old better known as Gervinho is the forward no-one seems to
talk about.

Brazil expect to have midfielder Elano back for their final FIFA World Cup™ Group G match

Sudan went into this tournament having failed to score an ACN goal since 1976. Bet you didn't
know that at kick-off against Angola last Thursday. Bet you were sick of hearing it by
full-time.
Sudan broke this goalscoring duck (36 years, you know) moments after Eurosport's Matt Jackson
declared he didn't know where their next goal is coming from.

Dijon, who will compete in France's top flight for the first time in the club's history this
season, announced the signing of Freddy Drogba on Wednesday. Freddy is, of course, the younger
brother of The Mighty One.
