La Liga outfit Sevilla are reportedly willing to negotiate with Liverpool over the transfer of Ivan Rakitic, it has emerged. The Spanish side had a poor season this year, finishing 9th in La Liga, and are expecting to face the departures of some key players, having already sold winger Jesus Navas to Manchester City for £14.
Liverpool is ready to make a move for Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic after he hinted that he wants to leave the club. The 25 year old arrived at Sevilla in 2011 from Schalke but having finished ninth in La Liga he has admitted that he is unsure on the direction of the club and the Daily Star say he could be on his way to Anfield.
Liverpool look set to miss out on reported target Federico Fazio following the news that Sevilla have agreed in principle to sell the defender to St Zenit Petersburg. Spanish newspaper AS reports that the Spanish club has accepted an offer in the excess of €6 million from the Russian champion.

With their 1-0 loss to Sevilla on Saturday, Real Madrid now have just four points from their first four league matches of the season and the frustration has set in. After Sevilla scored just 69 seconds into the match, that frustration showed as Real struggled not only to finish their chances, but to keep level heads as Sevilla knocked them around.
Just Football: La Liga 2010-11 Team of the Season (minus Real Madrid and Barcelona) is a post

So, now that the 2010/11 La Liga season is over, it's time to look back and pick out some of the
standout performers of the last nine months. However, in a cunning twist, I have decided that it
would be far more interesting if we just ignored everyone that plays for Barcelona and Real
Madrid.
La Liga Lowdown, Jornada 28: Hope at the top as Barcelona slip up at Sevilla is a post from:

It's time for Real Madrid fans to get slightly excited again, after Sevilla put
in a great performance to hold Barcelona to a 1-1 draw at the Sánchez Pizjuán
this weekend.
Vicente del Bosque has congratulated his players for progressing to the quarter-finals of UEFA
EURO 2012 despite widespread criticism of their performance in the 1-0 win over Croatia on
Monday.
This was not a vintage Spanish performance in any sense of the world. Croatia were on the front
foot for long spells of the game and if it was not for a great save by Iker Casillas from Ivan
Rakitic's header Spain could be on the way home today.
Jesus Navas scored a late winner for Spain as they left it late to seal a 1-0 win against
Croatia in Gdansk.
The Sevilla man made sure that Spain topped Group C as he scored just two minutes from time,
smashing home from almost on the line after Andres Iniesta had sprung the offside trap.
Croatia had frustrated the reigning champions and could have taken the lead but for a fine save
from keeper Iker Casillas who blocked a close-range header from Ivan Rakitic.
We've nearly reached the end of the Group Stage. Two matches to go in Group D today:
Sweden-France and England-Ukraine, which will determine the final two quarterfinalists. Already in
the final eight: Czech Republic, Greece, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and Italy.
The latter two claimed first and second in Group C with tense victories yesterday.
Is Spain Becoming A Parody Of Itself? - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Spain are through to the Euro 2012 quarter-finals after a tense victory over a hard-working,
skilful Croatia side on Monday night. Spain spent most of the match though knowing a goal on the
break from Croatia could knock them out the tournament and defensively they looked ropey throughout
the evening.
The 88th minute Jesus Navas goal was legitimate. The key is Iniesta receiving Cesc Fabregas's
perfectly measured chip in an onside position, chesting it and side-footing it to Navas who was
free to move because he was not the primary target.

Has there ever been a tournament as enthralling as this one, with incident and excitement on a
daily basis and the script constantly changing as the action moves from one game to the next?
Spurs star Luka Modric was linked with a move to Barcelona in yesterday's papers. While it's
difficult to imagine a club less in need of a playmaker, he certainly pulled out all the stops
against many of his would-be team-mates last night. Everton manager David Moyes, working as a
pundit for the BBC, noted that [.
They suffered a few scares and needed a few clutch saves from Iker Casillas, but Spain
eventually defeated Croatia en route to advancing to the Euro 2012 quarterfinals.
Spain kept their dreams of repeating as European champions alive on Monday with a 1-0 victory
over Croatia that was more difficult than some would have imagined.
1. Spain delivered the ultimate 'up yours' to us all. After 87 minutes of sniping about their lack
of penetration and subsequent lack of a striker, they literally walked it into the net. 2. The
reigning champions did look precarious at one point. Fortunately, they had Jesus (Navas) to be
their saviour.
Creo que hay muchos equipos que podrÃan brillar en la Euro 2012. En mi opinión, podrÃa ser

realmente tienen buenos equipos.

Group B is just too glamorous to be analyzed this early in the process and so in today's edition
of "Doing the Poznan" we will be invoking the Carlton Palmer in me and analyzing Group C.
All but four countries have booked their ticket to next summer's finals in Poland and Ukraine,
but the quality among the eight undecided sides have created some intriguing ties, with the
prospect of going on a run a la Greece always ever-present.
The play-off's two legs will be played on the 11th and 15th of the coming month, with the
following countries paired against each other in the final decisive battles of the qualifying
phase.
Italy Starters: Buffon; Bonucci, De Rossi, Chiellini; Maggio, Marchisio, Pirlo, T Motta,
G'herini; Cassano, Balotelli
Croatia (4-4-2): Stipe Pletikosa; Ivan Strinic, Gordon Schildenfeld, Vedran Corluka, Darijo
Srna; Ivan Perisic, Luka Modric, Ognjen Vukojevic, Ivan Rakitic; Jelavic, Mario Mandzukic.
Insurance commercials aren't generally our first port of call when we're looking for something
to lech over.
The Croatian NT and Generali Insurance sought to rectify this terrible injustice for us
recently, by shoving the likes of Vedran Corluka and Ivan Rakitic in front of a camera and forcing
them to look puurty for an upcoming campaign.
Bolton are in debt. £90m in debt to be exact. We know this. Despite this, the club are
determined to not lose Gary Cahill, Johan Elmander, or Ali Al-Habsi this upcoming transfer window
and are instead looking to buy. The mighty Whites have been linked with a number of different names
to purchase in January.

Schalke Impressed Last Season With A Second-Place Finish In The Bundesliga.
Felix Magath made a stunning start to his Schalke career after baffling critics and defied
expectations after leading Die Konigsblauen to a second-placed Bundesliga finish last season. The
season prior to last, Magath was with VfL Wolfsburg and managed to win the Bundesliga that
year.
Three rounds remain in the Bundesliga season and the race for the championship is locked between
Bayern Munich and Schalke 04. The Bavarian giants picked up an easy win over Hannover 96 after
crushing the visitors 7-0. Hannover 96 finds itself in the drop zone, but just one point from
safety.
With four rounds remaining and 12 points up for grabs, the Bundesliga heads into its final portion
of the season with a heated race for the championship. Bayern Munich picked up a point on the road
against Bayer Leverkusen and took advantage of Schalke's humilliating defeat against Hannover 96.
BAYER LEVERKUSEN IS NO LONGER THE LAST UNDEFEATED TEAM STANDING IN EUROPE. STEFAN KIESLING SCORED
TO REMAIN ATOP OF THE GOLDEN BOOT RACE IN GERMANY, BUT IT WASN'T ENOUGH AS BAYER LEVERKUSEN DROPPED
ITS FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON IN THE BUNDESLIGA AFTER LOSING 3-2 TO NURNBERG.
To be honest, it could have been double figures. That's how many chances Bayern Munich had against
Hannover 96 on Saturday. The visitors came to the Allianz looking to limit the damage and their
plan backfired horribly, for them. By the end of the game Bayern were playing liquid football,
using flicks and tricks, not to deliberately embarrass or humiliate their opponents but to stamp
their authority on the Bundesliga.
After Schalke's defeat against Bayern Munich last week, the perfect restorative would have been a
trip to lowly Hannover 96. Indeed, as I pointed out in the Bundesbag Preview, if Felix Magath's
team did could not beat the 96ers then they did not deserve to win the Bundesliga. Well, guess
what? They lost.
Bayern Munich grabbed the top spot of the bundesliga in germany after its 1-0 victory over Hamburg
at the Allianz. Bayer Leverkusen continues its undefeated streak, but was held to a scoreless draw
against FC Cologne. Hertha Berlin's remains at the bottom of the standings after a -0 defeat at
home to Hoffenheim.
The more I read tabloid transfer news, the more I continue to see Tottenham as the
epicentre of transfer speculation like Harry is some kind of buccaneering dell Boy...
Harry does like to dip into each transfer window, but I think his 'wheeler dealer' persona is a
bit of a false carry-on.
