Liverpool's win over Man Utd got all the Premier League attention this weekend, so Ivan Klasnić
giving us yet more proof of his indestructibility went a little more under the radar than perhaps
it deserved to. You probably remember Klasnić as the Croatian striker who suffered kidney failure

Well it must be said my mindset on this match was not as optimistic as my match preview might
have suggested. I spent all of yesterday talking it down to myself, saying it was only the Carling
Cup, and besides if we got knocked out that would only let us focus more on the league and the FA
Cup. But honestly I don't think I've been more pleased with Bolton in a really long time, perhaps
even since our stunning comeback at Stamford Bridge in April, even though it was just a Carling Cup
tie.

Sometimes this thing writes itself, honestly.
I think Sean Ingle or whoever it is that controls what appears on the Guardian Football mainpage
should have been a collage artist: the juxtaposition of headlines often has an almost Drudge-like
ability to wink and nudge at the party-faithful, in this case, those with a taste for the game's
inherent absurdity.

One of my favorite Wanderers has traveled to the England training base. Today it was announced that
Gary Cahill will be in Fabio Capello's squad for the third and fourth time respectively. England
face Slovenia in a friendly match at Wembley on Saturday, then on Wednesday take on Croatia in a
World Cup Qualifier also at Wembley, which would assure their place in the tournament if they took
away all three points.

Unfortunately due to imaging rights I can not post a picture of our new signing Ivan Klasnić. A

the Killer (which can't be a bad thing).

There are mixed reports about whether Bolton Wanderers are about to sign Croatian international

Following the departure of Alexander Frei to Basel, Dortmund are preparing to swoop for his
replacement.
Names on the list include Nantes' Ivan Klasnic, Robert Lewandoski of Lech Poznan, and interestingly
Andriy Voronin of Liverpool.
While Klasnic is reported by Bild to be their number one target, the Croatian only moved to France
last season, signing a four-year deal, thus that idea could prove to be too expensive for Dortmund
to implement.

One Croatian newspaper has decided that citizens are so depressed by the team's dramatic
quarterfinal exit, they need counseling.
After ninety goalless minutes of the quarterfinal against Turkey and with extra time coming to

Congratulations must got to Turkey for putting out the team most likely to do a "Greece" this year

but I cannot hide my disappointment that Croatia are now out of the tournament.
Friday night's quarter-final between the two surprise packages was a horrible game for 119 minutes

Senturk volleyed the equaliser with the last kick of the game.
