Video: The last time Atletico won at the Bernabeu

Soccerblog 07 November @ 07:35 AM EST

Atletico have not won at the Bernabeu in 10 years. The last time October 30th, 1999 when Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with his brace and Jose Mari won a now historic victory. Sergio Aguero was 11 years old.

Hasselbaink was virtually unstoppable and so was Joan Capdevila, now at Villareal.

Burnden Aces at The Reebok

BWFC 24 05 August @ 09:46 AM EST

This coming Saturday is set to be best pre-season friendly (and fun day) ever, in my opinion. Not only do Bolton Wanderers take on Scottish Premier League side Hibernian Football Club at The Reebok Stadium but there is a 'Legends Match' too.

Bolton Wanderers verses Hibernian is being billed as Jussi Jaaskelainen's testimonial.

The Freebie XI: You Can Have All of this for Nothing!

Caught Offside 05 August @ 05:55 AM EST

Time for you all to feel sorry for footballers without a home for the new season!

Footballers rarely deserve sympathy in today's cash-drenched game.
Fans are fed up with hearing of players being paid six figures for a week's work, especially when that involves pulling on their boots for a few hours each day.

Chants of the Season 08/09

FOOTBALLSUP 04 June @ 04:57 AM EST

We've read through the massive list collated by the BBC - and though some are rubbish (see Dean Keates), some are verging on genius (see Temuri Ketsbaia). And some are so rubbish they're genius (see Julian Speroni)... Here it is in full:

Robinho on the bus goes round and round."
Man City fans celebrate Robinho's shopping trip on the bus.

Bolton Manager Gary Megson

In October 1999 Sam Allardyce breezed into his office at the Reebok Stadium to take over a club at the foot of the first division table. Amazingly, he guided Bolton Wanderers to the play-off semi finals the same season as well reaching both domestic cup finals.

Keane keeps his shadow

Soccerblog 27 April @ 12:17 AM EST

Roy Keane begins his Ipswich career with a bang. The Tractor Boys pulverized Cardiff, 3-0. It was the last league match at 99 year old Ninian Park before they move to the new Cardiff City Stadium in the summer.

Keane's team is an interesting mix of veterans like Ivan Campo and newbies like Connor Wickham who on 11 April 2009 became Ipswich Town's youngest player to debut.

Premiership Preview--17. Bolton Wanderers

English Soccer Talk 02 August @ 12:25 PM EST
For everyone outside of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal, success in the Premiership can be fickle. We saw it last year with Tottenham, who wound up an extremely disappointing 11th after two straight 5th-place finishes. We saw it last year with Reading, a club that was relegated a season after finishing comfortably in 8th place. Click to continue reading...

Who is Fabrice Muamba?

The Offside - Bolton Wanderers 21 July @ 06:40 PM EST

Fabrice Muamba
He's young. Only 20 years old and he's earned 7 caps for the England U21 squad in the last year. Fabrice Muamba is our new defensive midfielder and he can fill in right where Ivan Campo left off. Campo spent 6 seasons at the Reebok and he was a welcome sight for just about every Trotters supporter over the years, but he got older and he got slower.

It's not an uncommon sight at all for the Bolton Faithful to be waiting and wondering what's going to happen next during the summer transfer window. With the transfer funds seemingly in a perpetual void and the better players being linked with moves to teams that have the cash to splash, most Trotters' fans typically spend their summers wondering who we'll lose next, or what virtually unknown player will be suiting up in the White Hot colours next year. Player unrest at the Reebok - are Bolton a sinking ship?

Caught Offside 28 March @ 07:28 AM EST
There are many reasons why Bolton will be relegated this season. Firstly, they reside in the bottom three of the division so they'll have to better the results of Birmingham and Sunderland to stay in the division. Secondly, they seem woefully short of goals since Nicolas Anelka departed for Chelsea during January and finally, because [. Click to continue reading...
