With the transfer window about to open plenty of gossip will be doing the rounds. As ever I will
only post news that appears in other media.
The biggest news is of course Noh Alam Shah becoming a free agent after leaving Arema IPL. Tampines
Rovers have said they will take him back in the blink of an eye; it's no secret NAS and the
chairman of the Stags are very close.
I think it's so ironic how a team that is famous for giving nothing away at home gets upset when
decisions don't go their way in away games. When a nailed on pen isn't given to their opponents.
Yet when the same happens to them in an away game they spit the dummy. The word shame doesn't seem
to exist.
The old adage is that everything has been done before, there ain't nothing new under the sun. I
always believed that myself. That was until i started covering Indonesian football; now I expect
the new or outrageous and I must admit I am disappointed when something normal happens.
You will be aware, no doubt, that Indonesia has two leagues up and running for the second
consecutive season.

FIFA has been ordered to release documents pertaining to its involvement with former marketing
partner ISL by the Swiss supreme court.
The documents contain information about several FIFA members who took millions of dollars in
kickbacks from ISL during the negotiation of television broadcast deals for the World Cup, with
former FIFA president Joao Havelange and 2014 World Cup organizer Ricardo Teixeira at the forefront
of the scandal.

Ives Galarcep reports at Fox Soccer that Freddy Adu is heading to with Spanish side Rayo
Vallecano for a two-week training stint. The report notes, "Rayo Vallecano is also a club that had
been in talks with Adu about signing him last summer before Adu settled on a return to MLS.

Persiwa go top of the nascent ISL after two wins in their opening two games.
Indonesia Super League clubs are facing problems over International Transfer Clearances. Deltras
new signing Sean Rooney was told he couldn't play against Persija just minutes ahead of the kick
off the other day while Persija had a similar problem with Pedro Javier.
The ISL of course is this year's rebel league so in theory they don't even need ITCs because they
are not recognised by the local FA, the AFC or FIFA.
After years of concentrating on young players, a policy that led them
to the Copa Indonesia semi finals in 2007 but no silverware, shades of Arsenal, Pelita Jaya ditched
that policy when they surprised everyone by signing Malaysian striker Safee Sali who had topped
scored at last year's ASEAN Cup, hosted by Indonesia.
The AFC told the Indonesian Football Association the new season had to begin by a certain date or
they would lose the right to enter teams in continental football next season. So, amid much
ballyhoo, the Indonesia Premier League kicked off on 15 October when Persib hosted Semen
Padang.
A few more games were scheduled but never took place and the competition, fully one game old, went
into hibernation for the SEA Games, a period of six weeks.
The LPI that was once going to feature 24 teams is losing clubs on a regular basis. The latest to
jump ship to the ISL are Persib. They were scheduled to play Mitra Kukar in the LPI on 26 November
but first Mitra Kukar left, and the game was called off. Now Persib have followed suit and their
first game in the ISL will be one week later against Persiram.
I think anybody who follows this blog on a regular basis will be current on what has happened in
Indonesian football this year and certainly I have no intention of rehashing the year so
far...again.
We've had the Liga Primer Indonesia start, go into a mid season break then end with a whimper,
their slogan of Change The Game quietly shunted to one side when it was realised the only change
was in the people running the game.
JAKARTA (2 Oct 2011) – Six women referees have been identified to handle
matches in the new season of the Indonesia Super League (ISL) 2011/2012 and also the lower Premier
Division.
The six referees – Samkarya (Sulawesi Tenggara), Minin (Bekasi), Yiyin (Sumedang), N Cori
(Sumatera), Herlin (Padang) and Cici (Semarang) – are now undergoing final test at the Hegarmanah
TNI AD Perwira Candidacy School in Bandung.
The Liga Primer Indonesia was supposed to Change The Game. Their words, not mine. They were never
going to do that, my words, not theirs.
Now we have a new PSSI leadership and the brief interregnum of the LPI is becoming that of a poorly
remembered dream. Something happened but we can't quite remember what it was.

I've long been intrigued be this geezer. Why? Because in a country where loyalty in football is as
rare as an exciting sinetron this man has been coach of Bontang since 2008. It's not as if he has
won anything 'cos he hasn't. Indeed the team would have finished 18th last season had all teams
that started in the ISL ended in it.

Vietnam Football is reporting that former Persiba striker Fortune Udo is presently trying his luck
with V League side Binh Duong. Fortune hit 34 goals last season helping Persiba Bantul earn
promotion to the ISL.
This story however suggests Fortune is happy to stay with Persiba!
Sriwijaya's best days were when their striker, Keith Kayamba, was paired alongside a prolific
strike partner, be it Christian Lenglolo or Claude Ngon Djan.
Without a reliable goal getter too much rested on the veteran and the team struggled to find any
consistency despite boasting a fine, experienced squad.

It came as no real surprise to see Bontang relegated from the Indonesia Super League. They had been
bottom so long it had become the norm. The 3-2 defeat against Persidafon in a feisty play off
marred by nine yellow cards just confirmed the inevitable.
You can be sure though that many players will be happy to see the back of the team from East
Kalimantan.
The Indonesia Super League ends today with a whimper, Persipura had long won the league, three
teams left before halfway and unexplained breaks in the fixture list don't add up to a successful
league, you can't help but wonder what comes next. But then we always wonder what comes next in the
la la land of Indonesian football.
After defeating Persidafon 2-1 in he play offs, Mitra Kukar are promoted to the Indonesia Super
League for 2011/2012 or whatever bloody format gets adopted next season. Bad tempered affair second
half with players from both teams behaving like PSSI officials.
Also promoted are Persiba Bantul and Persiraja who meet later tonight to decide the Champions.
PSAP missed out on the chance of Indonesia Super League football, losing 1-0 to hosts Mitra Kukar
in the play offs last night.
The team from Aceh province had gone into the game worrying about match officials showing home side
bias, something they know a lot about as this story testifies.
Franco Hita scored the only goal of them securing Mitra Kukar's path to the semi finals on 50
minutes in what looks like a bad tempered game with PSAP collecting seven yellow cards and one red.
Another crucial few days in Indonesian football with the FA having a meeting later this week, with
AFC and FIFA sending representatives, in Jakarta to elect a new leadership. The last meeting, in
Palembang, ended up a disaster and saw Nurdin Halid removed from his position as chairman.
The normalisation committee, charged by FIFA to try and organise new elections, have appealed
FIFA's decision to bar businessman Arifin Panigoro and military man George Toisutta and if
successfull they could stand.
Ive just fallen off my chair!
Check out this informative media pack ahead of the ISL Under 21 play offs that kick off. No mention
of who's playing who but still pretty bloody good!
Liga Primer Indonesia have struggled to make any kind of impact in the debut season but they're
hoping to change that with a couple of big name signings in the transfer window next month.
On the radar are Semen Padang striker Edward Wilson Junior and Persijap's Brazilian Alberto
Goncalves. Both have proved themselves to be consistent scorers in the Indonesia Super League with
Wilson the second top scorer in the current season.
It could be the defining game of the 2010/2011 Indonesia Super League season.
Persipura have led the ISL since putting Pelita Jaya to the sword way back in September. They
have been ruthless and relentless, steamrollering lesser teams and happy to snatch a point when
against stronger opposition.
Persija are one of the biggest teams in the country without a doubt. They have some of the biggest
names in Indonesian football. Their Jakmania supporters club is one of the most active in the
country. Their orange shirts are one of the most identifiable in the country. They are, in short, a
footballing brand worth a shit load of money.

Not many teams lose at home in the Indonesia Super League. Just five teams have seen clubs leave
with all three points. Persisam, PSPS and Persiba have each lost one home game while Pelita Jaya
have lost four and Bontang have lost five.
Arema have the only 100% home record remaining in the truncated league after six games while five
teams have won all but one of their home games.

Despite their midweek exertions in Japan ISL champions Arema made the long journey to Jayapura and
took the lead.
Two Indonesian-based Singapore players - Baihakki Khaizan and Shahril Ishak (pictured below) had
joined IPL (Indonesia Premier League) club Medan Chiefs following their release from ISL (Indonesia
Super League) club Persib Bandung.
The fate of the both Singaporeans were in much speculation with a tweet message posted by Baihakki
on 6th February had made it crystal clear for him, at least, that time is up for him in West Java.
Newly promoted Semen Padang are top of the Indonesia Super League after their 1-0 victory over
Pelita Jaya. They sit one point clear of 2nd placed Persipura but the Black Pearls have two games
in hand.
Are Semen Padang really the best team in Indonesia at the current moment? Well, their season so far
is as follows.
With three teams withdrawing from the Indonesia Super League, PSM, Persema and Persibo, the ISL
takes on a whole new look with with perhaps Persib the biggest beneficiary.
Before the break for the AFF Cup they were rooted to the bottom of the table one point behind 17th
placed Bontang. Not now. They have climbed to 12th and are three points clear of Bontang who now
find themselves bottom!
