At the age of 33, Cristian Chivu announced earlier this week that he is retiring from the game. The Romanian international, who earned 63 caps for his country, played in Euro 2000 and Euro 2008, but he is perhaps best remembered for his glittering club career.
Is Mourinho scared of Benitez's Chelsea? - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

It was May of 2010. Jose Mourinho stood cradled by the walls of the mighty Santiago Bernabeu after his side Inter Milan hadstormed to victoryin the UEFA Champions League against an outfought and outplayed Bayern Munich side.

What to Expect
Inter Milan may not be at their mightiest at the moment, but with new manager Walter Mazzarri at the helm, Inter hope to correct last season's 9th place finish.
Douglas Maicon scored a sensational goal to secure a 4-2 victory for Internazionale over AC Milan
in a thrilling Derby della Madonnina; in a game which also halted Milan's attempt to retain their
league crown. The Nerazzurri were forced to come from behind, after former player, Zlatan
Ibrahimovic converted a penalty and scored a splendid second to grant AC Milan a 2-1 lead.

Liverpool is contemplating replacing their current manager Brendan Rodgers and Marcello Lippi is rumored to be one of the top candidates, as reported by the Daily Mirror. Although the Reds would prefer Roy Hodgson, he might be unavailable should he continue to take charge of the national team.
Sorry for the lack of posts over the past couple of days. Quite a bit going on in my world at
that moment. Now, with the pleasantries out of the way, let's take a look at what's been going on
since our much-needed win at Wolves. Turns out, this has been a relatively newsworthy day for the
CO approved transfer target

We don't like to talk about transfer rumours. We especially don't like to talk about transfer
rumours between windows. Mostly because none of the information floating around is true, accurate,
or otherwise factual. And mostly because it's all crap that's been rehashed using stuff that was
floating around six months ago that even back then wasn't true, accurate, or otherwise factual.
Antonio Cassano scored his debut goal for Inter but it was not enough to keep Zdenek Zeman's
Roma team plundering three in return. Check out Marquinho's goal from the tightest of angles. A
sliver of daylight and that is all that was needed.
Michael Bradley is out with a quadriceps injury and will not feature in the US national side's
upcoming World Cup qualifier against Jamaica.
The 31 year old right back will be reunited with Roberto Mancini on a transfer move valued at
£3m. City have already signed striker Scott Sinclair for about £8m, Richard Wright joins on a
year long move from Preston as back up goalie to Joe Hart and Costel Pantimilion.
The Blues are expected to prise out holding midfielder Javi Garcia from Benfica for
Giampaolo Pazzini and Antonio Cassano are all set to trade clubs. Pazzini will be moving to
Milan as he no longer fits in with Andrea Stramaccioni's plans while Cassano is moving to Inter
because he's Cassano and a rolling stone.
Both clubs are strapped for cash but Milan is worse off but are willing to pay €7.
This was less clear cut than Andy Carroll's goal claims which were denied a day earlier in the
FA Cup final. It's hard to say if Christian Abbiati was able to parry the ball out before it
completely crossed the goal line. In the end it did not really matter as Inter were able to win the
match by some distance and the title came to Juventus a week earlier than planned.
This match had everything. Nine goals. Two red cards. Three penalties. Pepe Reina wasn't the
only goalie sent off as Julio Cesar suffered the same fate bringing down Rodrigo Palacio. And
Andrea Stramaccioni's debut win which rested on a very fine margin till the very last minute.
Mario Balotelli took some precious time off from Man City's precariously poised Premiership
campaign to fly down to Milan and disrupt Andrea Stramaccioni's press conference. Stramaccioni
replaced Claudio Ranieri as Inter's coach following their disastrous slide down the Serie.
The Old Lady was helped immensely by their grey beards. Gigi Buffon brought off spectacular save
after another, Andrea Pirlo created most of the movement from deep within midfield, and Alessandro
Del Piero scored Juve's second goal to help keep the Derby D'Italia in their hands.
It was an enthralling match and Inter managed to give Juve some very anxious moments in the
first half through Diego Milito and Diego Forlan.
Claudio Ranieri's grip on the Inter job became even more tenuous as Inter exited from the
Champions League undone by a added time Brandao goal. They looked to have booked their passage
through Diego Milito's second half goal. But Inter's vaunted defense have never looked worse or as
sluggish when they let the Brazilian score the vital away goal and the equalizer.
Novara, at the very bottom of the Serie won yet again in a clean sweep of Inter with Andre
Caracciolo scoring a flamboyant winner. Massimo Moratti dismissed Gian Piero Gasperini after
Inter's 1-3 flame out against Novara in their first encounter.
Carlos Tevez's potential transfer to PSG has been compromised with the two parties not seeing
eye to eye on the way forward in his footballing career rather than any financial reasons. Tevez's
demands as per his agent, Kia Joorabchian, included:
1) Limiting Carlo Ancelotti on the number of training sessions he has per day and making
conditional his participation in them.
AC Milan were the better attacking team and should have been deserving winners but the crossbar
came to Inter's rescue. Soccer is cruel. Javier Zanetti proving at the age of 38 years he has a
full tank of gas busts down the right and then diagonals all the way towards the direction of Diego
According to the Nike Store, Inter Milan's new away kit "honors" the team with "bold team colors
and symbols." Fans of the Serie A champions, however, are inclined to disagree, as they can't help
but notice that it's almost exactly the same hue worn by fierce rivals AC Milan.
The Curva Nord  — the collective of Internazionale's die-hard fans and ultras — are so
displeased with the new strip that a representative has written to club owner and president Massimo
Moratti to explain their intention to boycott it.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has dismissed suggestions that losing pole position in
the Premier League title race will prevent his side from regaining an edge over current leaders
Manchester United, who leapfrogged the Citizens following yesterday's complete swing of
City, who headed into Sunday with a two-point lead at the summit, lost 1-0 at Swansea City while
two Wayne Rooney goals powered defending champions United to a 2-0 win over West Bromwich
Rumours of Jose Mourinho wanting to leave Real Madrid for the Premiership would mean only one
thing: he is heading for Manchester. Since his famous Champions League win with Porto in 2004,
Mourinho has had no desire to manage any side lacking truly world-class pedigree. For this very
reason, a return to a depleted Chelsea side is not on the cards.
Belgian wing-wizard Eden Hazard has been linked with pretty much every big club in Europe over
the last year, and now his club, Lille, have decided that the attacker is up for sale, albeit at a
rather high price.
£43million will get you the services of the fleet-footed 20-year-old, a figure which will
probably put Arsenal, who have been consistently linked with the player, out of the running.

The CSKA Moscow talent has won a major battle to get fit for inclusion in the squad. Born in

Tottenham's reward for their stoppage-time win over Lyon in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 is a two-legged tie with Internazionale, which begins this week at White Hart Lane.
Andre Villas-Boas' side are in good form of late and football betting news pundits believe that they can make the top four this season, earn safe passage to the Champions League group stage and do battle with the best teams Europe has to offer.
A quick glimpse of Galatasaray SK reveals a few things. First, Galatasaray currently sit atop the Turkish Super League, three points ahead of rivals BeÅŸiktaÅŸ JK, after already having won last year's title. Secondly, they are into the last 16 of the Champions League and face a compelling tie with Schalke 04.
Through Ryu's Lens - Internazionale vs. Marseille, tragedy in Milano
Bayern Munich and Inter Milan both started their matches Tuesday evening with a one goal deficit
to overcome. While the Germans took care of the business with a phenomenal 7-nil win over FC Basel
in Munich, Inter Milan played well but were ultimately knocked out due to lazy defending and
Marseille's Brandão taking advantage of an opportunity in the match's final minutes.
