More players injured on international duty

This weekend saw another round of international games, some important like the playoffs for the final positions at the World Cup, but all too many were unimportant games that counted for absolutely nothing t should the top players be excluded form playing in them to avoid injury?

I know that this brings up loads of potential problem like who do you classify as a top player etc.

Stupid internationals, stupid media

Coming in late last night, a little tipsy, I noticed a friend had emailed me a link to a Youtube clip of Van Persie going off injured after a tackle by Giorgio Chiellini.
If you watch the video, Chiellini does little wrong. Robin bursts into the box and he comes across to cut it out - whilst my original reaction (below) was to blame him, I don't think this is fair. Click to continue reading...

Benfica's Luisao has emergency operation

Benfica's central defender Luisao had an emergency operation on Tuesday in Portugal due to acute appendicitus. Luisao will remain in hospital until at least the end of the week and will miss the upcoming international friendlies for Brazil over the next week. US To Play Slovakia In November?

The US national team is already headed to Denmark in November and could possibly play another World Cup qualified side a few days later. While the US hasn't announced it's second friendly for November, reports out of Europe suggest that the Americans will take on Slovakia on Nov. 14.

Slovakia qualified for the World Cup after topping a qualifying group that included Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Poland.
