Kasey Keller Apparently Auditioned At ESPN
Hardly the focus of this Q&A with ESPN's soccer editor James Martin (who knew they had one?!?!),
he mentions that Kasey Keller was auditioning for a broadcast job with the sports leader.
Otherwise, there's some interesting stuff in there about how Keller sees the soccer world.
Psst, you might have noticed we've scaled Pitch Invasion down to periodic lengthy essays and
photo features. We're happier this way, without feeling we need to post every day and with more
focus on crafting quality posts (hopefully!).
But we still find interesting stuff elsewhere every day.
When I read the report that there was going to be 10,000+ fans at the Portland Timbers reserve
match this past Sunday I thought it was pretty cool. Little did I know that it was actually
really cool. At least according to the dozens of news articles from seemingly every soccer
site and newspaper in the USA.
Going global: Birthplaces of Premier League players (excluding UK).
Another summer is on its way out with Arsenal barely making a splash in the transfer market.
Once again it looks like Arsenal will be relying on youth this season. It got me thinking are
Arsenal really good at producing players from their youth academy who are capable of playing in the
Premier League?
Here are tables for the prices of football across England's four leagues and the Scottish Premier
League, courtesy of the BBC. I have yet to see if there's a correlation between price and success,
but it's interesting stuff nonetheless.
Mike Cardillo of the Stamford Advocate has seen soccer grow significantly in our country. Now, he
wants to see the media's coverage of the game grow, too.
Sunday evening, waiting to take the field before a rec softball game, all the chatter among my
teammates was about the Women's World Cup final between the United States and Japan, which was in
the second period of extra time.
Hello, a ton of interesting stuff this morning.
We'll start with the positive and at long last the club confirmed the signing of Ivory Coast
forward Gervinho. Well, mostly. At the press conference yesterday Wenger admitted the deal had been
done and Gervinho was an Arsenal player. The club released a statement saying:
Arsenal Football Club announces that Ivory Coast international forward Gervinho will shortly
join the Gunners, subject to a regulatory process.
Hair band to be back in style at Arsenal?
This is the one story which won't go away and has been reported to be done but nothing is
confirmed yet. Gervinho is apparently the player Arsene Wenger wants to bolster his attacking
options. He is a wide attacker cum striker who is currently contracted to Lille, the Ligue 1
champions.
Morning all,
some interesting quotes from Arsene have emerged from a radio interview he did in France.
They've been carried via the Twitter account of the President of the Arsenal supporters club
France. And if yesterday's performance by Mr Blatter has taught us anything it's that
Presidents are men of honour and quiet dignity who are to be trusted implicitly.
I got my hands on the USSF's Coaching Curriculum for youth soccer today... and I found some
interesting stuff in it:1) Apparently, we overplay the 4-4-2 formation2) We dribble too much3) We
don't attack out of the backfield enough4) Our passing sucksWell, no real surprises there, but what
they are suggesting is that we should run the 4-3-3 (or 4-2-3-1) exclusively until the U15 bracket
at which

Hey guys it's another podcast! That makes two in one week! Luckily, this one is slightly less
depressing than the last.
Today we'll be talking about the Sounders "win" over the Colorado Rapids, how the team will
compensate for the losses of Steve Zakuani and O'Brian White and the Sounders upcoming contest
against Toronto FC.
It's one of funnest and most satisfying sports within the sport of football: complaining about
the tedious, predictable, if not nauseating commentary foisted on us by the networks. With barely
disguised pleasure, we chat or tweet our criticisms of the uninvited guests who join our football
watching party.
West Ham are two up against United.
Question, then: are the best teams in the Premier League not as good as they used to be?
Or are the lesser teams better? Or both? And what does that tell us about Fulham?
I suspect it's a bit of everything. There are certain indicators: Chelsea are older than
when they were great.
We've made it to Thursday of the International Week, thank God. It's like the Bermuda Triangle when
real football simply disappears. And we've already got some injuries and the matches have yet to be
played.
El-Hadji Diouf does not ride his bike to work...
Gareth Bale has a hamstring problem and won't feature against England on Saturday.
My good old friends at Arsenal Brasil have done it again. Last time it was an interview with
former Gunner Edu, this time around it's one of the first team squad, Denilson. They've given
Arseblog an exclusive English translation.
He talks about life at Arsenal, his teammates, gives his thoughts on the issue of leadership, as
well as his future plans .
One thing I forgot to include in the previous post with Sporting Kansas City's Head Coach Peter
Vermes. My apologies to everyone, I was a little rushed and a lot not feeling well so I missed one
of my notes.During our conversation, one of the topics we talked about was the fact that there were
no signings yet this year and it was the same last year at this time.
