Three simple questions: Colorado Rapids

No Short Corners 16 November @ 08:43 AM EST
We move along in our series with the Rapids, who wildly disappointed fans by slumping down the stretch to miss out on the playoffs thanks to a closing day loss to arch rivals Real Salt Lake - who have added insult to injury by making it to MLS Cup. Yeesh. For this autopsy/look ahead, we turn to Class VI Grand Poobah Mark Bodmer. Click to continue reading...

Republik Of Mancunia 05 November @ 03:19 AM EST

Things aren't looking good in Merseyside at the moment, with Liverpool picking up yet another disappointing result in Europe last night, which puts them five points behind the team above them and six points off the top of the group, with just two matches to play.

In the league, they are currently 6th with just three points distancing them from 10th placed Burnley.

EPL Week 10: A Look Back

Soccer By Ives 02 November @ 10:45 AM EST

by TRAVIS CLARK

It's been 10 years since Arsenal fell against Tottenham in the Premier League, and Saturday at the Emirates was no different. In what was a bit of revenge for last year's 4-4 enthralling draw at the Grove, Arsenal saw off Spurs 3-0, a scoreline that flattered the home side, while at the same time could of been much worse.

Rio: The Liverpool Double Hurt

Man United Devils 23 October @ 04:26 AM EST
After last season's 4-1 and 2-1 defeats to the hands of Liverpool at Old Trafford, Man United defender Rio Ferdinand is ready for revenge. Liverpool did the double over United last season but we still managed to go on and win the Premier League title. We may have won the title but the defeats still linger in the memories of the United players and fans minds. Click to continue reading...

Sir Alex gets charged with improper conduct

Soccerblog 19 October @ 08:55 AM EST

The Alan Wiley drama finally came to a head with the FA charging Sir Alex with improper conduct for questioning Wiley's fitness levels. It could impose a fine and a touchline ban.

"He just wasn't fit enough for a game of that standard," Ferguson said. "The fitness of the players, the pace of the game demanded a referee who was fit.

Bad Omen

For Girls Who Can't Do Football 17 October @ 03:15 PM EST
"I wonder if that's an omen", I said to my lover as we passed a dead fox on our way up the Fosse Way to the Walker's Stadium this morning.
It was only said in jest. I was feeling pretty optimistic as we looked forward to reaching Leicester and sitting down to a cooked breakfast and mug of hot tea. Click to continue reading...

George Gillett's Liverpool Statements Don't Stack Up

Anfield Talk 10 October @ 11:44 AM EST
A fan can accept football illiteracy from its owners because they know the vast majority are only in it for kudos or profit.
They can also excuse a lack of cash, if, like Bill Kenwright, they're in it mostly for love. Fans can even live with pig-headedness, aloofness and a poor knowledge of the club. Click to continue reading...

Pipe down Pompey

The Boys From White Hart Lane 08 October @ 08:31 AM EST
What's worse than an international break? One that come with two essentially meaningless England games. With World Cup qualification in the bag and nothing to play for but pride and a winning streak, there's precious little to enthuse over. And, to add insult to injury, our star man Jermain Defoe will miss both games with a finger injury. Click to continue reading...

Proof that Emmanuel Adebayor Is Insane: Crazy Antics on Last Day at Arsenal!

Caught Offside 20 September @ 05:18 AM EST

Weird!

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR'S feud with Robin van Persie began last season when he walked off with his strike partner's boots.

And the disgraced Adebayor will add insult to injury by dragging Van Persie into his battle with the FA.

The City striker was banned for three matches for raking Dutchman Van Persie's face with his studs during last week's explosive clash with Arsenal.

Thanks For The Memories, Dwight

Republik Of Mancunia 05 September @ 05:06 AM EST

Dwight Yorke had a great time at Manchester United, scoring an incredible 30 goals in his first season with the club. 1998-1999 was a magic season for us and Yorke played a massive part in it.

The goal that probably stands out in most memories is the equaliser he scored against Juve in the European Cup semi-finals, after we had gone 2-0 in ten minutes in Turin.

The USSF/MLS - CONCACAF conspiracy theory! (Part 1)

Puerto Rico Islanders soccer blog - Puerto Rico Islanders FC 12 August @ 11:58 PM EST

How could the USL outwit, outplay & outlast the MLS in the 2008-09 CONCACAF Champions League?

The answer is simple!

The level of play in the USL (as an alternative league) is closer to that of the MLS, than many (in the USSF and MLS) would like to admit to.

Summer of Soccer Rewind (Part 1 of 3)

The Kin of Fish 10 August @ 11:27 AM EST
By any standards, the Summer of 2009 will go down as one of the most memorable seasons in American Soccer history. Between the US Men's National Team's improbable run to the Confederations' Cup Final, the release of Grant Wahl's The Beckham Experiment" and the re-entry of David Beckham to the LA Galaxy, The Gold Cup, and the massive crowds that have attended top-notch Euro club friendlies, there was more buzz, more visibilty, and more soccer in America in the last few months than any other time is recent memory. Steven Gerrard's wife Alex Curran just might have pissed off the whole of Liverpool by declaring the city "rough". Tyne For Newcastle To Move On

goalpost.tv 23 June @ 05:05 PM EST

First of all I must apologise for the bad pun in the title, but like my title Newcastle United football club have became a bad joke under Chairman Mike Ashley. The replica kit wearing, pint drinking, apparent Tottenham Hotspur fan took over at a club in a city that lives and breathes football.
