Style Off: Jamie Carragher v Steven Gerrard

KICKETTE 17 November @ 01:18 PM EST

Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard were out last night at the premiere pre-party of 15 Minutes That Shook The World, held at Jamie's restaurant, Cafe Sports.

It was, for them, a blazer and denim occasion. Who do you think works the look better?

We're going to have to go with Stevie, who has obviously taken inspiration from the newest footy fash trend, and gone velvet smooth for the occasion.

England World Cup Blog 15 November @ 05:50 PM EST

Well all in all it wasn't a bad result. Though I watched the game alone I had a little liveblogging adventure with Daryl and various commenters. If you missed the game I'll give you a link to some highlights, and my pity (it was a good game). It was also, despite the fact it was a loss, was an encouraging result for England.

Persitara v Persebaya 1-2

Jakarta Casual 11 November @ 06:29 AM EST
Two home games, two home defeats, four goals conceded at home.
It's been a sorry start to the season for Persitara in their (latest) new home of Soemantri Brojonegoro Stadium. The heavens opened as the fans left the stadium and heaven might be an approriate place to start looking for inspiration as this current vintage seems to lack much of it on the field. MISSED OPPORTUNITIES: Rafa Benitez's 10 biggest transfers blunders?

Liverpool Kop 07 November @ 06:49 AM EST
No matter what happens from now until the end of the season, and whether we finish in the top 4 or not, there are a number of recent transfer deals that bother me greatly - signings, sales or missed opportunities that could've improved our squad and afforded us more depth than we currently have.
The deals relevant to last season may even have turned some of those nagging draws in wins, maybe giving us enough points to have snatched the title from Man Ure. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool 1-2 Arsenal

Oh, You Beauty... 28 October @ 05:39 PM EST
Cavalieri
Degen Skrtel Kyrgiakos Insua
Spearing Plessis
Kuyt Voronin Babel
Ngog
Goals:
Merida 19'
Insua 26'
Bendtner 50'
Any loss is disappointing, especially when the team's already lost six, but this one doesn't sting too bad. Arsenal, with Nasri, Bendtner, and Eduardo in the line-up, didn't exactly play the Super Teens, and probably deserved their victory. Click to continue reading...

All Four One, and One Four All! 24 October @ 08:39 AM EST

This will be the biggest thing in a couple of years. Just like UEFA have done with their Champions League, we will do with this. This will be to cricket what the... er... Champions League is to football.

Whose fault is it anyway

All Four One, and One Four All! 21 October @ 11:59 AM EST

Liverpool have lost 4 games in a row. In one of those matches they lost because the ball got deflected off a beach ball. That's funny. Because the Ref who allowed the goal to stay in now officiating in the Championship. Never had we seen such a goal and never will we ever see it again.

Finally: A PK We Can All Agree On

Center Holds It 24 September @ 11:47 AM EST
After a seemingly endless string of MLS PK awards that have sent fans of virtually every MLS team out into the night in search of replacement TV's (since the one they watched the game on now has a brick in it) it's nice - well, maybe nice isn't exactly the word; let's say a relief - to finally see an official point to the spot in stoppage time and not see him immediately surrounded by a lynch mob of players bent on demonstrating that the FIFA "Respect" progam is the soccer equivalent of "WIN" buttons:
Seriously, when is the last time you saw a ref call a spot kick and NOBODY says a single word to him? Click to continue reading...

Chelsea Are Going To Try To Win

pavlyuchenko's vodka bottle 19 September @ 08:24 AM EST

'uncle harry was mean to me!'

Right; so it appears that we've got a bit of a task on our hands. Chelsea away is probably the hardest place to go in the premier league. In my eyes; what we should be looking at is certainly giving them a run for their money and upping the performance from the second half spurs of old that was exhibited against Manchester United.

Premiership Talk Blog 11 September @ 09:18 AM EST

Long ago, P.J. O'Rourke in his book A Parliament of Whores said, "You can't get rid of poverty by giving people money."

I just can't help myself relating it to Manchester City.

The transfer window is closed. And, Manchester City, backed by big bucks, have spent near to £120 million in this single summer transfer window and around £200 million overall since last summer.
