In the summer of 2006 Manchester United were written off. Chelsea had just won the league with
ease and added one of the best players in the world for each position to their squad. Ashley Cole,
Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko joined them, whilst in contrast we sold our top scorer, Ruud
van Nistelrooy, and didn't replace him, and brought in Michael Carrick, who was hardly the midfield
general the fans had been hoping for.
Chelsea moved back up to fourth place in the Premier League after picking up a 2-1 away victory
against Wolves, although it took an 89th-minute winner by Frank Lampard to end Chelsea's four-match
winless run.
Stephen Ward thought he had done enough to earn Wolves their fourth consecutive draw when he
cancelled out Ramires's second-half effort with just five minutes remaining, but Lampard pounced to
take the Blues a point above Arsenal, who failed to reclaim fourth spot after losing 2-1 at
Fulham.

Well I enjoyed a nice little layoff over the last week and a half, or however long it's been
since I wrote something. I wasn't out of town, but did have more real work to do than normal. Kudos
to Darren for doing the heavy lifting over the last week.
Anyway, we've been treated to another round of mostly meaningless internationals in the last few
days.
It took an injury time goal from Lionel Messi to salvage a point for Barca at San Mames. With
this draw Barca found themselves trailing leaders Real Madrid by three points. This is the first
time Guardiola's team is trailing their arch rivals by more than two points. This result has put
the emphasis in the league back to Real madrid as they could aproach the home match against us on
December 10 with a bit of ease.
Lionel Messi scored an injury-time goal to salvage a point as Barcelona drew 2-2 with Athletic
Bilbao Twice the Spanish champions went behind in a match which is traditionally the oldest in La
Liga history, and twice they rallied back with goals from Cesc Fabregas and a 91st minute strike
from Lionel Messi.

We've already seen a player notch with his crotch today, so bona fide Brazilian futsal legend
Falcao's injury-time goal against Russia in the Grand Prix final continues the theme nicely in so
far as the tricky-dicky 34-year old veteran scored the late winner with his left breasticle to
secure a 2-1 victory at the death and, by extension, that Brazil lifted the trophy on home
soil.

Crowd trouble The Bosnian Cup match between Zrinjski and Velez descended into chaotic scenes when
Rijad Demic scored an injury time goal for away side Velez. The game is the Mostar derby, with the

The Strikers proved their victory last week versus Edmonton was no fluke by taking out league
leader Carolina Railhawks 2-1 with 10 men and a lot of heart! Over 3,000 fans showed up to a game
threatened by rain and were delighted to see a hard fought Strikers dominated game. As an omen of
good fortune the sky turned red and yellow, perhaps a sign of things to come (See picture).
Still having technical difficulties that make it difficult to post. So, here is a quick update
on SKC.
SKC lost to Seattle by giving up another injury time goal.
And SKC qualified for the US Open Cup by destroying the Revolution's mostly reserve team
5-1.
A man's errors are his portals of discovery
One by one they walked off, the golden generation. Jermain Defoe shirtless; Joe Cole man of a match
he would never wish to remember; Paolo Di Canio staring straight ahead, perhaps contemplating his
pledge to commit suicide if West Ham were relegated.

The title races in both France and Germany took another turn this weekend, while AC Milan and
Manchester United took anther step towards winning their respective championships.
France
The Ligue 1 title race tightened as leaders Lille were upset 1-0 by Monaco. Luckily for Lille,
there other title contenders failed to take full advantage of Lille's defeat.
Gennaro Gattuso's pathetic display of petulance helped an Italian team revert to stereotype last
night and it's debatable whether his absence in the second leg will be a bigger blow to Milan or
Spurs.
Amidst Gattuso's childish performance we saw imaginary cards being waved and a horrendous
two-footed tackle from ex-goon Flamini that could have easily inflicted far more damage than it
did.
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — Marcus Berg and Balazs Dzsudzsak each scored twice as PSV Eindhoven
blanked AZ Alkmaar 4-0 to stay top of the Dutch league on Saturday. Berg slotted a rebound to give
PSV the lead after eight minutes then Ola Toivonen played in Dzsudzsak for the second on the stroke
of the hour.
