While Harry continues to dominate the headlines there's the small matter of our Premiership
fixture against Newcastle United on Saturday evening as Spurs prepare to welcome their boss back
into the dugout.
Normally at this stage of proceedings we have an injury update and the club will be sweating on
the fitness of a number of players including Jermain Defoe, Rafael van der Vaart, Younes Kaboul and
Aaron Lennon.

After getting thru the anti-climax that was QPR, Chelsea have announced that John Terry will
miss the trip to the Liberty Stadium, coincidentally in line with the week his trial for racial
abuse commences. More, after the jump:
M.I.A.
In a late-night conversation with The Doc, we both agreed that John could profit from a stretch
of rest.
We of course don't have the official prognosis yet, but on the strength of quotes from both the
player and Andre Villas-Boas it looks like we may have dodged a massive bullet.
Worrying moments
Ramires went down in serious pain during the second half of today's FA Cup fourth-round tie at
Loftus Road against Queens Park Rangers.
Some good and some bad news for Salomon Kalou today at the Africa Cup of Nations.
We'll start with the good, the real good. Kalou opened the scoring for Côte d'Ivoire in their
2-0 win against Burkina Faso tonight. Peep Sal's excellent volley in visual form below.
The volley was the cherry on the top of what was another fine performance from the rarely used
Chelsea vet.
This doesn't sound too promising. While the rest of the boys headed off to Spain after the
disappointing draw with Norwich City, Frank Lampard remained behind. Poor guy.
He instead headed back to London in order to undergo scans on what is suspected to be a torn
calf muscle. You may recall him being removed after only 37 minutes at Carrow Road.
The only one with the ball will be the one missing
Ahead of this Sunday's game against Manchester United, the latest injury news update does not
help to reassure any nerves. We are already going through a bad run of 2 consecutive league losses
at the moment ahead of the imminent arrival of the team that gave us a beating in August.

A bit of injury news from around the Premier League as we tinker with our teams this holiday
weekend. Phil Jones could play on Boxing Day against Wigan. Manchester United could really use him.
They are in good form, but ... Continue reading →
Looking around this morning, it's probably best to start with positive injury news, which
unfortunately comes almost exclusively in terms of Villa missing players.
It seems that Bent, Heskey, Herd and possibly also Collins are out for Villa.
England's Brave John Terry limped out of today's public training session with what looked to
have been a serious injury to his ankle. Thankfully, this appears to be a case of looking worse
than it actually was.
Terry apparently suffered a tweak to his Achilles tendon when blocking a shot during the
session.
I think many of us were looking forward to seeing the face of Michael Essien on English Premier
League pitches some time this holiday season. It looks like we're going to have to wait a bit
longer, however.
Not quite ready
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas, speaking at his pre-Wigan press conference, touched on
Essien's progress or lack thereof.

The most prized left foot in the club now
When it rains, it pours. Especially when it is related to the Arsenal injury news. If you
haven't already heard, Andre Santos will need to undergo a surgery to repair his damaged ligament
in his right ankle. That will take him out of action right until middle of March.
Catching up on all the tidbits you might have missed during the week that was. More, after the
jump:
Back in action
First, Jack wrote a brilliant piece on the return of one Sam Hutchinson this morning which
deserves recognition. So, before going any further, read here.
Michael Vick's injury woes continue. For fantasy football owners and Philadelphia Eagles fans,
we have more bad news: Michel Vick is out for Thursday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Michael Vick will miss his third straight game due to broken ribs. Vince Young, who threw for a
career-high 400 yards last week against the New England Patriots, will start once again.
The latest Arsenal injury news regarding Kieran Gibbs will have come as no surprise to Arsenal Fans
given his previous chequered history in the Gunners treatment room, but will Wenger do anything to
correct the problem in January. Arsenal have been linked with the Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen for
some time, and as he is [.

Perfect pub for the away fans? Haha... Look at me, typing up a blog post for you all on my

that?? Haha! Anyways, back on topic... Liverpool welcome Welsh side Swansea to Anfield on

Friday again? How does this keep happening with such regularity? I don't quite know where this
last year has gone. I just remembered this morning that it's just over a year since Arseblog came
back under my total control, my despotic regime is progressing nicely with Commander Tom readying
the technological weapons of war and .
As you already know, a promising young midfielder named Josh McEachran may be leaving the club
on loan in January. Could an injury-blighted veteran with monster upside make his return around the
same time? We can only hope.
Moving forward
Andre Villas-Boas, speaking today in his customary pre-match press conference, dropped some
knowledge on the situations of both Didier Drogba and Michael Essien.
Viktoria Plzen v Barcelona: Catalans one step away from knockout stage - originally posted on

Group H sees Barcelona and AC Milan visit Viktoria Plzen and BATE Borisov respectively on
Matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League. Both these fixtures will decide whether the giants confirm
their spots in the Round of 16 or will the smaller clubs still have a chance.
Morning chums!
Football returns tomorrow. For some. The rest of us have to wait until Sunday to sit around
hungover and watch Arsenal, but it's coming. And with that comes the news. The life-blood of this
very site. Stuff about Arsenal. It's marvelous. Arsene Wenger has been talking about various things
and we can pore over every word, examing them, analysing them, and seeking to be offended at the
slightest little thing.
Sounders May Not Want To Talk Treble, But Why Shouldn't We? - Sounder At Heart
Even if the Galaxy are only able to get a point out of those two matches, the Sounders would
still have to be perfect in their remaining three. Saturday, they play the Philadelphia Union at
home. The Union still have a lot to play for as they could finish anywhere from atop the Eastern
Conference to out of the playoffs.
For many, Sam Hutchinson represents a specter of a foregone era at The Bridge- a time when Jose
Mourinho ran the roost and everyone wondered if we'd ever produce an academy star, to rival the
likes of John Terry, after years of significant investment. Currently, we're replete with inventory
when it comes to young prospects, but once upon a time, this wasn't the case.
The injury news for Michael Vick took a rare turn for the good on Monday morning. After first
saying that Vick broke his right hand, the Philadelphia Eagles now say that Vick suffered a bruised
hand. That news makes it much more likely that Vick will be able to play in Week 4.
In the fantasy football world, Vick owners can now breathe a sigh of relief.
Yossi Benayoun has confirmed that he will be out for around a week, after picking up an injury
in last night's Carling Cup win against Shrewsbury Town.
The Israeli midfielder, currently on loan at Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea, scored his
first Gunners goal in the side's 3-1 win over the League 2 high-flyers.
Overall, the injury news from Spurs has improved in the last couple of weeks and that trend
looks set to continue with both William Gallas and Sandro in contention to play against Stoke in
the Carling Cup tomorrow night.
Neither player has featured in Spurs' squad to date, even in pre-season, and manager Harry
Redknapp is looking forward to having both available for selection once again,
"I'm hoping William Gallas may be okay to come back, we'll see how he is after training this
morning," said Harry earlier today.
At last some good new for Gooners. Injured midfielder Jack Wilshere is seemingly ahead of time
in his race to win back his fitness after suffering an ankle problem. The young star used his
Twitter account to tell his army of followers that he has had a decent day and that he hopes to be
back involved in the action any time soon.
