Good evening Geordies and welcome to our latest "match banter" feature for this evenong's game,
which will be yet another battle of the birds. First it was Magpies v Canaries, then Magpies v
Swans, and now the Mags find themselves battling the Throstles of West Bromwich Albion for a juicy
three point worm.
Newcastle United centre-back Mike Williamson nears fitness and, whilst an alleged bid for a West
Ham defender fails, it seems that Modibo Maiga is actually heading to Tyneside. With our central
defence currently emptier than a Mackem's head, there's some welcome news that Mike Williamson
managed 45 minutes for the reserve team against Bolton yesterday [.
I've always had my doubts about some Chelsea fans, most notably their intellectual ability and
capacity for absorbing and understanding larger chunks of information. I mean, I can only speak as
I find and the one's I've met at various games haven't really come across as the brightest buttons
in the box.
Well, there was some good news (maybe) on the Fabricio Coloccini injury front as Alan Pardew
struggles with Newcastle United's post Chelsea defensive crisis. Speaking at an awards ceremony in
Gateshead, the permed paragon revealed that a start in Saturday's game against Norwich City at
Carrow Road may indeed be a possibilty saying: 'It is [.
Newcastle United's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea pales into insignificance compared to the
prospect of playing without Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor. I'm not particularly worried
about the 0-3 scoreline on Saturday. Things didn't go our way with the sending off that didn't
happen, the loss of Coloccini early on then Taylor near [.
Newcastle United injury round-up and manager's opinions ahead of Saturday's visit to Old Trafford.
There's good news for Alan Pardew as the word on the street is that Gabriel Obertan will be fit for
Saturday's game, although it remains to be seen whether or not he gets a start. Less encouraging
news is that Tiote [.
Newcastle United have injury worries ahead of their visit to Eastlands on the weekend, so who will
be fit enough to play on Saturday? There are a couple of ways to look at our next three games
against City, United and Chelsea: either we're in with a chance of some points if we have a [...]
After a gutsy win over Everton this weekend I picked myself up from the floor after a nervous last
20 minutes or so and began to wonder, "Did the performance display Newcastle United's squad depth
and quality, or did it highlight our lack of it?" Let me explain. Most so called "pundits" have
attributed the [.
The testing never stops 'round here! As we go into the lull that is international football and
worse still, friendly internationals, we see our first major flood of injuries hobble into the
Saint James' Park sickbay. At least we'll have a couple of weeks to try and get over some of them.
All the while [.
As most of you no doubt know, Newcastle United suffered several injuries during last Saturday's
early kick-off against Everton. Well before the game, Alan Pardew's usual right wing choice,
Gabriel Obertan, had to pull out from selection with a toe infection. Then, during the game itself,
Yohan Cabaye was the first to go down with [.
The international break has come at an opportune time for Newcastle United as injuries to the squad
begin to mount up. I think we all knew that a potential Achilles Heel for us has been the onset of
injuries as the season progresses. It is of course a problem for any of the teams that [...]

match details, thoughts on the upcoming game and more, please check out our extensive preview of

Venue: St James' Park, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Date: Sat 5th November, 2011. Kick-off: 12.45pm.
Referee: Andre Marriner (Linesmen: S Ledger & A Watts). TV: Sky Sports 2 / HD2. Hello and welcome
to our preview for Newcastle United's home clash with the "Toffees" of Everton. Don't forget that
as per usual, I will also be doing our [.
Newcastle United have two injuries to contend with a minor one for Steven Taylor and a more
significant one for Shola Ameobi. Alan Pardew is considering playing Steven Taylor with a broken
nose on Wednesday, by which I mean Steven Taylor has the broken nose rather than Alan Pardew. At
least I don't think [.

Swarbrick Roberto Martinez brings his Wigan squad up to Tyneside this Saturday, as Newcastle United
will look to continue their undefeated record in all competitions so far this season. There is no
live UK broadcast of the match, but due to [.
When you look at Newcastle United's great start to the Premier League campaign, it certainly isn't
due to some great tactical masterstroke. We have been playing the same old 4-4-2 with lots of
endeavour down the flanks and a pretty high pace, much like many other Premiership teams. However,
one of the things which has [.
Good news for Newcastle United as both Demba Ba and Hatem Ben Arfa look to be in contention to play
on Sunday. Some good news for Newcastle fans. The first bit of good news is that Demba Ba is
reportedly fit enough to play on Sunday. He picked up an injury during his last outing [...]
Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye fears he may have ligament damage to his ankle. Yohan
Cabaye is worried that he picked up a bad ankle injury whilst on international duty for France on
Friday. France were playing Albania and by all accounts Cabaye had put in a tidy first half
performance but he was substituted [.
There have been some reports that Newcastle United's top scorer in the Premiership season so far,
Demba Ba, may miss Newcastle United's next game with Tottenham Hotspur in two weeks. According to
the AFP (Agence France-Presse) newsagency, the player turned his ankle before just before being
substituted by Peter Lovenkrands in yesterday's game with Wolves [.

Atkinson This week will see Newcastle United playing at home for the first time in four games, as
Indian chicken mogul owned Blackburn Rovers pay a visit to St James' Park. The game will also be
notable in that it will [.
Speaking in a rare interview, Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, has declared that
French-Tunisian wonder winger, Hatem Ben Arfa will have to show more "flashes of brilliance in
training" before he'll give him a first team start. In a somewhat surprising change of tack from
his recent gushing about the player's abilties, Pardew said of [.
Newcastle United's Hatem Ben Arfa is keen to get started with Premier League football after his
appearance against Nottingham Forest in the Carling Cup on Tuesday. Alan Pardew won't be rushing
him back but could it be that the eventual return of Ben Arfa will signal a shift in the way the
whole team plays?
In a rare interview, Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, has been speaking at length about Hatem
Ben Arfa, at times making him sound like a kind of Gallic Joey Barton when he got on to the subject
of the players character and temperament. He also likened him to a brand of well known lager which
[.
Newcastle United have issued a statement on their website in an attempt to get things straight on
Davide Santon's recent training ground injury to his right knee. As I pointed out in this story
yesterday, the ex Internazionale wing back has a history of right knee problems stemming from an
lateral meniscus tear picked up [.
Earlier today, Davide Santon injured his right knee once again in training. Speaking in a rare
interview, Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, suggested that may have been another recurrence
of a *lateral meniscus injury which have haunted the Italian since it was torn in an Italy
Under-21s game against Luxembourg in November, 2009.
Alan Pardew puts paid to the idea of bringing in any free agents to plug any gaps in the Newcastle
United squad, and he looks forward to the return of Hatem Ben Arfa. You are probably not surprised
to find out that this is 'it' now in terms of the squad until January. Pardew has [...]
Good news as Newcastle United's Hatem Ben Arfa injured since the pre-season game against Sporting
Kansas City undergoes a light training session with the physio. Given our failure to recruit an
additional striker, we have to hope that Best continues the way he's been going and that Shola and
Ba come good.

As many of you may have heard, Hatem Ben Arfa was stretchered off in the Magpies' 0-0 draw with US
team, Sporting Kansas early this morning (UK time). As easteemed collegue Hugh reported in this
piece, Ben Arfa was injured around thity minute into the game after a tackle by Kanasas player,
Espinoza. This is [.
The stretchering off of Newcastle United's Hatem Ben Arfa has raised some questions (at least with
this writer) about whether we are indeed an injury-prone club. This article was prompted by the
recent injury to Hatem Ben Arfa in Newcastle's 0-0 draw with Sporting Kansas City, but it's
something that has concerned me for quite [.
In all the euphoria of Mike Ashley recently signing three players of seemingly high calibre, all
for under £5 million, it can be forgotten that two of these player have had injury question marks
hanging over them, so I have decided to investigate the problem and look to see if Mike Ashley has
taken something [.

Birmingham allegedly want Newcastle's Leon Best. Dan Gosling and Hatem Ben Arfa get in some early
pre-season training. And Michael Owen seems to have upset a few people. With all the speculation
about who we might be buying, I'd quite forgotten that other teams might want some of our players
other than Jose Enrique.
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew dismisses 'whispers' alleging that Ben Arfa will never be the
same player after his broken leg. Apparently there have been 'whispers' that Hatem Ben Arfa will
never properly recover from the double leg break inflicted upon him by Nigel de Jong. All I can say
is that they must have [.
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew praises Nolan and expects him to be fit for pre-season. The
manager also gives more detail about Harper's injury. Now that Kevin Nolan is definitely finished
playing for the season, Alan Pardew has taken the opportunity to praise the 12 goal midfielder: "He
brings leadership, technical ability and goals, very [.
At the holy ground of St. James Park it's always been a case of "it never rains but it pours",
which is of course the shortened version. The full idiom is "it never rains but it pours toxic
waste with the occasional sharp object thrown in to further increase damage." Not even joking. Our
long [...]
Newcastle United have been hit, once again, with injury woes, with both Mike Williamson and Hatem
Ben Arfa both being ruled out of contention for the final three games. Word has it that Mike
Williamson, the centre back who has played most games for Newcastle this season, managed to break
his arm in training.
Alan Smith is back in training but may not play for Newcastle again until next season. The last
time Alan Smith played for us was back in January against Brucie's louts. During that game his
ankle was broken by Kieron Richardson and he's been crocked ever since. However, Smith fans will be
pleased to know [.
Newcastle United's usually tightlipped supremo, Alan Pardew, has been giving a rare interview in
which he says that on loan midfielder, Stephen Ireland, has it all to prove in the next six games
if he hopes to make his move to the club permanent. He also announced that he will get his first
chance to [.
