Bem-vindo to Day 3 of Selecao Bootcamp! These Brazilian caras
are still in Libreville, Gabon where they're scheduled to play a friendly as part
of the inauguration of the newly-built 'Friendship stadium' below today. As we mentioned, the guys
have been training hard and Menezes just announced his starting line-up with
Hulk and Jonas leading the attack today.
Snubbed How must this guy be feeling today after being rejected by Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola
at the official inauguration of the club's Masia training complex? The first time we see Guardiola
in this video, he's having a kiss and cuddle with a man in a suit. He then moves along and receives
another kiss [.
Juventus: Old Lady, new lease of life is a post from: Just Football
by Gianfilippo Scarpati
The 8th of September 2011 marks an historic date for the old lady of Italian football. The
opening of a new state of the art stadium is every bit reflective of the new lease of life she has
had breathed into her.
The Echoes of Silence
Quiet around here, isn't it? Pretty quiet everywhere in fact. No games and no drama coupled
together with a closed transfer window leaves us all in the same position. Like being a newly
elected president kicking his heels till the inauguration, patiently waiting for the new dawn.
Overrated. Flop. Failure.
These are words that many believe encapsulate the Manchester United career of the elegant yet
frustrating Juan Sebastian Verón. Arriving at United in 2001 for a then British record £28.1
million pounds, the Argentine playmaker was consistently disappointing, the sea of mediocrity that
was his United tenure only occasionally giving way to the moments of class and quality one might
expect from one of such considerable reputation.
What caught my attention recently is the name of the stadium that is hosting a game that I am
watching at the moment of Peru vs. Colombia game in Cordoba Province, it is Mario Kempes
Stadium.
I thought that it is very interesting and a great way of honoring the legendary players by naming
stadiums after them, may be more touching than building a statue like Eusebio or giving "Sir" title
like that of Bobby Charlton or Alex Ferguson.
The 2011 Women's World Cup begins on the 26th of June at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena in Sinsheim, and
it is appropriate that, with the tournament returning to Europe for the first time since 1995, it
should be held in Germany. The Germans have won six of the last seven European Championships as
well as the last two World Cups, and there has been a women's Bundesliga since 1990, which began
its life as two regional divisions in 1990 before becoming a national league in 1997.
"More Than a Club" is the slogan for Barcelona FC.
Since its founding, Barcelona has been on a road of self-discovery. Some time along the way, the
people of Catalonia started to envisage Barcelona as a symbol of their country—more than a
club.
To some, especially in times of oppression under Fransisco Franco's long dictatorship in Spain,
Barcelona FC was envisaged as the club who expressed the rights and freedom of the Catalonian
people.
Many electrons and much ink (which is a form of electron used mostly in the 20th century) has
been dedicated to the off-the-field aspects of this weekend's match between the Seattle Sounders
and Portland Timbers. It is, after all, the MLS inauguration of a rivalry which has apparently had
the rest of US soccer fandom squirming with anticipation for the last year.
Distributing of these subsides or commonly known as the "seed monies" first started in the league's
inauguration in 1996 when funds were allocated to the eight founding clubs to help them to make up
of the shortfall that might incurred during the operation in the infancy of the fledging years.
It was to say that the clubs were hoped to stop receiving these "seed monies" after three years
after consolidate themselves during the said period.
The Federación Costarricense de Fútbol has launched a special edition Costa Rica Lotto 2011 home
kit to be used for the inauguration of the new Estadio Nacional in San Jose on March 29th. Costa
Rica will meet Argentina in an international friendly as part of the stadium inauguration. The new
Ticos jersey departs from the red [.
