Want some good news? Chicago is still ahead of D.C. United in the standings. Want some better
news? D.C. United have to travel to Saputo Stadium to play Impact de Montreal on Saturday. Montreal
have been unbelievable at home this year and near Portland Timbers level awful on the road. If
Montreal can maintain their home dominance against D.
In the first three parts of this series, I worked my way through the thick weeds of the roster,
pruning and purging. On the far side, I arrived with the roster sorted into the following
categories...
Four of the twenty-seven players on the roster don't need to be sheltered from the rapacious
grasp of L'Impact de Montreal by virtue of their being home grown talents.

So, the MLS season starts tonight. As I write this, Montreal and Vancouver has gone final, With
Vancouver ending up with three points over the expansion Impact de Montreal (I love typing that).
And normally, I'll watch with a curious eye, but not that much interest.
Por tercer año seguido el Seattle Sounders ha sido victima del Reclutamiento de Expansión
(Expansion Draft), esta vez por el nuevo equipo de la MLS el Impact de Montreal. El club canadiense

Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber was on hand Friday night to watch Toronto FC and Real
Madrid in Toronto, where he confirmed Montreal would not receive an expansion team in 2011.
Reports surfaced this week that Montreal Impact owner Joey Saputo was in discussion with Garber
over joining the league as soon as 2011, but Garber was quick to dispel that idea at half-time on
Friday night.
According to today's article from the Montreal Gazette, Montreal Impact owner Joey Saputo makes the
following comments:Â "...If everything falls into place, and expectations are high they will,
Montreal could be awarded an MLS franchise by the end of the month to begin play in 2011, after
meetings of the league's expansion committee.
Odd man out. Joey Saputo scrambles to the MLS table.
Very interesting and fast moving developments in Montreal.
Montreal looks to be very desperate to join MLS along with the two other USL powers, Portland and
Vancouver. So much so that Joey Saputo rushed down to New York City for a meeting with 'The Don.
Joey Saputo missed out on when the door closed 2011 expansion. Now he hopes to pry it back
open.
Knowing that time is running out on his clubs chances of entering MLS, Montreal's Joey Saputo has
turned from jogging to a full court press ahead of next weeks MLS Board of Governors Meeting.
We received the following from a MLSR reader from the 24th Minute blog:
MONTREAL — The Montreal Impact is seeking $25 million in government funding to expand its
stadium and strengthen its bid for a Major League Soccer franchise.
Joey Saputo, president of the United Soccer Leagues club, said the decision was inspired by
government funding of stadiums to be used by the two teams recently granted franchises by MLS for
2011 - Vancouver and Portland, Ore.
This rumor being confirmed no doubt will be music to UM02's ears.Extra special thanks to our
friends at Major League Soccer Talk for this. We just received word from them that they have
confirmation from someone within the Montreal organization that our rumor concerning a revitalized
Montreal Impact MLS Expansion bid with a potential compromise over how the $40 Million USD will be
paid, is in fact true.
This week, I had the distinct pleasure to trade a series of three questions and answers with
Benzinho of the Mount Royal Soccer blog ahead of the first ever meeting of Houston Dynamo and
Impact de Montreal at the recently renovated and expanded Stade Saputo Saturday at 6 p.m. Central
(either daylight or standard.
Good afternoon! It's yet another match day @The Cathedral of Football, Red Bull Arena (built by
Makita). Today, the Red Bulls will be taking on the newest addition to MLS, L'Impact de Montreal
(4:00pm ET, MSG, Match Notes here). While this game will mark the first MLS meeting between the two
clubs, both have met each other before.
Could David Beckham teaming up with the ever vocal, Joey Saputo? Strange as that may sound
according to at least one insider the two have spoken of the possibility.

And according to a person with knowledge of Beckham's planning who spoke on condition of anonymity
because of concerns about jeopardizing any potential deal, Beckham and his management team at 19
Entertainment (led by Simon Fuller) and Creative Artists Agency (led by Jeff Frasco) are interested
in partnering with Joey Saputo, the owner of the Montreal Impact (the club now plays in United

The CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinals continue this week with all of the 2nd legs being
played south of the US border.
Things kick off tonight at 10pm eastern as Atlante in Cancun, Mexico plays host to the Houston

With Saturday's 3-1 victory over the Impact de Montreal, the Chicago Fire have gone 5-0-1 against Canadian (or Canadien) teams this season. While the victory against Montreal was fairly comfortable, things got a little too close in Toronto. A look at Toronto's push for a draw, Alex's performance on Saturday and Chicago Fire ball-hawking after the jump.
Ever wonder what might happen if Impact de Montreal met the Houston Dynamo? Well wonder no
longer.....
