By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Jan 23, 2012) US Soccer Players -- On Sunday morning, the Premier
League on Fox gave us a glimpse of the immediate future of professional soccer in the United
States. A live regular season game on network television treated the same way as the other North
American pro sports.
Alleged Liverpool target Benjamin Corgnet has dismissed speculation surrounding his immediate
future, and he's confirmed that he will not be leaving France for the Premier League in January.
Last week, Dijon coach Patrice Carteron told RMC that Corgnet was going nowhere:"He stays. We had a
direct approach from Newcastle but Benjamin is of the same approach as us, and wants to continue to
progress
QPR have sacked manager Neil Warnock and his backroom staff have also left the club. Malaysian
owner Tony Fernandes released this statement:
"This decision has been made in the best interests of the Club and I can assure everyone that this
is not a decision that was made lightly."
"Sadly, our recent run of poor form has seen us slip alarmingly down the table and the Board
felt it was the right time to make a change.
In a major surprise Neil Warnock has been fired by Queens Park Rangers, after less than two
years in charge. Rangers currently sit 17th in the Premier League table with only 17 points from
their first 20 matches.
I called it a surprise in that we have now had two managers fired this season; Steve Bruce and
Neil Warnock, and Steve Kean still has a job!
Neil Warnock has been fired by Queens Park Rangers, after less than two years in charge. Rangers

FC Twente frontman Luuk de Jong has reiterated his desire to play in the Premiership, alerting a
host of clubs, including both Liverpool and Tottenham, who are reportedly interested in him.
21 year-old de Jong's contract with his current employers runs out in June of 2014, meaning that
any prospective suitors would have to stump up a sum of around €10 million in order to prise him
away from Enschede.

The first Friday night league game in England in over twenty years hardly started well for
Liverpool, following the pattern set by matches against Blackburn, Wigan, and Fulham in recent
weeks.
Liverpool has been handed a transfer blow after long-time target Stevan Jovetic pledged his
immediate future to Fiorentina.
The 22-year-old Montenegrin forward has been a key player for the Italian side this term after
missing the whole of last season through injury.
Liverpool has monitored Jovetic in the past but he says he wants to stay in Italy.

Hello EPL Talk followers and football fans alike....and happy holidays to all. I'm finding it
difficult to not only think about the condensed fixtures and amazing games there are in the
immediate future, but I'm trying to save some smiles ...
This is a content summary. Visit http://www.epltalk.
Now that we've had a few days to digest our implosion against Manchester City, the only thing to
do now is move on. It's confined to the history books, forget it. Nothing can be changed now. The
only thing that can be done is correcting it in the future. Starting on Saturday when we kick-off
at noon away to Everton.
Happy Monday to you. With the MLS season concluded, we now have a clear picture of the playoffs and
are able to look back on the season with retrospective eyes. Here are a few things bouncing around
my head as we enter the second season of MLS action.
No Wondo, No DeRo: How remarkable is it that the Golden Boot winner and his main competition
are done for the season?
This was a tough week for a lot of the clubs at the top of last week's rankings. Needless to say
(thought that won't stop me), the toughest week was had by Manchester United, whose 1-6 loss to
intercity rivals Manchester City was its worst home loss since the 1930-31 season. That wasn't the
only slip near the top, though.
I saw this quote over on Buzz's site (3rdDegree.net) about the whole Brek Shea rumor situation.
I'm like most down here in Dallas that cover the team, you know Shea will get sold eventually to a
club overseas but it won't be anytime in the immediate future. Yes, he's doing well on the National
team level, which only drives his price up more.
Harry Redknapp's been involved in football long enough to know that great opportunities are hard
to come by. It's taken him many years to reach the level he has, so should he risk throwing it all
away?
A look at previous England managers such as Eriksson, Keegan, Hoddle and McClaren proves that
it's hard or even impossible to recover your reputation.
A mid-season tour of India was supposed to provide SteveKean with a bit of relief from the storm
brewing among the terraces at EwoodPark.
Instead it has merely fuelled the fires, with a ‘Kean out'banner somehow making the journey to
Asia with him and unfurled during afriendly and a third supporter protest planned upon his return.
It could have been worse, believe it or not. Four goals down with five minutes left to play of
the first half, five down mid-way through the second. Eventually, though, Sheffield Wednesday
managed a consolation goal and pegged their opposition down to a five to one score-line, but this
doesn't mask the fact that Gary Megson is now skating on thin ice as the manager of a club which
continues to loll around in League One and, on the basis of this evening's performance, seems
unlikely to improve upon this at any point in the immediate future unless the manager can turn
around a dismal early season run of form.

With a weather-induced fixture logjam in their immediate future, the Union need to start scoring
goals (and earning points) quickly. Yet, the attack continues to be lacking as the Union languish
near the bottom of the MLS table in almost every offensive statistical category.
By the time 90 minutes were up at Old Trafford, the superlatives used to describe Manchester
United's 8-2 hammering of Arsenal had all already been worn out. ('Hammering' is also a
superlative, well done for pointing that out.) United were relentless, ruthless and quite simply
remarkable; and, although they were a bit shaky at the back, they look a side destined to cover
themselves in glory come next May.
Why Arsenal only need a head-it stop-it kick-it tackle-it defender to be title
challengers again
Arsene Wenger looks like a man with the troubles of the world on his shoulders. Maybe that's why
he flirted with Paris St Germain in the summer but, in the end, insisted he would never break a
contract.
By Kaushik Lakshman, our new La Liga expert. Give him a warm welcome!
The new season of La Liga is almost upon us and there has been a lot shake-ups in several
squads. The big two have gotten stronger, but there have also been significant improvements in the
next rung of teams.
The season hath arrived. Well, not for another 24 hours and change, but whatever.
As we prepare ourselves for such a grandiose occasion, we must first transform a Maybach into
some twisted machine out of Mad Max. Sophisticated ignorance.
Now, with that out of the way, we can look forward to the immediate future of Chelsea Football
Club.
It certainly went to the wire, of that much we can be certain. In fact, it could even be said
that it went into extra-time. Eventually, however, the immediate future of Wrexham Football Club
was secured by the only people in this particular story that have given every impression of being
completely trustworthy from the very start the fans themselves.
Due to the recent 'events' in London and elsewhere, the England v Holland friendly tomorrow
evening has been postponed we'd received a preview article from William Taylor and
although the game's off, William's points are worth reading.
The emergence of Jack Wilshere on the international scene has cast doubt over the future of
Frank Lampard's England career.
Fiorentina may be priced out of a move for Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani by the player's
wages, according to his agent.
Aquilani, 27, is rumoured to be heading for an Anfield exit this summer as Kenny Dalglish seeks to
overhaul his squad.
The Italian spent last season on loan at Juventus but, after they turned down the opportunity to
sign him, he has returned to a Liverpool side strengthened by new signings Jordan Henderson and
Charlie Adam.
Same stadium - new red shirtThe Reds made a curious pair of deals today in that they
both seem to represent the beginning of a path to change rather than a conclusion. The club
officially announced the acquisition of 29-year-old Canadian international midfielder Terry
Dunfield from Vancouver Whitecaps while a deal sending Nana Attakora to San Jose Earthquakes has
been announced by the player, but at time of writing yet to be officially announced by TFC.
It's starting to become known as The Vaughan Effect, and it's a very modern phenomenon. Whenever
any mention is made of the slightest possibility the involvement of either of the Stephen Vaughans
getting involved in a football club, there is a reflex reaction from the supporters of the club
concerned and from various social media outlets, and this time the club with which this most dread
of names has been associated with is Stockport County.
New Inter coach Gasperini looks for improvement next season - originally posted on
Soccerlens.com
New Inter coach Gian Piero Gasperini was introduced to the world's media for the first time and
claimed he knows his side will improve on their second placed finish last season. Gasperini was
flanked at the press conference by technical director Marco Branca and vice managing director
Stefano Filucchi and the former Genoa manager is desperate to impress.
Despite Manchester United's rampant activity this summer, United still haven't addressed the
pressing need of finding a central midfielder to replace Paul Scholes. They are currently embroiled
in transfer sagas over immediate replacements like Wesley Sneijder, Luka Modric and Samir
Nasri.
Cristian Zapata's agent has played down reports the Udinese defender is set to complete a move to
Liverpool.
Last week the Colombia international was quoted as saying he was close to sealing a deal with the
Premier League giants.
Bayern Munich had also made an approach for the 24-year-old, who was previously a target of
Arsenal.

We're not going to dally too long over this one as, frankly, we find the whole ongoing 'Fabregas
to Barca' rigmarole bloody tedious, as we're sure you do too by now.
Anywhom, we think it's fairly safe to assume that Cesc's Arsenal teammate Bacary Sagna has
hardly waffled his way into Arsene Wenger's good books giving French radio station RMC a
comprehensive rundown of all the reasons why his captain will be returning home to Catalonia before
too long:
"I can say it's true that Cesc wants to go to Barca.
Rumours swirl about the immediate future of Julian de Guzman with Toronto FC. Why I think it might

If you happen to peruse the gossip columns or play Football Manager from time to time, you're
bound to be aware of young Romelu Lukaku the depressingly prodigious, ridiculously prolific
Anderlecht striker who seems to have been prone for a big-money move to one of Europe's elite for
years, despite only being 19 years of age at present.
This is not an injury for antsWhat could be the worst way to repair a defence that
just saw itself ripped open for six goals this past weekend? How about losing the anchor of that
already porous backline for the remainder of the season? No?
Thought you'd seen the last of Ty Harden?
Frank Klopas wrapped up his first training session as the "interim head coach" of the Chicago
Fire this morning by answering questions regarding the immediate future and direction of the team
after yesterday's dismissal of Carlos De Los Cobos. Klopas explained that the move was a "soccer
decision" and was not an easy move to make considering that as Technical Director, De Los Cobos was
his choice in January 2010.

On the very day that, according to the Guardian at least, the Manchester United board will take
a relaxed attitude to Sir Alex going out and snagging a couple of 'bank-breaking, world-class
targets' this summer comes the news that Wesley Sneijder a man who was thought to be at the very
top of Fergie's wishlist will sadly not be one of them.
We have all seen the speculation during the course of this season about Chelsea being linked with
Romelu Lukaku the big 18 year old Anderlecht striker. Hailed as the "New Didier Drogba" it seems as
though it only seemed a matter of time before we made our move. However, recent comments from the
player himself seems to have dampened the speculation as he seems to be focusing on his current
club in the immediate future rather than a move away.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. One-hundred and eighty-seven minutes without a goal. For the New England
Revolution, it's becoming an all too familiar story this season. The Revs (2-3-4, 10 points) enter
Saturday's showdown with the Vancouver Whitecaps (1-4-5, 8 points) on the back of being shutout in
two consecutive matches and four of their last five MLS games.
Gareth Bale has spoken out about his Spurs future but stopped short of categorically saying that
he will be at White Hart Lane next season. In a week when more rumours surfaced, Gareth spoke in
this month's Hotspur magazine about the importance of confidence in his game.
Bale said: "I have not always been the most confident of people.
