Ignacio Piatti is sticking around in Montreal.

The Designated Player has signed a contract that keeps him with the Impact for a season and a half, the club announced on Tuesday. His new contract, which has him staying with the Canadian club until 2019, also includes an option for the 2020 MLS season.

Ignacio Piatti won't be leaving the Montreal Impact in the near future.

The Montreal Impact announced on Thursday that the club has come to terms with Piatti on a new contract that extends Piatti's stay past the originalJune 2018 expiration.

"We are very excited that Nacho has decided to stay in Montreal," said Impact president Joey Saputo.

Ignacio Piatti wasted no time making his presence felt in the Montreal Impact lineup in his return from injury.

Piatti didn't start a single game in July, but he returned to Mauro Biello's XI on August 5 and instantly caught fire while earning honors as SBI MLS Player of the Month for his August efforts

The Argentinian Designated Player scorched the back of the net for seven goals and he put together back-to-back two-goal performances in the same week on August 16 and 19 against the Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake.
