Life in the Swedish Allsvenskan began for 2009 as Kalmar FF
embarked on the focal objective of defending their title crown, despite an initial drawback as they
stranded a one-goal advantage to draw with Gefle IF.
After accomplishing their first championship in 2008, Kalmer travelled northwards to the city of
Gävle in pursuit of their title protection and Rasmus Elm, whose brother Victor and last season's
top goalscorer Patrik Ingelsten both departed for SC Heerenveen over the winter
months, ensured the season started to almost perfection by successfully converting a penalty on 29
minutes.
In a brief moment of clarity I once wrote that I will avoid making predictions because doing so
will eventually offer proof that I have no idea of what I'm talking about. While I was smart enough
to figure that much out on my own, I am unfortunately dumb enough to ignore my own advice.
The following entry will present my predictions for the fall season in Allsvenskan.
In a return of our tifo video series, we stop in Sweden to look at a beautifully choreographed
and executed tifo display by supporters of IFK Göteborg in a match against AIK (who we featured
just a month or two ago) earlier this season.
This two-tier display includes flag waving on the terrace above, with scarves held up across the
lower level below.
