In addition to FOX Soccer bidding us goodbye today after 15 years of Premier League coverage, it was the final day for ESPN's Ian Darke and Steve McManaman bringing us their Premier League matches.
Here's a video they did to say goodbye, which includes funny outtakes.
Darke and Macca will continue on at ESPN but will also work for BT Sport.
Ian Darke and Steve McManaman were announced this morning as two of the talents that BT Sport has hired to bring its Premier League coverage to viewers in the United Kingdom beginning with the 2013-14 season.
Darke and Darren Fletcher will commentate matches for BT Sport with co-commentator Michael Owen.
ESPN is pulling out all the stops for its coverage of the USA's World Cup qualifiers Friday against Costa Rica and Tuesday at Mexico.
The Mexico-USA telecast will feature a one-hour pre-game show originating live from Mexico City, marking the first time ESPN is airing a one-hour pre-game preceding a World Cup qualifying match.
Today, NBC confirmed reports that they have hired Arlo White as their primary play-by-play voice
for their brand-new Major League Soccer and U.S. Soccer coverage. As many of you know, White has
been the voice of Seattle Sounders FC, and ...

Earlier this week I received my review copy of Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of
ESPN, so the first thing I did was jump to the index to find any sections that deal with soccer.
Based on the directions that the index sent me in, and I should note the index seems a bit poor,
the book only focuses on soccer in the context of the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, which
isn't a bad thing, but it seems to leave out the World Wide Leader's dabbling with the Beautiful
Game during the bulk of its 31 years.
Nearly two weeks ago, ESPN made the announcement that they have hired Ian Darke to be their lead
soccer voice in the United States. Darke has been involved in broadcasting soccer for nearly 30
years, starting with BBC radio (also covering boxing and athletics) before making the move into pay
TV in 1992.
Martin Tyler will return to ESPN for the next World Cup where he'll be commentating World Cup
2014, says the Associated Press.
It's quite an incredible achievement to secure Martin Tyler for two World Cup tournaments in a
row. The man is hands down the best soccer commentator in the world.
ESPN's coverage of the 2010 World Cup has been spectacular. But if I must be honest, some of the
commentators are beginning to get on my nerves. It's normal, I guess – especially after you
consider how many hours we've spent listening to these commentators since the tournament began on
June 11.
"Sorry that you feel that wayThe only thing there is to sayEvery silver lining's got aTouch of
grey" -- Grateful Dead, "Touch of Grey" from "In the Dark" LP. Let's not pull any punches. Through
the first 16 matches -- one matchday per group -- the 2010 World Cup has left me, if not everyone
Stateside, yawning.
It seems the planning, preparation and excitement for the World Cup is hitting it's full stride
as of late as we enter into the last two weeks of the Premier League season. In addition to more
exciting news from EPL Talk to come soon, ESPN just released it's World Cup guide on sale
everywhere for $9.
ESPN today announced the lead commentators for its coverage of the 2010 World Cup. The lead
commentators will be Martin Tyler, Ian Darke, Derek Rae and Adrian Healey.
In all, ESPN will employ four teams to cover all 64 tournament games live from South Africa
between June 11 and July 11, 2010.
Christmas has arrived early thanks to Fox Soccer Channel with the exclusive news that the
knockout stages of the Champions League on FSC and FSN, as well as the final on FX, will feature
the two-person commentary teams from Sky Sports instead of the UEFA/international commentary
teams.
Some of you observant Fox Soccer Channel viewers may have noticed that Martin Tyler and Andy
Gray commentated the Wolfsburg against Manchester United game earlier this week, while Alan Parry
and Don Goodman were behind the mics for the Olympiakos against Arsenal match.
University of Delaware upset No. 20 ranked University of Virginia with a 1–0 double overtime
win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday night. Sophomore John Dineen headed the
winner with 4:14 remaining the the second overtime period.
By Puck Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome back into the Happy Hour. It's been two weeks since the
traumatic Gold Cup Final, and I have finally begun to come to terms with what took place. Yes, it
was not the result we wanted, but it is certainly not the end of the USMNT as we know [...]
Yeah... that was a nice moment.Almost lost in all the run-up to the Gold Cup Final on Saturday
versus Mexico is the fact that today is the one-year anniversary of LD's epic last minute (second?)
goal against Algeria to propel the USMNT to the top of the group and the knock-out rounds of the
2010 World Cup.
By Puck, writing from Rochester, New York Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome back into another Happy
Hour. Hopefully, last week's Sad Edition of the HH did not keep you up at night. Unfortunately, I
did catch a lot of shit via Twitter regarding my Gooch is Dead piece. Clearly, the entire post
should have been taken as satiric, but apparently some people do not have a sense of humor.
"Who are these F--in' guys?" -- Clevelanders during an opening Spring Training Montage in 1989
cinematic gem, "Major League."Before delving into Wednesday's USMNT friendly in South Africa for
the Nelson Mandela Challenge Cup, a moment's thought on FIFA.Votes for sale? Fake sting interviews?
Qatar possibly hosting the 2022 World Cup?
I can't remember the first time I listened the Men In Blazers podcast. The show launched in 2011, but I do remember laughing out loud on my first listen and instantly forming a bond with co-hosts Roger Bennett and Michael Davies. Their show is a journey through the Premier League complete with humor, prose and endearing stories.
By Puck Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome back into the Happy Hour. What a week it has been for soccer
fans across the country. If you are one of the seven people left in the US not paying attention to
the Women's World Cup, there is still plenty of room left on the bandwagon; jump on [...]
