The race for the Bundesliga title is hotting up, with a number of teams in close proximity and
fighting for superiority. Last season's winners Borussia Dortmund have put an inconsistent start
behind them, and Stuttgart have rekindled some of the form that saw them win the league five years
ago.
Oh God! What does one say after a game like that. Great fighting spirit and a gritty display for
a well-earned away point at a difficult venue? Terrible performance that shows the Gunners just
aren't good enough anymore? I guess it depends on one's mentality and the spin that suits it. As
mentioned in the preview, I wasn't expecting a win but a more assured performance would have been
encouraging for the future.
Song gives the thumbs up for this return
Champions League returns. Not the rubbish play-off but the actual proper group stage. One that
we are participating in the 14th consecutive season. That is one hell of a record of consistently
being one of the top teams in Europe. I won't argue if you say that the re-branded top European
competition now extends to non champions of individual leagues as well.
We love when 'ballers and their respective WAGs appear between the pages of our must read mags,
and in the case of Mats Hummels and Cathy Fischer, we're absolutely delighted to see how these
lovebirds have banded together to block invasive camera lenses for the sake of 'fashion' in this
month's German GQ.

The Borussia Dortmund man has been widely praised for his skills on the pitch and, judging by
this photo shoot and his smoldering gazes, he'll be receiving a different kind of praise soon
enough.
4-1-4-1 accommodates Germany's attacking options and underlines Germany's defensive weaknesses.
If Jogi Löw considers 4-1-4-1 his formation of choice for next year's Euros, then he has a lot of
work to do, to get the balance between offense and defense right. It's perfect for high scoring
friendlies and against smaller teams though.
Juergen Klinsmann raised a whole lot of eyebrows on August 25th when he announced 23 year old
Fabian Johnson would be included in the 23 man squad to play Costa Rica. Who is Fabian Johnson?
He's a holding midfielder/ central defender for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and his US national switch
is possible because of his parentage; father is American while his mother is German.
Despite breaking all of our rules regarding overuse of product and/or not combing one's hair after
sleeping on it for fifteen hours, Mats Hummels is still causing us the occasional loin spasm.
Weird, huh? DIETER NAGL/AFP/Getty Images.
Borussia Dortmund has dominated the Bundesliga this season. Back in January Dortmund had a
staggering 12 point lead, and while they let that impressive lead slip a little, they've now
mathematically won the title with two game days to spare. While their 2-0 win over Nürnberg was
important, it was second placed Bayer Leverkusen's 2-0 loss to FC Köln which helped seal the
Bundesliga for Klopp's players.

Only one team were ever going to win this season's Bundesliga, as Jurgen Klopp's surprise
package Borussia Dortmund have impressed from day one with their attacking and free-flowing style
of football, reminiscent of the 1997 side that were crowned European Champions. With the league
title all but in the bag and BVB set to compete in Europe's top club compeition next season for the
first time since 2002, can the German side turn the clock back 15 years and emulate Ottmar
Hitzfeld's star-studded side?
I can't overstate how busy I truly am, so here's just a few points about tomorrow's friendly
against Australia. The match will kick off in Mönchengladbach at 2:45 PM EST (8:45 PM CET). The
match will be available for streaming live on ESPN3 and on a delay on ESPN Deportes at 4:45 PM
(Spain's EQ takes precedence).
Der Spitzenreiter gegen den Rekord-Meister, Borussia Dortmund gegen Bayern München – so
lautete die Konstellation des gestrigen Top-Spiels am 24. Spieltag. 18 Mal konnte Dortmund zuletzt
nicht mehr in München gewinnen, nun sollte es endlich wieder mit einem Erfolg klappen. Und dieses
Spiel hielt auch, was es versprach.
