Manchester City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to a convincing
3-0 win at home over Fulham.
Heading into the Fulham match a lot of questions were being asked about a City side that had
lost four of their eight matches in 2012, exiting the FA and League Cups and seeing Manchester
United draw level with them on points at the top of the Premier League.

Enaut to know better This goalkeeping howler was arguably the least of Real Sociedad's worries as
they lost 6-1 to Mallorca last night. But it's funny nonetheless. You know the routine made famous
by Shay Given by know: goalkeeper thinks his penalty area is clear, drops the ball to the ground,
and elusive [.
Aw, everyone was so much happier when Phil Jones was scoring at the right end. But this little GIF
mash-up gives us some insight as to what it might look like if Fergie could see the funny side of
Jones' howler (like the rest of us).
Manchester United missed out on the chance to begin the new year on top of the Premier League
after suffering a shock 3-2 defeat at home against Blackburn Rovers.
Sir Alex Ferguson turned 70 today but it was a birthday the United manager will want to forget
after witnessing his side rally from 2-0 down only to lose to Grant Hanley's late winner.
The holiday schedule always throws up upsets and today was no exception as both Manchester
United and Chelsea lost at home.
United was maybe the biggest surprise of the season as they lost 3-2 at home to Blackburn
Rovers, on what was Sir Alex Ferguson turned 70th birthday.
United missed a great chance to go top of the league and Blackburn fully deserved the win.

Manchester United face Wigan, Manchester City face West Brom, Liverpool face Blackburn, Chelsea
face Fulham. Four of the strongest teams in the land, all apart from Manchester City are at home,
against three of the weakest travelling teams in the country and the other, West Brom, with a
dismal home record.
It doesn't happen often, but when Pepe Reina makes a mistake, it usually ends in an opposition
goal, and his howler at Craven Cottage on Monday night unfortunately handed Fulham victory, and
ended Liverpool's 11 game unbeaten run. Liverpool now have to pick themselves up, and according to
Assistant Manager Steve Clarke, Reina's confidence won't be affected.
Basel faulty Hot on the heels of but not quite as severe as Vito Mannone's howler, Manchester
United goalkeeper David De Gea got in on the act with his own bout of memory loss. De Gea also
forgot that as a goalkeeper he is entitled to catch, punch or stroke the ball when [...]

Goalie FAIL Anderlecht goalkeeper Silvio Proto suffered a horrendous error against Zulte-Waregem at
the weekend. His howler was only slightly worse than the initial shot. We would tell you just how
bad it was, but Proto's already done that in considerable detail. He said: "This is the biggest
blunder of my career.
Chelsea square off with Liverpool for the second time in ten days, at The Bridge no less. Can
the result be better than the first go around? I don't see why not- with both sides expected to
send out younger squads for the rubber match, everything is up in the air. More, after the
jump:
All to play for
While we may have exorcised the demons of lore this weekend, we're still not out of the
woods.
Well that was no fun. Despite outplaying Fulham, luck was not on our side today, and we dropped two
important points at home. Credit goes to Schwarzer in particular for keeping them in it, while
RvP's prowess around the goal finally let him down today. Vermaelen was the goat for his howler of
an own goal, but he gained a measure of redemption with a header to level things late.
United's U18s are in action again tomorrow as they take on Liverpool in the Premier Academy League.
It's been six weeks since the reverse fixture saw Adam Morgan and Matty Regan grab the goals in a
2-1 win for Liverpool. Ex-Liverpool academy goalkeeper Liam Jacob made a howler that gifted Regan a
simple header that [.
CARSON, Calif. -- Funny thing about the prediction and prognostication game when it comes to big
games:
It's a bit like the weather; stick around long enough, and the prevailing winds will change.
Earlier this week, conventional wisdom said Sunday's biggie inside the Home Depot Center would
be an old-fashioned romp-and-stomp.
Manchester United were in action at the Liberty Stadium yesterday and for the third league game on
the spin it finished up one-nil to the champions. Javier Hernandez grabbed another poachers goal
just ten minutes into the game with help from Ryan Giggs and a howler of a mistake by Angel Rangel,
who gifted United's midfield veteran possession on the edge of the Swansea penalty area.
Swansea should have grabbed at least a draw against Champions Manchester United yesterday
evening, first Angel Rangel gifted Ryan Giggs the ball to set up Javier Hernandez for the only goal
of the game and then Scott Sinclair made a howler when letting the ball through his legs when in
front of an empty net.

Spain are in meltdown! Del Bosque out! Well, not really. Although you wouldn't put that kind of
reaction past the UK tabloids if it were England.
The world champions found themselves two goals down in their friendly in Costa Rica, with
Arsenal striker Joel Campbell, currently on loan in France, netting a superb second.
Spain's poor form in friendlies continued Tuesday when they needed a stoppage-time goal from
David Villa ij order to get a 2-2 draw at Costa Rica.
Spain fell behind after an uncharacteristic howler from captain Iker Casillas. The Real Madrid
goalkeeper miscontrolled the ball near the edge of the penalty area just after the half hour,
allowing Randall Brenes to lift the ball into the empty net.
Butterfingers Wales let Norway back into their friendly clash this afternoon after a howler from
Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey. Collecting a simple ball into the box, Hennessey fumbled the ball
forwards into the shins of defender Darcy Blake. Norway's Eric Huseklepp was left with the simple
task of tapping the ball into the empty net.

What a weekend of football that was! But before we turn attention to the action this midweek
(and beyond), it's time to decide on the worst miss of the weekend.
Here are two contenders...
1. Bobby Zamora v Everton
Not long after this howler the Toffees went up the other end and scored a couple of goals,
making the miss all the more painful for Fulham fans, players and one Bobby Zamora in
particular.
Late October is a funny time of year. Your first or second favourite club is now in full swing
across the ocean, while your second or first favourite club is wrapping up their season with a game
steeped in frivolity and mediocrity. Toronto closes out their season against a side who was
eliminated from the post-season sometime in mid-July.

We got an awful lot of requests flooding in for this howler to get a mention on Pies after Paul
Heffernan's horror miss from the same game got a nod so, due to popular demand and for your viewing
pleasure, here's Celtic striker Anthony Stokes' ridiculously rubbish miss from all of 40cm against
Kilmarnock at the weekend.
Rather later than planned, here are the ups and downs from the Premiership this week
Going Up...
Robin Van PersieSo the glass man has entered the records books at Arsenal with a ton of goals to his name, both of
which were sublime finishes. Its a shame that his injury record is so poor or else he would be in a
position where he could play for one of the best teams in Europe (muhaha).

"Christ! Is that you again Nando? I told you, not in public!"
Chelsea travel to Spain to take on Valencia in the Champions League tonight, a game that will
see, among other things, Juan Mata return to Los Che in Chelsea blue for the first time after
spending the last four seasons making his name at Los Che and a healthy dose of 'God knows
what?

Voices floating over Hadrian's Wall after Sunday's Old Firm derby sounded curiously, positive.
Curiously positive in the sense that, with so much about Scottish football being accompanied by the
sound of a death knell of late, hearing something good about two SPL clubs struck a more upbeat
note. Rangers and Celtic gave those in attendance at Ibrox, along with those watching abroad, a
fierce display of quality football for the majority of the ninety minutes, showcasing much of the
skill and drama that draws us to this game.
Failing to score an open net in Chelsea's last match against Manchester United, grows again
people's doubt on Fernando Torres' ability to regain his old form considering that the miss chance
could always dropped the striker's confidence once again.
However, that theory is being disagreed by the Blues' main goalie, Peter Cech, who urged people
to refer their judgment more on the performance that Torred did against United instead of the bad
finishing he made.
Fernando Torres finally broke his 23 game scoring drought yesterday at Old Trafford, but the
ecstacy quickly turned to agony for the former Liverpool striker, with a stunning miss that must
surely rank amongst the worst of all time. It's hard to understand how Torres missed this sitter:One
thing is for certain - Chelsea's 'slow' midfield had nothing to do with this howler.

We'll have more on the game later this morning, but for the two of you who haven't seen it yet
here's poor old Fernando Torres (who, to be fair, had already scored a lovely goal to get Chelsea
off the mark at 3-1) and his woeful, caricature-bolstering open goal howler at Old Trafford
yesterday.
For those of you who do not know Ray Hudson, he is the color man on GolTV's American broadcast
of La Liga matches. To put it bluntly he is out of control, bat-shit crazy. A Geordie by blood,
Hudson plied his trade with Newcastle in the 1970′s before moving to the NASL for the rest of his
career.
szólj hozzá: Ars 1-0 Swe
There are two ways of looking at this victory. The first and most practical one is that three
points have been secured. However the perspective that this was not a victory as much as it was a
gift is equally valid. That being said, Arsenal is a club in desperate need of cashing in those
gift cards.
Looking for accommodation? There's a vacancy between those ears
Robbie Savage, genius and clairvoyant extraordinaire, gets Arsenal new signing, Per Mertesacker,
all confused with national team mate Christoph Metzelder. This happened a week ago in his BBC show
606 and many have pointed out the howler but it still holds good because Savage cannot be savaged
enough.
Chelsea took the lead within five minutes.Jose Bosingwa scored from about 25 yards out. Norwich
equalised in the second half thanks to the first Hilario howler of the new season.Chelsea then lost
Didier Drogba. He was knocked unconscious after getting what looked like a blow to the temple from
the Norwich goalkeeper as he went in to try and head a ball goalwards.
I'm ready to make a Real Betis knock-off but it cannot be anywhere as entertaining as this
one...
Hey kids, you realize that our beloved Robins are in the midst of a 4 game unbeaten streak? Sure,
two of those matches were against the sub-NASL calibre Real Esteli and won both, but in a season
polluted with bad news (DeRo leaving) and worse news (I thought YOU were supposed to be centre back
tonight?
