Maybe it's just happening when I'm watching, but based on my (unscientific observations) it seems that NBC has made an attempt to devote a little more time to coverage of the 2011 MLS Cup, which takes place at 8:00 pm central time on Sunday. In light of the news that NBC Universal has obtained a broadcast rights package for MLS matches starting with the 2012 season, it isn't surprising that NBC stations and programs have given airtime to the 2011 MLS Cup.

Almost 6,000 people showed up at Lockhart Stadium this Wednesday despite the rain and conflicting U2 concert. It's all because our most hated rival came to town. FC Tampa Bay (aka Rowdies) came into South Florida in search of points and unfortunately they took one point with them.
The Strikers dominated this game with an incredible 24 shots of which only 6 were on goal.

In a match of limited opportunities, Clint Dempsey made his one chance count, scoring from close range after a fantastic set-up from Landon Donovan and Freddy Adu in the 77th minute. Dempsey's goal would be all the U.S. needed to defeat Panama 1-0 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas and advance to the CONCACAF Gold Cup Final on Saturday.

It's safe to say that Johnny Jolly will never play in the NFL again. In fact, Jolly may never be a free man again. The defensive end for the Green Bay Packers was arrested on Friday for having more than 400 grams of codeine when he was pulled over by a cop on a traffic stop. On Wednesday, a judge denied him bond, which means Jolly will have to stay in jail until at least April 20th.
