Fireworks are expected on Sunday when Premier League leaders Chelsea host second-placed Manchester
United at Stamford Bridge. Elsewhere, Phil Brown is under pressure for his Hull City side to pick
up a positive result against Stoke City, in-form Arsenal travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers,

Chelsea-Manchester United
First off wowsers!  When we say this weekend is a big match we don't exaggerate (like some
other weeks) as number one hosts number two in this fight for the top spot. These two clubs have
passed off the honor of being the Premier League's best week by week and this week seems to be the
match where we will find out which team truly is the better squad.

It has been confirmed that
Man United will compensate
Barnsley after some United
ransacked the kiosks and threatened the young teenage (mainly female) staff. It has been estimated
that the ‘fans' caused £10,000 worth of damage.
United did win the match 2-0 and now hopefully things are all sorted and United can concentrate on
beating Tottenham Hotspur in the next round.

In the intro to every Premier League game that ESPN2 shows on Saturday mornings, they begin with
a graphic of the world and then zoom in on England and directly to the home ground where the match
is played. It's a brilliant sequence, but they goofed this past Saturday when instead of zooming in
on the Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal Football Club, they zoomed in on the Arsenal Stadium,
better known as Highbury.

It's the FA Cup First Round this weekend so, in the first of five pieces about the Oldest
Cup Competition In The World (and there's a phrase that is probably copyrighted by The FA), we take
a look back at Wycombe Wanderers' run to the semi-finals of the competition in 2001.
The FA Cup is a competition that throws up surprise results every season, but some records
remain and one that may never be broken is that no-one from the bottom two divisions of the
Football League has made The FA Cup final.

Tottenham Hotspur revealed plans for a 56,000-seat rebuilding of White Hart Lane this week. An
undoubted step forward for Spurs, even if the undulating roof-line is a little unoriginal and
redolent of Arsenal's new gaff down the Seven Sisters road.
Ashburton Grove's extra capacity means Arsenal are coining in £3million per game, a revenue stream
Spurs at present can only dream of matching.

a trip down memory lane. This week: we go back 56 years, to the first ever floodlight match at
Tottenham Hotspur's White Hart lane, with the programme's cover promising Spurs were in for "very
attractive visitors" and "very sporting opponents" with the visit of Racing Club de Paris.

Score-lines from the weekend's football included a 2-2 draw between West Ham and Arsenal at Upton
Park, ahead of Arsenal's rather more bitter London derby this weekend against Tottenham Hotspur.
Chelsea trounced Blackburn Rovers 5-0 after a defeat against Aston Villa the week before which
keeps them out in front, though in a rather less spectacular points lead.

My first day in Buenos Aires turned out to be the day of the superclasico, even though I
scheduled it months before the schedule came out. Fate? Perhaps. Unfortunately, fate also worked to
have me arrive too late to attend the match. Fate can be fickle. Because of the fickle finger of
fate, the only picture I have is a blurry one of a television screen showing the end of the match
in a café in Buenos Aires.

It was a crazy week in European club soccer with the top three clubs all getting upended at key
points. The fourth didn't do much better, drawing a Champions League encounter at home. So who was
left to take over the top spot? Or would we forgive one of the top four's transgressions? Read on

Tottenham Hotspur did not play particularly well against Stoke City, but we played well enough to
win. Whilst readily acknowledging our opponents' sterling defensive qualities and admirable
teamwork, we dominated for long periods and should have put this one to bed long before Whelan's
late winner. A bright start showcased Huddlestone's long range passing, spreading the [.

A look at the winners and losers after week nine of the Premier League.
Winners
Manchester United
If the mark of a champion is winning when not playing well then Manchester United are in line to
win another Premier title. That United are top of the Premier League while struggling in all but
two of their nine league fixtures since August shows that they have the heart of a champion.

Not so much a game of two halves as a game of two thirds and a third third. We seemed to be
cruising serenely after an hour or so – but then that wouldn't be the Tottenham way, would it?
Cue a wild thump of the self-destruct button, the halving of our lead and a daft sending off. The
three points were eventually achieved in slightly nerve-jangling, harum-scarum style.

Can it get any worse for Liverpool? The club played one of their worst first-half performances
against Fiorentina in the Champions League a few weeks ago and lost 2-0, which was followed by a
very unconvincing display in the 2-0 loss against Chelsea. In addition, the club has already lost
to Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur in the league.

This week's featured video is a full length episode of TVS's "The Saturday Match" from April
1983. The main match is a critical match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur from
The Goldstone Ground. Brighton were bottom of the First Division and without a home a league win
since the previous December, but they were still in the FA Cup, and could have been forgiven for
having one eye on their upcoming semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday.
