In a week where Alan Pardew has been linked with managing England, the Newcastle boss takes his
side to Tottenham Hotspur as they aim to continue their odds-defying season. Following Fabio
Capello's resignation from the national set-up on Wednesday...

We'll get some idea about how good Newcastle are against one of the top English sides tomorrow
afternoon when the lads take on Tottenham Hotspur in London. Papiss Cisse and Alan Pardew
during training yesterday But with a number of players missing, including Cheick Tiote, Yohan
Cabaye, Leon Best and Ryan Taylor, Newcastle will not be at their strongest, at least not in
central midfield.
Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson is aware that Tottenham Hotspur's terrific form
throughout the season indicates their prowess, particularly at White Hart Lane.
Following Monday night's goalless draw at Anfield, third-place Spurs return home and with
manager Harry Redknapp cleared of tax evasion charges, the North London outfit will be completely
focused on picking up all three points in Saturday's late kick-off.
Newcastle have a tough game in London on Saturday as they will go up against 3rd placed
Tottenham Hotspur, who have 50 points from their 24 league games. Papiss Cisse scores first goal
ever for Newcastle And Tottenham have only lost one game very early in the season at White Hart
Lane, when Manchester City took them apart 5-1.
What? ... No i'm not bloody offside! Meow...Liverpool fought hard
on Monday night in an attempt to take three points from Tottenham Hotspur but with no goals from
either side the highlight of the game ended up going to a little mischievous cat. The Reds played
well but just couldn't find a goal as Spurs showed some staunch defending.
UEFA Power Rankings 7 February 2012 - The 90th Minute Soccer Blog
Below are my weekly power rankings for the top (8) clubs teams in UEFA. These rankings are a
combination of their play in domestic and UEFA competitions.
The rankings haven't changed from the last (late January) as the top three remain the same.

It has been one hell of a busy fortnight in the world of Tottenham Hotspur – and not a whisper of
any of it from The Boys From White Hart Lane. For shame.
So, in a desperate attempt to catch up - and stay relevant – TBFWHL is taking a look back at 14
days in which Spurs stumbled into the fifth round of the FA Cup, re-entered the title race after a
brief remission and brought in a couple of battle-hardened veterans at the expense of a cult hero.
THFC1882 presents guest writer Kenny Palmer's report of Tottenham Hotspur
versus Wigan:
A man of the match performance by Gareth Bale against obliging opponents Wigan helped reignite
Spurs title challenge, as they now sit just five points behind the Manchester clubs following the
leaders City's defeat to Everton.
Following the conclusion of a loan deal to send full-back Vedran Corluka to Bayer Leverkusen for
the remainder of the season, Tottenham Hotspur are set to live up to their expectations of making
significant moves at the eleventh hour.
The 25-year old Corluka's work ethic has been consistently praised by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp
but the Croatia international's playing time was limited this season by the emergence of youngster
Kyle Walker.
THFC1882 welcomes back guest writer Kenny Palmer with a preview of Tottenham
Hotspur versus Wigan.
A week is a long time in football, as Spurs two contrasting performances highlighted. Heroic in
defeat against Manchester City earning plaudits for the character they showed in coming back from
2-0 down to level the scores before losing to an injury time penalty.
A brilliant Rafael Van der Vaart strike guided Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-0 win at Watford while
Marouane Fellaini's decisive second-half goal saw off Fulham in Friday's all-Premier League FA Cup
Fourth Round clash at Goodison Park.
Van der Vaart struck right before half-time from 30-yards out to stun Vicarage Road and give the
Spurs a slender advantage that the hosts were not able to overturn.
Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks tasted Premier League football last season with the Tangerines and
now the shotstopper is looking for his side to make a swift return to the top flight.
The Seasiders sit just one point off the play-off places in the Championship table in seventh spot,
in what has once again been a very competitive league this term with any side capable of getting a
result in any game.
Tottenham Hotspur is planning a three-city US tour this summer, says a report in Sports Business
Journal. Baltimore and Los Angeles are two of the cities poised to host the games, while the third
city has not yet been determined. ...

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has refused to get carried away with suggestions that the
club won't qualify for the Champions League next season, pointing to the forthcoming return of
midfielder Jack Wilshere and right-back Bacary Sagna as a major boost.
The Gunners trail fourth-place Chelsea by five points and third-place Tottenham Hotspur by
another five, leaving Arsene Wenger's side with much work to do in the four months ahead.
Liverpool face off against Manchester City on Wednesday evening in the second leg of the Carling
Cup semi final. Liverpool lead the affair 1-0 but with at least 90 minutes still to play the tie is
obviously very delicately poised. The second leg will take place at Anfield and with the home crowd
roaring them on Liverpool will consider themselves favourite and the more likely of the two teams
to succeed.

Philadelphia, according to an English soccer reporter.

Manchester City could be without striker Mario Balotelli for four games after he was charged with
violent conduct by the Football Association.
The controversial Italian appeared to stamp on Scott Parker's head during City's dramatic 3-2 win
over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and despite the incident going unpunished at the time, has been
charged retrospectively.

There is a long way to go in the Premier League title race, but the battle between Manchester and
north London this weekend could prove pivotal.
Top plays third and fifth plays second as competition at the top hots up. Manchester City put their
100 per cent home record on the line when they take on Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, while
cross-city rivals Manchester United travel to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal just hours
later.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric firmly believes that his side can win away to league
leaders Manchester City this Sunday despite the hosts having a perfect record at the Eastlands this
season.
Modric, who endured a shaky start to the campaign due to being distracted by a potential move to
Chelsea, has rediscovered his form of late and after scoring in the Spurs' 1-1 draw against Wolves,
he is approaching the clash with City with a strong mindset.
Since the transfer window was brought into effect by FIFA during the 2002/03 season, football fans
throughout the UK have been glued to their televisions, computer screens and mobile phones, hoping
for news of a blockbuster signing that will transform the fortunes of their club. With the clock
ticking, cash-rich football clubs approach the looming [.

We've come across some potentially juicy stuff relating to the new coupling of Kevin-Prince
Boateng and Melissa Satta, most of which you'll want to read and judge for yourselves.
There's both facts and falsehoods to sift through here, so a bulleted list it is.
The Backstory
- K-P married his long term girlfriend, Jennifer, two days after signing with Tottenham Hotspur
in '07.
Any hopes we had of tiptoeing under the radar were swiftly punted into the Thames on Wednesday
evening after every man and his lame dog in the days following declared Tottenham of Hotspur as
genuine title contenders™. Alan Hansen, David Platt, S'ralex- even our own
Heemskerk Howitzer, Rafael Van der Vaart, has pitched his tent in the side of ‘why the heck
not'.
Some more transfer news today with Darron Gibson leaving Man United and joining Everton for an
incredibly low fee of £1million, possibly rising to £2million based on appearances. Gibson was
told that he was free to leave after Paul Scholes came out of retirement, and I feel he'll be a
great addition to Everton.

The FA Cup has lost some of its prestige with the rise of the Premier League but Sunday's clash
between Manchester United and Manchester City was a glimpse at the drama knockout competitions can
provide in a 3-2 win for United.
United were up by three goals before halftime thanks to two goals from Wayne Rooney and a
stunning strike from Danny Welbeck.
THFC1882 returns from it's Christmas and New Year break. Whilst we were off,
Tottenham Hotspur collected 7 points from Norwich, Swansea and West Brom, happy days. Today, the FA
Cup 3rd round was the focus and we have a special guest reporter for you. Here's Danny
Carrier from the Camden New Journal with his report:
This was the chance for Harry Redknapp's fringe players to step up to the plate and show what
they could do as well as give Michael Dawson and Aaron Lennon some much needed game time to get
their match fitness back.
Mirror: Tottenham v Everton tickets up for grabs
Mirror Football has teamed up with Thomas Cook Sport, official travel partner of Tottenham
Hotspur, to offer five lucky fans the chance to win a pair of tickets to their midweek match
against Everton on Wednesday 11th January 2012.
Tally-ho and merry new beginnings to you all! What grander way to spend those final few hours of
the year 2011 than in unchartered, unfamiliar and altogether more foreign waters. Swan infested
waters, you might say?
Hmm?
*silence*
Oh alright, maybe not- but there's no need to look at me like that.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish declared that football required specific guidelines about what
language was considered racist, at the end of a week in which his striker Luis Suarez has been
dealt an eight-game ban and his former team-mate Alan Hansen has been engulfed in controversy over
his use of the word "coloured.
This isn't going to be overly analytical of the game, THFC1882 is about to go
on it's Christmas holidays! Before that though we take a brief look at Tottenham Hotspur versus
Chelsea from The Lane.
On the balance of play both sides will have been satisfied with a point.

The original plan was to head down to Cheltenham to catch up with a mate of mine Colin Buchanan and
watch a game within an hour's drive of his house, but Cheltenham Town were handed a plum FA Cup 3rd
Round tie @ Tottenham Hotspur on January 7th and we have arranged to meet up then.
Liverpool are rumoured to be considering a January move for out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur
midfielder Tom Huddlestone.
According to reports on Footybunker.com, Liverpool is desperate to sign a replacement for the
injured Lucas Leiva, who will miss the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament
injury.
Tottenham Hotspur went to the Tallaght stadium needing a Lyon type turnaround to make it through
to the knock-out rounds. From his team selection, including only choosing four subs, it appeared
that Harry Redknapp wasn't really counting on the results going Spurs way.
As the game got started it was clear that Shamrock would try hard and run around a lot.
In an era of Galácticos, oil ball, and 300,000-a-week wages, it's easy to view football as a
revolution. When something is wrong, blow it up and start over. Avram Grant not working out? Try
Ancelotti. Ancelotti not the ticket? Go for AVB. If Ronaldo and Kaka aren't enough to be beat
Barcelona, maybe Ronaldo, Kaka and The Special One will be.
