Se disputa en Nigeria el 13er Campeonato Mundial Sub 17 de la FIFA (Sub 16 hasta 1991). Nigeria es, precisamente, el último campeón y el país que comparte con Brasil el podio de la categortía, con tres copas cada uno.

Big Two in Final 16 of U-17s

The group phase of the U-17 World Cup is now over, and Mexico and the USA are the only two CONCACAF sides in the knockout stages. USA defeated UAE 1-0 on Sunday to finish second in their group, while Mexico beat Japan 2-0 on Friday to finish second in Group B. Honduras play well, still lose at U-17 Worlds

For the second game in a row, Honduras held their own at the U-17 World Championships in Nigeria. Unfortunately, for the second time in a row they lost, this time to the host team by the minimum. An uneven start for CONCACAF at U-17 Worlds

The U-17 World Cup kicked off in Nigeria yesterday, and while three of the four CONCACAF sides gave creditable performances, only Costa Rica managed to win points. (USA play tomorrow against Spain.) But there were forty years in the wilderness before the US qualified for the 1990 World Cup when Paul Caliguiri in the grandiloquent "The Shot Heard Around The World" scored against T&T to put the US through.
