For a guy who had a tough time finding the pitch for Manchester United, Darron Gibson certainly
helped his former employer on Tuesday. His 19-yard deflected strike beat Joe Hart at the hour mark,
and Everton earned the home victory ...

African Cup of
Nations (Group C), Gabon vs Tunisia (1pmET, Al-Jazeera Sports / Eurosport
International):Tunisia and tournament co-host Gabon both won their first two group games and hence
will advance to the final eight (while the other two teams in the group, Niger and disappointing
Morocco, will go home).
Daniel Agger is feeling great after Liverpool's back-to-back Cup wins against Manchester
opponents to knock City out of the Carling Cup and United out of the FA Cup but believes that there
is plenty of improvement needed ahead.
Agger has always been a vocal critic of the Reds' struggles in recent years and thus, it comes
as no surprise that despite scoring a brilliant headed goal to open the scoring in the 2-1 home
victory over United, he is not satisfied.

Alive in four out of four competitions! Bravo Les Gones!
A potential rearranging of top league table spots is on the cards this weekend. Six of the top
seven teams go head-to-head against each other PSG vs.
Manchester City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League as first-half goals
from Sergio Agüero and Yaya Touré paved the way for a comfortable home victory against
Liverpool.
Roberto Mancini Talking After The Match
Roberto Mancini's side were in a mini-slump after taken only one point from their two away
previous games, but they are a different side at home, dropping only two points at home in the
league in all of 2011.

There are not many games on New Years Eve Eve, and I would advise to stay away from a home victory
at Anfield. Liverpool may have not lost at home this season, but with Andy Carroll the principal
striking option available, I would rather eat more turkey. Instead bet on Southampton to beat
Bristol City [.

Liverpool have been massively unlucky in an awful lot of matches, but this one's going to take some
beating. Another terrible, horrible, no good, very bad home draw in a season already chock-full of
them.
Blackburn had exactly one chance, from Dunn in the 79th, on the break and spoiled by his own
teammate.
Manchester United face Wigan, Manchester City face West Brom, Liverpool face Blackburn, Chelsea
face Fulham. Four of the strongest teams in the land, all apart from Manchester City are at home,
against three of the weakest travelling teams in the country and the other, West Brom, with a
dismal home record.

Each week during the season I'll post an updated MISL Power Ranking which will be based off the
cumulative results and current strength of each team. Here's my rankings heading into Week 8.
#1 Milwaukee Wave (7-0, 1st Place MISL Central Division)Milwaukee turned in another strong performance this past weekend in their 15-4 victory over the
Wichita Wings.
Sunday night Roma won the Derby del Sole at the San Paolo beating Napoli 3-1. Inter Milan won away
at Cesena, Juventus' brilliant start to the season continues and AC Milan won at home to Siena
Saturday evening, looks like the traditional top four of Italian Serie A are back as the lead pack.
Saturday 17th December Three games on Saturday night; the first was Chievo with a home victory
over.
Tomorrow we will know the future of Chelsea FC in the UEFA Champions League and , probably,
the future of Portuguese manager Andres Villas Boas in the bench of the sout-west London club. The
"Blues" has the chance to qualify to the knock out of the most important tournament for European
clubs, as they will play at Stamford Bridge in front of their supporters, but an easy qualification
is not to be taken for granted.

Editor's note: At the end of the 2010 season, we posted a series of season reviews of every
Philadelphia Union player. Over the next several weeks PSP continues with a review of the 2011
season.
In the Philadelphia Union's signature win of 2011, a 1-0 home victory over the New York Red
Bulls, praise was deservedly lavished on the two second half substitutes who combined for the
winning tally.

A wild weekend that included several major upsets concluded Sunday night in Mexico, where the
four semifinal places in the Apertura playoffs were set.
Chivas de Guadalajara, despite finishing first in the regular season standings, could not
overturn the deficit from their shocking 2-1 loss to Queretaro from last week.
2011 was a season to remember for HJK. Not only did ‘Klubi' won their third consecutive title
and the Finnish Cup (overall their 24th league championship and 11th cup victory), but they did
this in a swashbuckling fashion. The Helsinki team finished the season with a 24-point lead to
second-place Inter and scored a whopping 86 goals in 33 matches while conceding only 23.
Croatia, or formerly known as Yugoslavia, have been quite a force in the history of the World Cup
and the European Cup respectively. Although they have never quite made it to a final, they still
remain to be a team of which other national sides fear. In the qualification group stages Croatia
– nicknamed The Blazers – finished 2nd in Group F narrowly missing out on 1st position by a
mere 2 points.
QPR 2-3 Manchester City: The Thriller in Hammersmith - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Manchester City continued their illustrious and table topping start to the English Premier
League season with a 3-2 away win at Loftus Road against newly promoted Queens Park Rangers.
In truth, the scoreline flattered the travelling Manchester club as QPR fought tooth and nail
with City and nearly upset a top four side for their second consecutive home match when they
defeated Chelsea.

West Brom come to Villa Park in a fixture we haven't lost since 1979. Our record from the last
10 times we played the Baggies in the league is six wins and four draws.
Roy Hodgson's side picked up their second win of the season last weekend, a 2-0 home victory
against the hapless Wolves. We're trying to put a comprehensive loss at the hands of Man City
behind us, Alex McLeish threatening to drop any players who put in lacklustre defensive
displays.
The first game of the weekend is nearly upon in Florence where Fiorentina will take on a resurgent
Catania side. After a slow start to their season southerners Catania have achieved noticeable
results especially the brilliant 2-1 home victory over Inter Milan last Saturday. Obviously
manager Vincenzo Montella will be looking to have his squad continue their run by shooting for
another victory in.

Who's afraid of the big bad Fifa virus? After a two week international hiatus, Barcelona
returned to action at the Camp Nou in emphatic fashion, dispatching Racing Santander 3-0 to claim
top spot in La Liga standings.
Mike Marsh is hoping his U18s side can rise to the occasion and get their first home victory of the
new season when Manchester United visit Kirkby on Friday.
Marsh's charges have yet to record a victory on home turf so far with their best form coming on the
road, but the U18s coach is happy with their overall displays in 2011-12.

Stu Forster/Getty Images(Bleacher Report) The Reds ended their August fixture set on a high with a
resounding 3-1 win against Bolton Wanderers in front of a packed house at Anfield. Off to their
best start in several years, the Reds have not only been doing well on their pitch, but the efforts
of Kenny Dalglish and Damien Camolli off the pitch have seen great results.

Following the Gunners' less-than-impressive 3-1 Carling Cup home victory over Shrewsbury Town
during the week, the newspapers were quick to note the attendance at that game at the Emirates,
(46,539) which was well below the stadium capacity.
However, the papers weren't so quick to highlight the far smaller crowds at the likes of the
Etihad Stadium during the other mid-week Carling Cup games, something that obviously irked
Arsenal themselves.
It's a make-or-break night in the CONCACAF Champions League for Toronto FC. If TFC can't come up
with a home victory over Panamanian side Tauro FC at BMO Field, then the Reds face an extremely
difficult uphill battle in their remaining two Group C games. A win, however, would put Toronto in
a decent spot moving forward.
Swansea City finally scored a Premier League goal and got their first win of the season Saturday
after a convincing 3-0 home victory against West Bromwich Albion. Before the match kicked off, the

Everton left it late to record their first home victory of the season as they
came from behind to beat Wigan 3-1 at Goodison Park today.
Franco Di Santo put the Latic's 1-0 up before Phil Jagielka equalised just two minutes later,
Apostolos Vellios and Royston Drenthe grabbed the late goals which ensured Everton's win.
Positive results earned by two London clubs in the Champions League as Chelsea opened their
journey with a win against Bayer Leverkusen while Arsenal earned an important draw as the Gunners
travel's to Borussia Dortmund's home ground.
Fernando Torres still scoreless for the Blues but the Spaniard set up his team's two goals,
while Arsene Wenger's team had their first half lead from Robin Van Persie's strike just few
minutes before the final whistle.
Shalrie Joseph and Rajko Lekic scored either side of halftime and goalkeeper Matt Reis made
eight saves to record his fifth shutout of the season as the New England Revolution snapped a
seven-game winless run with a 2-0 win over FC Dallas on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium.
Joseph opened the scoring with his team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 14th minute,
while Lekic provided an insurance strike – his sixth of the season – in the 84th minute to
guarantee the Revs claimed all three points.
Last week Denmark won a crucial home victory, 2-0 (two goals by Nicklas Bendtner! I didn't know the
guy could score any more!), against Norway on the way to the EURO 2012. Denmark now has all the
cards to qualify, while Norway has to be very lucky if they are to be in Poland/Ukraine next
summer. As is often the case in these matches, the build-up was further motivated by the neighbourly
rivalry
During the final days of Mark Hughes reign at the helm of the Wales national team when the
marvellous win in Helsinki and a fully deserved victory over Italy were a fading memory, Welsh fans
would often travel to games more in hope than expectation. Then John Toshack came and killed
the hope. An inevitable slide down the world rankings ensued with defeats home and away to Russia,
Germany and Finland.
At the close it looked easy enough. There were goals. Celebrations, too. The kind of win we
should be recording against newly promoted sides at home if we are indeed harboring aspirations of
another Premier League title. In truth, however, this was far from a convincing display. Much work
is left to be done.

Michael Steele/Getty Images(Bleacher Report)The Reds enjoyed finally getting a victory against
Arsenal last weekend, and during they week they advanced to the next round of the Carling Cup.
Bolton Wanderers also advanced this week in the Carling Cup, but they suffered a frustrating 3-2
