Major League Soccer is now just one game away from the end of the season, and this weekend the two
conference Finals were played to determine the two MLS Cup finalists. The two matches were devoid
of goals over 90 minutes, and while the Western winners managed to conjure up a couple in extra
time, a team from the West took it all the way to penalties in the Eastern final.

It's just not right is it? Somehow you look at this situation in the MLS Eastern Conference
Final that Real Salt Lake, a club from the West came to Chicago and defeated them in a penalty kick
shootout to take the Eastern Conference crown and will face fellow western club Los Angeles Galaxy

The Western Conference Finals was a long, hard slog between the Los Angeles Galaxy and the

blackouts that interrupted play in each half, and a half hour of overtime, the Galaxy did not
trudge off the pitch with their Western Conference trophy until almost midnight.

Perhaps it was only fitting that on Friday the 13th, there would be not one, but two power outages
at the Home Depot Center. Eighteen minutes into the Western Conference Final match between the Los
Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo, the lights on the upper deck at the Home Depot Center went out,
causing a stoppage in play that would last about 18 minutes.

The Western Conference Final started late for East Coast viewers and ended late for the crowd at
the Home Depot Center, with LA advancing to the 2009 MLS Cup 2-0 in overtime. Two lengthy stoppages
due to power outages and overtime pushed the game past the venue's regular 11pm curfew. With
chances few and far apart, Houston had the best opportunity in regulation, having a goal waived off
in the 80th-minute.
