Welcome to Liveblog 300! I mean 3000! which is ten times the liveblog that Liveblog 300! would
beeeeeeeeeeee (imagine Liveblog 3000! crushing a smaller liveblog as the be trails off).
If you haven't yet, check out Martin's preview, in which he speculates that AOC will get a start
and mostly just cuts and pastes an old preview.
The Philadelphia Union has released its schedule for 2012. A downloadable file containing the
entire schedule can be found here. With the addition of the Montreal Impact to the Eastern
Conference this year, MLS has moved to a conference based schedule. Each team will play 34 games,
but instead of the balance schedule we enjoyed last year, we will be seeing the following:
Due to the higher number of clubs in the Eastern Conference, each club will play a total of 25
conference matches.
Luckily we're no Abe Simpson.
Mick McCarthy's Wolverhampton Wolves (or Wanderers, properly) visit the Emirates for the first
of our trio of games over a six-day span. Wolves sit just above the relegation zone, one point
ahead of Wigan. They have a pretty dreadful record on the road, having managed just one away win
and six away goals in eight games.
Gimme a minute, I'm just shoveling coal into the Liveblog 3000. It's a bit clunky this morning
(afternoon/evening for many of you). Nothing a cuppa won't fix, mind. *pauses, thinks...* Gimme a
minute, I'm just shoveling tea into the Liveblog 3000.
If you haven't read it, then you should run, don't walk, to Darren's preview of this match.
And with that, our official season-in-crisis reaches new heights. A paltry first place in our
Champions League group and the top striker on the planet. Worst start in 58 years and we're even
with Spurs and they're having they're best start in 47.*
Anyway, first a picture, then on to the match report:
* I read that somewhere.

Well as I said earlier, that was gutting, but here are some stats from the game, including a couple
nice marks being hit.
The loss was KC's first home playoff loss since 1997, the team had gone unbeaten for 12 games since
their 3-0 home loss to Colorado.
CJ Sapong tied a team record for appearances in a season with 40.

Jack Wilshere saw two of his midfield colleagues leave in the summer, but he has told the Evening
Standard he has no intentions of leaving Arsenal as it is the perfect home for him right now. Way
to go Jack that's what Gooners want to hear. Are you sure you can't play on one leg? [...]

Another home defeat for Bolton Wanderers — is the season over already for The
Trotters?
Here we go, everyone. I'm going to say that every game is a must-win for us, starting with this
game. 35 wins on the season, yah!
Check out Darren's preview, then get yer comment on. Kick-off is at 3pm UK, 10am Eastern, 7am
Pacific. Shout out to our eastern seaboard Gooners! Hope you're coping well with the after-effects
of the weather there.
The Philadelphia Union played their Hurricane Irene rescheduled game against the New England
Revolution on Wednesday night. The game was as wild as the recent weather. The Union came back
from a 4-1 deficit at half time to get a draw. Despite the great come from behind effort, the
Union really needed a win.
As we enter the second to last month of the MLS regular season, I would like to make a few
observations. The Union's once secure hold on a playoff spot has become tenuous as of late. Despite
the roster changes over the course of the season, many of the same problems that were apparent in
May are still rearing their ugly heads:
1.
And here, folks, is our first* liveblog. The Inaugural LiveBlog, we'll call it.
Arsenal face Boca Juniors, an Argentine team of some repute. They've won more international
titles (18!) than your dad, and are second in Argentine Primera Division titles with 23 (and more
than Liverpool or ManU, I might add).
It has come to light in the last day that Everton and U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard will not be
available for the friendly with the Philadelphia Union. Accoding to the Union, they were only
informed of this fact a few days ago after previous representations to the contrary. To be blunt,
Everton probably has minimal marketing value in the U.
I replayed the Philadelphia Union – Sporting Kansas City game from midweek as I got ready to
leave for PPL Park tonight. I don't feel like there is a lot to say here. It was another
disappointing result against a team we should have taken more points from. You really have to beat
a last place team at home.
On Saturday night the Union suffered its second disturbing result in a row with a 1-0 loss to
the Vancouver Whitecaps at Empire Field. This loss follows on the heels of a disappointing 1-1 tie
at home to Real Salt Lake.
I have to say my reaction when I saw the lineup graphic on Saturday night was "Oh – My –
God.
Since our last scheduled programming, the Philadelphia Union have managed to score more than one
goal in a game and to do so in two consecutive games. The Union defeated the Chicago Fire on May
22 at PPL Park by a score of 2-1. Michael Farfan scored his first professional goal, and Carlos
Ruiz supplied the game winner a spectacular, long shot off a bouncing ball that just tucked in
under the crossbar.

CARSON, Calif. – After four long and often frustrating years, David Beckham has learned to bend
it once again. That famous right foot, so effective and prolific that it spawned the title of a
movie, has been quiet for much of his Los Angeles Galaxy career, but its effectiveness has returned
with a vengeance this [.
LONDON, England Goals from Kim Little and Julie Fleeting saw Arsenal reclaim the FA Women's Cup
with a 2-0 victory over Bristol Academy at the Ricoh Arena. The Gunners had lost out to Everton in
extra-time in last year's final, but they put that heartache behind them to secure a comfortable
win. Saturday's success [.
REIMS, France Evian won promotion from France's Ligue 2 following a 2-1 victory at 10-man Stade
Reims. Evian, who now have 64 points with one match left, cannot finish outside the top three after
a late Cedric Cambon strike gave them the three points. Evian, sponsored by fresh food group
Danone, had won promotion [.
Agradecemos a [.
My fellow bloggers over at http://unholyunion.wordpress.com recently posted some interesting
information about a closed Septa train station at Lamokin, about a fifteen minute walk from PPL
Park.
It found it interesting in that it was posted on the same day that I had my own first
experience, albeit indirectly, with public transportation to PPL Park.
Me echó
y Williams Reyes.
I attended the April 30 Philadelphia Union game against the San Jose Earthquakes with my friend
Frances who is a resident of Chester. It was great to see how excited she was to be at a game, and
she is definitely looking forward to attending another. This was highlight of the game for me, but
being a verbose blogger, I will also note the following:
Five games without a win, only 4 points from the first 6 games. Not the type of start to the season
that most fans were expecting heading into this season. Yes, most people thought that KC would
struggle to pick up points at time, but I think the first half of the road trip is where fans saw
the team picking up the majority of their points on this 10 game road trip.
Saturday was the first really rain soaked Philadelphia Union game. The Seattle Sounders must
have felt right at home. I discovered that layered synthetics + rain poncho + surf shoes = not all
that wet. The roof over my section performed better than expected. It didn't seem to extend over
the first row, but it did provide some coverage.
I had some time off this week, so I decided to check out some of the local eateries in Chester
along Route 291 (2nd Street) on the way to PPL Park from the Ridley Park exit. I had often drive by
these places and wondered what they were like or if they offered alternatives to what was available
at PPL Park for game day snacks or meals.
I've put the photos from this weekend into a separate post. First up, the game versus NJPC:
Stefani Miglioranzi and Sebastien LeToux during warmup.
Our little hero.
Justin Mapp warms up.
SOB TIFO display at Red Bull game.
Theirry Henry at PPL Park.
